Android Media Player Buyer Guide

Choose the right specifications
1). To choose a good player, please look for audio/video decoding capability but not the hardware specification only. Example of video codec included H.265, H.264, MPEG4, example of audio codec included DTS, DTS_HDMA, TrueHD and etc.

2). Next important factor is the media container support format i.e. BDMV, M2TS, ISO, BD-ISO. If you bought a player could not read BDMV or BD ISO, then you could not play Blu-ray files directly from your box but have to convert Blue-ray to MKV file.

3). Android player is different from traditional consumer electronic device where the functionality is static. Android Player is software driven, the functionality is dynamic and upgradable. By upgrading the apps or firmware, you enhance the functionality of the player. Therefore post sales support from the seller is very important to optimize your player functionality from time to time.

Choose the right brand
1). Android player in the market price different from RM200 to RM600, failure to buy the right player is totally waste money.
2). Please select the brand that has in-house Android engineer to continuously develop the firmware to fix software bugs and capable to develop streaming apps as value added service.
3). Check the historical firmware version to verify the continuous bug fixes and improvement.

Q16 is using the firmware 1.0.6, xBMC is same as Q5II where you can install customized 12.2 or regular 12.3 from XBMC.org.

DTS required license, you cannot use regular xBMC 12.3 but use customized 12.2 from Himedia or using native Himedia player. This has nothing to do with the model but the xBMC app.
P/S: if you notice Himedia box is slightly expensive than other brand similar box because Himedia bundled with licensed DTS.

Pls sent me the email nicety@hotmail.my for the popular addon you mentioned above, preferable with steps by steps and screenshot, I could forward to Himedia engineer to look into it.

The customized 12.2 already modified by Himedia to embedded with audio and video decoding included DTS. Himedia yet to customize 12.3 and 13.0 since buyer still can play DTS with native Himedia player.

I mean Native himedia player refer to the high quality audio stream from USB HDD source.

Q16 UI is different from Q5II. You can download any launcher from GooglePlay to replace the home screen. Pls PM me if you need help.

Many people made the same mistake, Android OS already build in standard VPN capability PPTP and L2TP. Just get the servers detail from the VPN providers and enter as per below link :

No need to install any 3rd party apps such as Hola.

If you insist to use the 3rd party apps for VPN then you need to root the device in order to build the VPN tunneling. However this method is too technical for typical users.

I have one Q5 customer feedback to me the same issue as you mentioned. At the end he found due to grounding of his house where one house equipment current leakage to ground. You can verify this by plug in the box to your friend's house. Pls pm me know your test result.

I will PM you about how to isolate your home electrical problem.

Himedia remote control come with 4 self learning remote control key, you can use it to remote your TV included Power On/Off, Volume + and -, AV selection. Just follow the below step to let Himedia Remote Control learn to control your TV set :
a). Press and hold the key "Set" on Himedia remote control for 2 seconds, the LED lighten and entering learning state.
b). Press the key you want to learn, such as the "Power" button, LED lights blinking the RC is on the study and receiving status
c). Put transmitter head of two remote control in a straight line (a distance of 2-5 cm), press "Power" button of the TV remote control, the LED of HiMedia remote control will blink rapidly 3 times and on long lighting status, then learning completed
d). To learn other keys, repeat steps 2 and 3
e). Press the "Set" button to save and exit the learning state, learning is completed, LED light goes off

The normal plug and play wireless mouse will work for Android.
