what a way to ended the winning streak.

congrats to sunderland.

again, we always lost plot against team that play a bit defensive. and the amount of foul by sunderland player just unbelievable. that rugby play.. haih. ref should throw card a bit earlier.

ramires, he should be a correct person to pair with matic, but his performance is nahh.

and that Faria angry burst moment, WOW, thats tell everything. I always see him like a cool calm person, but this burst flex.gif

Cole. David Luiz

No mood to report in new thread.
Tough tough loss. I mean looking at the points we dropped along the way clearly shows that we are not ready to win the title.

If MC hadn't drew the game 3 days ago, losing the title would not have sting so much. But the thing is, we had it in our hands, and to lose so cheaply like this is not what we want to see.

Added on
Also this may sound un-fan like, though I really really really wanted to see the title to come to the Bridge, I can't help to let go of that hope this season. Liverpool should win it. Some of their fans might be a bunch of twats, but I think Steven Gerrard should get his PL, like how Drogba got his CL. The manager and the players have my respect.

Actually maybe blessing in disguise, all players will be fired up in CL games.

Just needed 3 super games to lift the season in high 5

then what else to say. lel

it shows that we're not champion material this year. losing to small teams..

yeah, handing the opportunity to the youngsters would be nice for them to gain some exp. better than giving ramires the chance to play. laugh.gif

hahah. like people always say. kata2 untuk sedapkan hati sendiri.

our tam need to be more effective. no point hit 20+ shot on target if cant convert. our long shot really piss me off. they always poor. either it go row z, or straight at keeper.

Title shud go to Liverpool. They deserve it...we don't ....keep losing same thing to small team isn't a Sign of champion..... Maybe our team isn't set up to face physical team...we need Costa possibly?

Not just a striker,we need our trident to be more creative and make fast decision too.we hold the ball far too long

From the beginning of the season, the team sheet & form of the players doesn't lie. We all know our strikers toothless.
At best, we are 2nd best team around, If not, 3rd best.
Either we already surpass our expectation or those better teams didn't.
Mourinho do said Liverpool have the advantage of rest day & concentrated solely on BPL.
Their strikers clicks & outscored opponent to win matches for them. Imagined our strikers can be half of their forms, what it will do.

Now we have to beware of MU next season, maybe they will do like Liverpool like this season.

tittle should be won for the team that collect the most points at the end of the season..

I dont like to say this one deserved, and that one dont deserved, I also dont like to say that this team must win because of this player or that player.

What a game... even though we lost, but we can clearly see the lads are all fired up to win the game (when it was 1-1 back then)... Torres looks like he's on a mission... Eto'o isn't the same after he scored the goal... I think Ba would impact the game much more if he had the full 90 minutes...

Sometimes I wish the lads to be a bit greedier... try to take the shot whenever they have the chance.... but now, they seems to elect to pass first than shoot first... the only greedy player on the field is Eto'o... with that said... it's interesting to see Liverpool's performance against Norwich tonight... Sunderland really step up their game last night... draw with Man City and beat us...

the only thing I'm sad is Mou's home record... I guess you can't win them all right?

record is good, but keeping them is like an additional burden to the team..now we can start new home record..and beat the one that just broke thumbup.gif

usually after a disappointment result, we will go mental the next game..ATLETICO !!! at least we need away goals there.. cool2.gif

i've also said since last night that i'm more sad to see the unbeaten home record to be broken like this, rather than letting the epl title slipped away. well i guess you cant stay unbeaten forever, records are meant to be broken. who knows Jose might set a new record of more than 77 games unbeaten from next game ?? tongue.gif

liverpool's performance this season is so good, they deserved to win the league title. good thing is that i think most of us and even other rival teams supporters feel that stevie g deserved this more than anyone notworthy.gif

no lah. some decision goes our way, some decision not. thats normal.

kita miya pemain sendiri harus dipersalahkan. tidak efektif didepan gol. kalaulah ada jirud di depan, pasti. pasti kita boleh menang.

no. pools need to lose 1 and draw 1 for city to win.

cant see pools slip anymore. they will surely go for a draw against us next week. win will be a bonus for them.

mathematically, if liverpool win 3 and lose 1 in their last 4 games, and city win all their remaining 5 games, they would have the same points - 86. so depends on the GD.

this is correct.

So which is our consolation for not winning the title, seeing Stevie G lift the trophy or 3 point at Anfield? tongue.gif

i dont know, i guess i'll go for a 3 point at Anfield. but it's really just consolation i guess. remember we beat them in FA cup final 2 seasons ago and then a week later they trashed us 4-1 (iirc) in the league? it was a merely a consolation for them also since we're the one to lift the fa cup trophy sweat.gif sweat.gif

actually i'm pretty excited for our Anfield game. Let them earn their title if they can. But I do wish can call back few loanees to play this game though. Lukaku, Courtois, Piazon. Also MVG ready yet? he's been playing u21 i think.

Just give liverpool the title already. Have to Admit for whatever reason they indeed playing like a champion to me. Maybe its Gerrard factor, also the supporters.

As for Chelsea, we just to accept that we lose few key players like Drogba and Mata and the replacement was mediocre not up to the standard. Some of the best player also has dipped in form such as Ramires and Ivanovic..

liverpool lose key player also liao. fernando torres. tongue.gif . but ya, they play like a champion. would be an exciting candidate for ucl next season. super fast attack a la madrid. provide they buy excellent defenders next season, theyll be invincible.

Liverpool didn't win the title because they were better than us, they won it because we were bad against easy teams, but hey better than us is not important, you need to win the game that you should win it, and we failed to do so. They can focus on single competition, no distraction from Europe and they have two on-form strikers. I'm not overly impressed, but they get the job done, and that is what count.

True. But i feel you're not giving them enough credit. They were able to impose their football on every game, regardless of the opponent. They weren't at their best all the time but they still play the same way. I think we are still too reactive in playing, so when the opponent doesn't do anything, there's nothing to react on. It's something we have to work on. Overall I have to say we have improved over the course of the season. It's very clear that we are not the finished product yet, but I'm sure things will get sorted out by next season.

Liverpool win simply bcoz of Suarez and Sturridge, and also only focus in 1 competition.

Next season will truly test their squad's depth.
Sakho - meh
Skrtel and Agger - Good, but sometimes Skrtel comical defending
Toure - I still rmb his own goal. tongue.gif

Pool really nid to bolster their defense next season if wanna excel in both PL and CL.

And also, Citeh and us dropped points, Liverpool has been consistent. So yea, credits to them.

But 1 thing I dun like bout BR, kip alternating between 433, diamond, 4231. haha. let's see how he fares next season. laugh.gif

watching lukaku against utd now. Kinda poor against crowded defence. Heavy first touch most of the time. Dunno if he can lead our attacking force.

maybe this is the concern with lukaku early in this season..and why we let him go on loan after he asked for it..

dont get me wrong..he is outstanding striker, but maybe lack in certain area..that he can improve on loan..

but I believe in that kid..he must be in our squad next season..maybe as 2nd striker..giving that he now can play as Left Striker..more option for Jose.

200% agree with u bro.

Among the 3, I hope Eto says. He can still be super sub or big match player. For Torres, so sorry for him, his time is simply up. For Ba, I would not keep him to rot on our bench. I still rmb Ba was on the bench for about 2/3 of the whole season. Only recently Mou picked him.

With the title out of your hands now even with a victory over Liverpool this coming weekend, it's fair to assume on the balance of probability Jose will prioritise the Atletico tie over the Liverpool game. If you progress from this tie it will only be ONE game to glory which makes it easier considering you have fate in your own hands whereas you are still dependant on both City and Liverpool to drop further points in the league. The prize money, publicity and prestige is worth the sacrifice of the PL I would say, of course anything is still possible just not likely. Unless of course you win or lose so big the 2nd leg is effectively meaningless.

So looking at this scenario, here's a question for you Chelsea fans. How would you lineup against Liverpool at the weekend with the Atletico tie in mind?

When I was looking at the Chelsea squad list, can't help but notice a few odd situations.

1. Who is your backup RIGHT BACK? Azpi is a natural RB yes but he plays on the other side now and who do you play in RB when you need both Azpi and Iva rested?

2. Who are your backup CENTRE BACKS? Apart from the youngsters I only see David Luiz as a natural CB but you will surely rest him because he is probably the 2nd best you have in Matic's role since Matic will be cup tied.

3. Who is your backup for Oscar? I could only see Willian playing in this role effectively but I would prefer to rest Willian with Hazard still out. Maybe Lampard?

4. Would you rest even Cech? Probably not but you never know when you will pick up an odd injury in football.

Cech - RB??? - CB??? - CB??? - A. Cole - Mikel - Ramires - Lampard - Schurrle - Salah - Torres?

This is my guess if Jose does intend to rest ALL key players bar Cech and I'm predicting a CL final between Chelsea and Real Madrid.

Kalas.

Luiz and Ivanovic, no one else other than Luiz and Ivanovic in the 1st team considering both rested, we will see a youngster play.

Willian, Hazard..Lampard rarely play that role..but yes..he can.

Cech maybe.

Cech
Kalas,Christensen,Ivanovic,Azpi
Matic,Mikel
Salah,Lampard,Schurrle
Ba

well..not that relevant because we will play Atletico 1st leg first then Liverpool..so must see how the result of the 1st leg before considering possible resting of players.

we must collect max points in the league, need to seal the UCL top 3 spot asap.

knowing Mourinho, we rarely throw the towel, we still have a say in the tittle race.

if u guys watch liverpool game, especially last night,

its very simple.guard as hard as u can in the first half.even if concede 1 goal, its not a big deal

then sub in 1 or 2 fast attacking player, like schurle, and bombard them with relentless pressure in 2nd half

especially on glen johnson side.dont go thru middle.skrtel too formidable

that should be enough to win against liverpool

ps:and this is coming from one who pray liverpool win EPL this season

Can't argue with that. I would even say Flannagan's side is vulnerable too. Liverpool's weakness is crosses and target men. Mignolet can't catch crosses and full backs are weak at closing down on crosses. Liverpool this season is notorious for their fast start to the game but loses steam as soon as they go maybe 2 goals up. Stopping the early game onslaught is key.

correct.a team that excel and crosses, corners and headers should be problematic for liverpool

and dont try to counter them, they would out-counter u

just maintain a constant flow of pressure and attacking runs

shouldnt be hard for chelsea with their adept passing prowess.

keep possession,keep pressuring

Back up RB is Azpi. If Iva injured, Azpi will move to RB, Cole will move into LB. Kalas can back up at RB too, he can play CB or RB.

For Oscar role, no direct back up. But Willian and Hazard can play the middle role too.

Rest Cech? Almost impossible for Mou. Cech only miss game when he is injured. He missed the Sunderland game due to picking up a virus iinm.

My prediction against Liverpool

------------Cech---------
Iva---Cahill---Terry---Azpi
-------Ram----Matic-----
--Salah---Oscar---Willian
-------------Ba----------

Iva will start coz he is suspended for the match against Atletico. Matic and Salah cup tied, so will play the PL games. Cole might start depending on his performance against Atletico. If he perform superbly, Mou will stick with him. tongue.gif

And also Ram......Mou like him for his energetic display albeit being a headless chicken. laugh.gif

Knowing Mou, I think Mou will not rest too much of the key player. He would wan the players to maintain match fitness. hmm.gif

Chelsea's weakness is also crossing. lel! The attacking players like to play short passes, triangle pass etc. They like to combo well with ground pass, run and gun. Not much crosses. And Iva's crossing has been of low standard lately. doh.gif

Hope Mou realizes Pool's weakness and capitalize on it. brows.gif Judging by your analysis, if Mignolet is not gud at catching crosses, Ba shud start against Liverpool, then we just play the long ball tactic. hmm.gif hmm.gif

so you're basically saying Liverpool are at the top because Chelsea/others drop points. what if Liverpool/Man City suddenly lose all their games and Chelsea win all? In this case did Chelsea win it because they're good or because others drop points?

Why not have a look at the table? Liverpool played 35 games with 5 draws and 5 defeats. Chelsea played 35 games with 6 draws and 6 defeats. If Chelsea were to win against us at the weekend that would put Liverpool's record at 5 draws and 6 defeats. The difference is just ONE game in which Chelsea has gotten 1 point instead of 3.

So yes Chelsea dropped points against easy teams but so did we. Swansea, Hull, Newcastle, Villa, Soton are among the teams we dropped points against. Remember that crazy Kolo square pass blunder that gave West Brom a draw? That was 2 valuable valuable points that we shouldn't have given away and might come back to haunt us.

Chelsea dropped points against the likes of West Brom, Sunderland, Crystal Palace, Villa and Stoke that you can argue they should have won but many of those are teams fighting for their lives.

I firmly believe though whoever ends the season topping the table fully deserves it for their consistency.

my statement intended to the chelsea supporters that talking more on Liverpool deserves to win, and not the real question..that is we dont deserves to win because we keep on dropping points against lower side, and the discussion will be on why and how. If you read my statment as Chelsea fans you will understand the reason why I posted that, because we know we can do it..but somehow, we cant. our fault most of the time.

If you read as non chelsea fans you will find in biased for sure, I will not blame anyone on that..because the post intended to the chelsea fans and related with most of the previous post on title race.

I am all agree with you, dont get me wrong..I will congratulate anyone that won the league, fairplay to them, they get the job done, but I'm not gonna overly praised Liverpool on the level of if Liverpool win the league Gerrard will be better than Ronaldo and Messi type of guy.

No harm lah congratulate the winner, heck we might still have a chance to snatch it late if Pool and City to drop few more points these remaining matches.

Chelsea beat Liverpool in the first round doesnt make them unworthy winner of the league. They also trashed Arsenal and Spuds while nullified City fluidity at Etihad same like what we did.

For the sportmanship, i praise Liverpool as a worthy champion and good luck for them for next season as it will be total different ball game once they're back in Europe. Plus post-World Cup hangover

In the end of the game/season, the team that is the most consistent wins it. But I would say Pool has less distraction compared to Chelsea and Man City. City have the FA cup while Chelsea have the CL to worry bout. Liverpool's case is just keep everyone fit, and everyone can play in the PL. So advantage to Liverpool there.

But then take ntg away from BR, BR has done a fantastic job in Anfield. Signing Sturridge, promoting Sterling, playing attacking football. Really eye pleasing even for the opposition. If Liverpool wins the league, it'll be the greatest achievement by Gerrard and BR. Would love to see how Liverpool strengthen their squad for next season, with the CL, FA cup and Carling cup.

Then again, the ball is round, anything can happen. I'm still hoping for a Liverpool slip up for us to capitalize. tongue.gif

If Liverpool do win the league, I'll have no complains. Liverpool's squad is really good enough for the PL, while Chelsea still lack the cutting edge (a poacher striker).

Hmm, seem like some heated thing going here and there.
Yes they have less distraction compare to ours.
But the main reason our teams is not ready yet and imcomplete.

atletico away.

Costa maybe, Arda Turan cleared already, Courtois will play..plus Koke on form..

it will be one classic type of European night..I just hope that we can seal the deal in the first leg..less pressure in the second leg.

It's crucial to get an away goal... even 1 if possible is better than nothing... I'm hoping for a win but let's be realistic... A 1-1 draw will be a heck of a result. Come on Chelsea... let's focus on the away game at Madrid.

yes, we are very similar..both play the same way and a little bit physical, both manager is ruthless in term of the result and gameplay.

1-2 for me.

I dont think we will break that partnership anytime soon..Cahill and Terry just like Terry and Cavalho.

I dont see any good in that rumors, i prefer us to sign Sagna, free. blush.gif Apzi to stay as LB and Sagna compete with Iva at RB. laugh.gif

You guys read that we're offering extended contract to Lamps, JT and Cole right? If they signed, then it's at least for another year.

Impossible. But its not 100% impossible if City match his current wages (or better). Heard he is going to receive a pay cut if he stays.

It's hard to see Terry wearing another PL club's jersey, but not impossible. Who know if 1 day Terry wants a new challenge in a new club. I think not much club can match Terry's status and wage demand aite.

Just like Cech's case. If Terry wants to leave. He can. He has done everything he could in a Chelsea jersey. FA Cup, Carling cup, EPL, Europa League, UCL, u name it, he won it.

But I feel Terry still has a point to prove. He has not actually played in a UCL final and won it yet. He missed the spot kick against Utd. When we won the UCL, he was on the sideline for his suspension. So yea, this might motivate him to stay in Chelsea for the Holy Grail. brows.gif icon_idea.gif

Ram + Luiz for UCL, Matic + Lamps for PL. thumbup.gif

But if Ram is banned, it is good news for us. no headless chicken. Bad news for Mou though, 1 selection less, and Mou like Ram type of play, all energetic play.

Samuel Eto'o is not included, he has a minor knee irritation. Eden Hazard does travel. He has not played since a calf problem forced his early withdrawal from the previous Champions League game, the home win over Paris Saint-Germain earlier this month.

There are no other absentees due to injury and Petr Cech is in the squad having missed Saturday's game against Sunderland due to a minor illness.

Branislav Ivanovic serves a one-match suspension for collecting three bookings in the competition.

Eden to start if fit, or else Oscar.

Gus Poyet tries to make amends with Chelsea fans.

"To be the first team somehow to beat Mourinho's Chelsea at home is a privilege - and a little bit of mixed emotions. I played here and I know how important this game was for them."

"What I have done to their title hopes is bad, but I'm sorry - I was just doing my best for Sunderland, I cannot do anything different. I hope I will feel less guilty if Chelsea go on to win the Champions League, because I am still good friends with everybody here, and I would like them to keep winning."

He can use the money he got from selling his vintage wine collection to cover Moyes compensation.

he should leave the decision for the new manager to the management..and let them take the fall if anything bad happened..at the same time he can protect his legacy.

You heard it from the official page! Looks very much like a defensive set up imo, which is a good choice away from home against a very good side.

wow...it's true then...we have 4 players that can play as CM. Luiz, Mikel, Lamps and Ram. maybe we try to match up with Atletico? I think their playing 4411.

Atletico Madrid: Courtois, Juanfran, Miranda, Godin, Filipe, Mario, Gabi, Koke, Raul Garcia, Diego, Diego Costa

Villa and Adrian not starting, they put in Diego instead. hmm.gif

Well defended so far, though.

Maybe the plan was to just stall until half time. One at a time.

Ramires is there to sprint and sprint for sudden counter or to chase the ball all over the field.

If we plan for a 0-0 then I hope we get that. But of course, 1-0 will be a super huge bonus nonetheless.

Not much chance on goal by us. Atletico playing more attacking, having a lot of possession.

Cech injured, but Schwarzer seems to be playing ok, he's catching crosses well. Saved the shot by Suarez too.

We need Oscar or Schurrle to replace Ram. Need more pressure on the Atletico players to win back possession. Luiz, Lamps and Mikel sitting too deep. Only left Torres, Ram and Willian to pressure the Atletico players up front.

I think the team defended well in the 1st half. Contained all atletico attackers.. however, i think lampard is not of any use in the game. I think putting oscar in his place might be a good choice as oscar is also good in defending while adding some attacking threats upfront.

And also diz match I feel so weird, seeing an opposition have possession from the midfield area onwards. Usually our trident will close down on defenders and midfielders very fast. But today, we playing 433. Plus no Eto to close down on opposition. It's like inviting Atletico to have possession.

0-0 full time. 0-0 away is not a bad result imho.

Now Atletico will noe, if they get a scoring draw in SB, they'll win. They need to score, so they will attack. When they attack, they'll leave more space to be exploit. Next game can't play 433 dy. Must play trident to pressure them in their own half, win ball high up the field and score. If we score 1, park the bus.

Well I guess it was due to the fact we got lesser guy to handle the aerials, and AM capitalized on that by throwing dangerous crosses in.

Mourinho 1 - Simeone 0

Mission accomplished. AM shouldn't pump ball into the box to a target man. They can't challenge aerially against Chelsea.

Btw, a really majestic performance by Mikel, JT, Cahill, Azpi, Cole and Schwarzer.

All of them cleared the crosses when needed. Afta JT out, a bit shaky, but Cahill stepped up. Cahill is really future JT and Mr Chelsea in the making. notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

ah ya....i stand corrected.. only by a goalless draw we will not lose straight, it will go on for extra time and penalty if still goalless, but i really dont wanna go into penalty shootout. yes, it's 50-50 but we know the 'petr cech effect' in penalty shootout..and since he's most probably wont be available in the 2nd leg....so im hoping for a 1-0 win at SB rolleyes.gif rolleyes.gif

Dislocated shoulder very serious?

Anyways, it's really bad news about Cech and Terry. These are big game players and our veterans. When backs are against the wall, these two perform at an exceptional level. They thrive on the occasion. Pray for speedy recovery.

Didn't watch the game after I see the lineup. Cant see we score with Luis, Mikel, lampard, and ramires on the same field.

With cech and terry out injured, don't think we can snatch a point at anfield. Luiz in CB against pacey Liverpool forward is a recipe for disaster.

i think mourinho exaggerated cech's injury. he will surely miss the trip to anfield and the 2nd leg against atletico but should we go through, i am sure cech can recover before that. dislocated bone should not be that serious right?

with regards to in-coming game against liverpool, i really hope we can pull something against them. i think the EPL is out of our reach already unless something really terrible happen to the whole liverpool and man city team. so, winning or even pulling a draw in the game will be a good end to the season as to the very least, we end the season with dignity as a real title contenders and not pretenders.

matic and salah will surely play this weekend. together with lampard and willian who is suspended for the 2nd leg. if we are thinking of giving some rest, it should be for azpilicueta since ivanovic already got his rest due to suspension from the semi 1st leg. others that might need some rest would be cahill and since JT is injured, david luiz and kalas can be a new partner but i really hope they will not be raped apart by the 3S combo. hazard should also get some gametime to erase some of rustiness from the 2 weeks lay-off.

i think iva gonna play in CB so he can throw his arm at suarez's face more often..  brows.gif
maybe suerez will take the bait & this time the ref will notice it..  rolleyes.gif

so if all injuries are not recover by the 2nd leg..
probably line up?

yap this lineup is the most logic way to approach the Liverpool game..on paper..its not that bad actually..we played with thinner depth..

Eto'o is a possibility..and I believe Terry also will have last min fitness test.

Oscar need to step up for Ajat..and please Willian..we need more movement from him.

Lol is that a new trend in fishing? rclxms.gif

Why not Matic? He isn't going to play in CL anyway. Is he injured? Not sure about Ramires but think FA is looking at the possibility of a ban for that elbow swing. Lampard and Mikel aren't gonna play in the 2nd leg either, would you not rather rest Luiz instead?

I dont get it, the negativity of Chelsea getting a draw and parking the bus. Can't ppl see it as part of a strategy and bring the game back to the Bridge as more advantage to us.

To me, there is no such thing as exiting game when the team score so much and also let in so much goals, CFC is not Reds.

When we play defensive, we're always labeled parking the aeroplane. When West Ham played defensively against us, it's called great defending.

Guess we have to live with it.

tbh, last night's match was quite boring. but, it's understandable as we were playing away from goal. just a bit frustrated cuz we played long balls too often and some players passed straight to the opponents. doh.gif

I vote for costa to chelsea next season, I like his style of play, his positioning too. There's one moment when he chest the ball and try to do overhead kick, at least he tried something.

He's provoking terry is not a concern, he may wanted terry to get a card and maybe send off. psychology play.

I find it amusing Jose fields 6-7 defensive players and then try and nick a goal or two on the counter attack each time they meet a big team.

All that money and all those talent and he resorts to be a Tony Pulis or Sam Allardyce each time they play a half decent team. Really sad indeed.

Lamps, Mikel suspended for return leg.

So against Liverpool, I think Lamps, Mikel, Matic and Salah will play some part since all 4 cant play in 2nd leg. My prediction is.

--------Schwarzer-------
Iva---Luiz---Cahill---Azpi
------Lamp---Matic-----
--Willian--Oscar---Salah
-------Eto(if fit)/Ba----

I got a feeling Mou will start Luiz as CB.hmm.gif let him gain some match time playing at CB. Coz we might need him at CB against Atletico 2nd leg.

Many people underestimated Atletico. Atletico is the best team in Spain at the moment, they are on the top of the table and they have knocked out Barca.

0-0 is a good result to me. Their ground is scary, and their defensive shape is so compact and organized. They have in form strikers and have scored every single match in UCL before meeting us.

Costa vs Terry stare scares me. This Costa guy really has the burning desire to win games.

Don't watch a lot of La Liga but watching them played last night, I thought it's just normal so I guess what Ichi said is true, defensive vs defensive, it sort of canceled out each other.

But looking at the Vincente Calderon, definitely not a good place for the Away team. Hopefully same treatment for them next week at the Bridge.

Strongest lineup we got for second leg. I opt for etoo instead of ba to lead the line. Expect the same approach for 2nd leg. Both team need to score in order to advance. I fancy a 1 - 1 draw from the first leg. Away goal always crucial for a team like us.

Against pools, I expect mou to field this lineup. The result might not be good though.

Schwarzer
Iva kalas Luiz Cole
Mikel matic
Schurrle Oscar salah
Torres

Sub luiz with Cahill at half time. Ba for torres for final 30 mins. Willian for either schurlre or Oscar.

Could THIS be the "weaker" team that faces Liverpool on Sunday?

I have been thinking about Jose's idea of a weaker team to face Liverpool on Sunday and have come up with the starting eleven that I believe we could see at Anfield. I am interested in reading your opinions.

Now we have to take plenty of things into consideration here. Suspensions for the second leg, people that are likely to miss out and players who need a game based on the fact that Jose Mourinho would already be thinking of his best eleven for Wednesday night.

As we know Mohamed Salah and Nemanja Matic will both start against Liverpool as they are cup tied for the Champions League. In addition to those two, we now have both Frank Lampard and Mikel suspended for the second leg so they will also start against Liverpool in a possible 4-3-3 formation alongside Matic in midfield.

Demba Ba will more than likely start against Liverpool as Fernando Torres will continue up top on Wednesday. So we have two of the three attacking players selected with Ba through the middle and Salah wide right. Andre Schurrle to come in and play down the left hand side as he started on the bench last night.

Mark Schwarzer should continue in goal with Hilario as his deputy but the back four is where things could really change. As Ivanovic missed the game last night, he could be brought into the side for Anfield at right back. Gary Cahill will continue to play and lead the back four but with David Luiz alongside him and Ashley Cole to continue at left back.

So the supposed "weaker" Chelsea eleven would be as follows:

(4-3-3) Schwarzer, Ivanovic, Cahill, Luiz, Cole, Lampard, Mikel, Matic, Salah, Ba and Schurrle.

The only other players I believe that could be under consideration for Anfield would be Hilario, Kalas, Ake and Van Ginkel.

What do you think of the team selected above? Not bad for a weaker side is it?

well that line up is not bad actually except in the middle where lampard and mikel partnership... these two had not work well in the past (not like we are going for something at anfield)

Certain manager(s) will complain if we field weaker side, example like when Sunderland fixture was moved.

Tbh I don't understand the hatred towards Chelsea for parking the bus etc.

A win is still a win whether you are 1-0 or 10-0. If it's won you the title I happily take it anytime.

Not a Chelsea fan though but a fan of football game itself. Of course every team like to win beautifully but sometimes need to adapt to situation. You need to defend sometimes (everytime) when the need arise.

Hoping Chelsea to get whack on the second leg by Atletico (no pun intended tongue.gif). Like it when underdogs can win a trophy despite giant team like Real, Bayern and Chelsea are competing in it.

I noe most of us wants to see Van Ginkel in action. But then, at such a crucial stage of the season, I dun see Mou will experiment his young talent. MVG b4 diz has not started much match too. I doubt Mou will pick him.

But the kid will be the future of our pivot, no doubt. thumbup.gif

It just pure hatred towards Chelsea..not actually the style of play..they just using that as a cover up..a lot of clubs use the same type of play around Europe and even in the league..Sunderland and Palace secured 3 pts from us using the same type of play..

the same with rich owners..quite a numbers of clubs in Europe already bought by rich owners, but they only trash the club that successful under the rich owners.

play to your strength, exploit the opponent weakness and dont be naive and play one type of football only.

yap..we are the underdogs here. I just hope we can win the 2nd leg comfortably because they will come out to attack, this will be our opportunity to hit them on counter attack. nod.gif

lol that retard tried to bring in history (if u call 8 years a history) but got beaten at his own game. what a retard. i would trade watching entertaining football with a brand spanking new stadium over crappy boring as hell pathetic football by a hypocrite shameless ratbag of manager any day. guess what, chelski net spending last season surpases wenger's net spending throughout his entire tenure. that in itself is a massive failure considering that they will end this season empty handed. the joke is on them and their fans obviously.

copy pasta from neighbor tered.

seems like spending less than opposition is a success. LOL!!! If lidat, most successful club this season is the club that spent less? big time LOL! The table do not lie bro. Neighbor club < Chelsea. nuff said.

They only left competing in FA cup, while we still have a say in PL and CL. lel! We still have 2 fronts to fight for while they only have 1 cup to fight for. icon_idea.gif

what is wrong nowadays? everyone started to hate chelsea now?

let's be fair...if you're talking about history and total trophies, of course chelsea is way inferior compared to the traditional top 4 (liv, man utd and arsenal), way way more inferior.
but that doesnt mean you can go around saying "you support chelsea? you noob stupid f**k, chelsea has not much history. supporting chelsea is the most stupid decision a person can make"

if the only way you'll only be considered smart is to support a club with the most trophies and histories, then by all means every single man utd, liv, arsenal and chelsea supporter is stupid. because real madrid has the most rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

And by the same logic Liverpool is always History FC. Remember "next season is our season"? Rival fans are always throwing that quote at us even when there are many young supporters (like myself born a few months after Lpool last lifted the title) who have never experienced the glory days of Liverpool and never once mentioned "we will win the title next season". Don't buy too much into rubbish comments trolls throw at you and do not generalize. Yeah we are kinda noisy lately, but please understand that this is the first time in 24 years we have been so so close to realistically win the title. I'm sure you felt the same way during Mourinho's first season in charge. The feeling that this might be the start of a new glorious era in the making.

As for Arsenal? It's mainly because of the banter Jose and Arsene are constantly throwing at each other since years ago. Also the contrasting styles of football. Admit it though, Chelsea's football can be very very boring at times and it was the same under Rafa at least for me. 19th century football? tongue.gif

But at the end of the day, it is the result that matters. Results wise there is no difference between 4-3 and 1-0 except for the sake of highlight reels. We sort of parked the bus in the Quarter and Semi Finals on route to our 5th European Cup and Rafa will now forever be a fan favourite. No ones gonna remember how we got there (except for the "ghost goal"). When the 2005 CL final is mentioned, most fans will point at the 3-3 comeback but not the process of how we got there.

Nothing much chelsea can do on 19th century football when we can't out score opponents as we dun have good finisher.

QUOTE
Blues manager Mourinho faces punishment for comments made following the shock 2-1 defeat to Sunderland - his first home defeat in the Premier League as a manager at Stamford Bridge.

Assistant coach Faria was sent to the stands after berating the match officials following Sunderland's late winner.

Mourinho had to drag Faria away from fourth official Phil Dowd as the hosts' protests turned ugly in the closing stages.

Ramires is now facing a premature end to the season after being charged with violent conduct for appearing to strike Sebastian Larsson with a flailing arm to the face.

Referee Mike Dean took no action at the time, but FA disciplinary officials have reviewed the footage and he now faces retrospective punishment.

The midfielder has already been sent off twice this season, and he could receive a five-match ban if the latest charge is upheld.

An FA statement read: "The FA has charged three members of Chelsea's staff following their fixture against Sunderland at Stamford Bridge on April 19.

"Chelsea midfielder Ramires has been charged by The FA for violent conduct following an off-the-ball incident that was not seen by the match officials but caught on video.

"Rui Faria, Chelsea's assistant manager, has been charged with two counts of misconduct.

"It is alleged that in the 83rd minute of the fixture, Faria used abusive and/or insulting words towards the fourth official (Phil Dowd). It also alleged that Faria's behaviour following the match referee's (Mike Dean) request that he leave the technical area amounted to improper conduct.

"Jose Mourinho has been charged with misconduct in respect of post-match comments he made following the fixture.

"It is alleged that Mourinho's comments constitute improper conduct, in that they call into question the integrity of the referee appointed to the above fixture and/or the integrity of Mr Mike Riley, general manager of the Professional Game Match Officials Limited, and/or the comments bring the game into disrepute."

Ramires has until 6pm on Thursday evening to respond to the charge, while Mourinho and Faria have until 6pm next Monday to consider their responses.

Mourinho could not hide his anger after his 77-match unbeaten home run ended, launching into a sarcastic appraisal of the officials in his post-match press conference.

"I want to congratulate Mike Dean," the Blues boss said.

"I think his performance was unbelievable, and I think when referees they have unbelievable performances I think it's fair also that managers we give them this.

"So fantastic performance, he came here with one objective, the objective of making a fantastic performance and he did that.

"I think it's also fair, congratulations to Mike Riley, because he's the referees' boss, and what they are doing during the whole season is fantastic, especially in the last couple of months, especially in matches involving the teams that were in the title race, it's absolutely fantastic.

"And I also congratulate Mr Mike Riley, thank you."
Sounded like plenty of Chelsea haters inside FA. The part I don't get is Mourinho. Apparently being sarcastic is not accepted even in the form of compliments.
Not to mention this act implies that FA condones bad calls made by referees? Plenty of fcuking bigots up there

Does that mean Ramires is not gonna play this weekend? Thought he wasn't gonna play either way though so probably won't matter anyway.

Personally it'll be interesting to see how the FA is gonna charge someone of disrespect rom sarcasm. Can't he easily defend by saying the praise were genuine and are too be taken as it is. If not will it now be a misconduct from now on to praise referees? How can the FA even determine for sure if the comment is sarcastic or not?

He missed most of the season because of injury..and yes he returned last 2 weeks iirc, since then he played under-21 games, train with first team and travel for senior game..to regain match fitness..He is the same mould as Matic..with better playmaking ability.

If the board really give green light for Mou to use second strings against Liverpool, Matic will be in contention for pivot role.

Why hasn't been MVG playing? I thought he has returned from injury for awhile now. Is he a deeper midfielder like Matic or is he more of Oscar's role?

Sturridge is back in full training today. Will he be available? We will find out soon enough. tongue.gif

I don't expect a drubbing of Chelsea unless Ake and Kalas plays if Jose goes all out in resting players which I really doubt he will go to that extreme. Luiz and Cahill are still a good enough match for us.

We = Chelsea and Liverpool fans

Us = Liverpool forwards

Why you see me here? I find less hypocrite fans here compared to two other threads of you know who. Soft spot for Chelsea because my cousin is a fan. He loved Zola. Always fun talking football with him and I love discussing football with rival fans as well as long as we can do it rationally.

well..you see me at your thread too..hahaha if you guys talked about something interesting.. tongue.gif

I read that you guys talked about Director of Football..I used to hate the idea of DoF but Mr. Emenalo really change my mind about this..he is the current Technical Director/Director of Football of Chelsea..former Cheif Scout and a few other positions.

He is the person responsible for our's signing since Ramires..all of them except Torres, because this transfer was handled by Roman's most trusted right hand woman..Marina Granovskaia.

the idea of DoF must be clear..Emenalo responsible for scouting, targeting and bring in the players with the final say in the hand of the managers. Mourinho before this cant work with DoF..but now..he is different..that is why we are so swift in transfer window plus stockpiling talents around Europe. tongue.gif

maybe because both of them already guaranteed by Scolari to be in WC already..so less spark to fight for WC spot. Luiz even in contention for Brazil's Captain.

and those diving in penalty box, he was good previous 2 seasons.. sweat.gif just dont know what happen to him doh.gif.

the best formation now is paring luiz/lampard with matic, and i cant find a place for ramires in our "normal' formation with salah+hazard + schurlle/oscar as trident, he is only useful when we park the aeroplane, and need moto to counter.

there is one problem with matic, his match fitness, tend to worn out after 70min++ of the game. he lost concentration after that.

Since Ram's drop of form, I can say that our best pivot partnership for now is Luiz + Matic.

Matic sometimes nearing the end of game, he's stamina is all off. But as he progress, I'm sure he'll improve on that. Luiz is as usual, a beast playing in pivot role.

Lamps juz playing bit part role this season (old legs and preparing for retirement? tongue.gif). Hope Mou integrate MVG more into the team, MVG + Matic is a really promising pairing in pivot. Can't wait to see this partnership.

As for Luiz, I hope Mou turn him into permanent pivot player, get back Zouma to back up for Terry and Cahill.

For next season, I hope to see Luiz, Matic, MVG and Ram fight for pivot position. 1 more player as emergency back up, either Mikel/Lamps. And also 1 of Mikel/Lamps to leave after WC. hmm.gif

Clubs won't be excluded from next season's Champions League for breaking Financial Fair Play rules, according to UEFA President Michel Platini

UEFA appointed former Belgium prime minister Jean-Luc Dehaene to lead the panel investigating club accounts. Serious sanctions will be decided by a panel led by Jose Cunha Rodrigues of Portugal, a judge at the European Court of Justice.

Expulsion from the Champions League and second-tier Europa League are the toughest penalty UEFA reserves.

First and lesser offenders will likely face fines and sanctions such as limits on registering players for UEFA competitions.

Then why introduce FFP? doh.gif doh.gif Like slapping on own mouth this Platini. doh.gif

Fines lol as if City and PSG give a damn. Limits won't matter much either with their big squads unless you stop their highest paid players from being registered.

City isn't gonna be punished anyway for next season at least since they are not under investigation according to them. The suspicious one here now is PSG.

Really, I don't know what they implement this in the first place. If we knew, we don't have to sell of De Bruyne or Mata to fund the buying of Matic and Salah.

i always wonder if we are the one in that predicament would we have the same treatment by UEFA? as i remember they never been a great fan for CFC 1) his statment when bayern lost to us in the final on penalty shoot out, think penalty shoot out is unfair 2) differing statement on players on loan whether can play against parent club

Who was it here that prefers Balotelli over Costa? Can't quite remember and here is an article on "Why Always Me?".

Odds are, he probably belongs somewhere on the Bendtner-to-Cantona spectrum. Where you place him is down to you.

Personally, I would prefer Costa over Balotelli.

When Balo is good, he is class, no doubt, but in the same time, he is a time bomb, dangerous mang, might self destruct in games, might brawl between teammates. Still rmb his time in Man City. shakehead.gif

Costa is more seasoned imho.

So Costa 1 Balo 0. tongue.gif

R.I.P to Tito. did not noe much bout him except he was once Barca's coach. Gotta say he did so much better than the current coach for Barca.

Hodgson muz b having a headache now. Thinking shud he recall JT. JT + Cahill is the defense pairing that concede the least goal in PL. The table stats don't lie. tongue.gif

btw, since we're on the topic for team of the seaon, my choice is

Marshall; Shaw, Cahill, Koncielny, Coleman; Yaya, Gerrard, Lallana; Sterling, Suarez, Rodriguez

If u guys watch Cardiff's games/highlight, Marshall made a lot, A LOT of crucial save and point blank saves. Why no Terry? Coz I'm still emo dat he scored the own goal against Palace. That moment is still playing in my mind, such a crucial stage of the season, sigh. Lallana ahead of Ramsey simply bcoz Ramsey was unfit for a lengthy period. If Ramsey played more match, I'll opt for him instead. The front line speaks for itself.

No Hazard coz....I feel he still lacks something in his game...yup, I'm being very critical and having high hopes from Hazard. tongue.gif

He is 1 of the best in our team no doubt. But sometimes, when we need him, he still goes missing in matches. Early on the season he was on form, no doubt, but at the 2nd half of the season, I think his form kinda dropped a little.

So many games we needed his sparks in the 2nd half of the season, especially games against Palace and Villa. I duno, maybe he has been playing too much matches, fatigue or something.

I expect great things from Hazard. I hope he can add even more goals to his games, I wan him to be Ronaldo-ish instead of Ribery-ish. tongue.gif

Hazard = ronaldo-ish
Salah = bale-ish

But i agree with the bold part.but we need everyone on the trident to become better next season.

- I want to see willian to be more brave and confident in making shots and decision + improve freekick and corner kick

- I want to see oscar to become better, creative and consistent because we have high hope on him

- I want to see schurlle to improve on his touch and tackle

- I want to see salah to be able to coop, communicate and have better relationship with the team so that the team trust him more after this.not to mention improve his shoot on target

- I want to see hazard to be better than before this biggrin.gif.

JUventus lodged 20m for Ramires, Lampard set to pen one year extension.

Catalan set to offer 20m + 1 younger for Ramires

I'd personally let him try to prove himself for one more season; especially with so many midfielders we have in our squad. If he could hold down his spots in first XI I reckon he still have future in Chelsea. Or else we still have more youngsters to step up.

Though he is still refining his game, Hazard has drawn parallels with his playing style and that of Barcelona superstar Messi.

"If I had to choose, I'd say my body type and style of playing means I'm closer to Messi," Hazard told Spanish paper Sport.

"Ronaldo is more of an athlete - he's good at everything. He runs fast, he's strong.

"So I would say I'm closer to Messi. But obviously I don't score as many goals as he does."

Or else we still have more youngsters to step up.

agree with the bolded part. Last season Ram has been playing quite well. Just this season, duno why mcm headless chicken. I still rmb him scoring the chip against Barca, very Brazillian-like. He has all the skills and technique, his trademark remains his energetic display.

1 more season for him. If still headless chicken, reckless in his challenge, then datz it, we have more than enuff midfielders in pivot positions. Luiz, Matic, MVG, Lamps, Mikel. Not to mention if Romeu and McEahren returns from loan.

Where is the logic. If Courtois can play against us, there shud not be anymore cup-tied rules also right? hmm.gif

If only we had Matic against Atletico. doh.gif

I think fans should be ready to see Luiz go to Barcelona. Many would hate it, but from some reliable sources, Barcelona seems to closing in the deal.

Seen it coming all along. Since last season, Barca has been linked to Luiz dy. With Puyol retiring soon, Barca more interested in Luiz.

Would not be surprised if a bid comes in. If it is like 30m, who would not be tempted? I would say we take the deal, and spend the 30m unearthing gems like MVG, Azpi. whistling.gif

But ideally, I hope Luiz stays and bcum the complete midfielder. icon_idea.gif
