You can use normal transparent scotch tape. Looks good also.
At least better than black spacebar..  sweat.gif

The leopold keyboard is not mine, just take from internet.
That is Leopold FC660C using green blank keycaps. The spacebar is put reverse mount (or in other term, upside down for more better typing experience).

Below picture only is my keyboard.

That RF 10th anniversary is yours or internet photo?? sweat.gif

Normal transparent scotch tape will make a slippery key surface no?

as for lack of a better term: "more better typing experience",

I shall now try to put the spacebar key in reverse position...

Attached Image

I've sense the different when typing, difficult to tell if it is better or worse...
lets see after one week...

IIRC, if there's acetone it'll harm the ABS keycaps.

Mine hasn't started shining yet, so I don't really have anything to worry for, although I'm just paranoidly stocking up just in-case disaster happens and I notice the shine :|

Somehow if you only use single layer of scotch tape, then the surface is smooth, not until slippery.
Then you can add another layer of tape that different like perforated etc.
This is just a poor man spacebar. nod.gif
I will not get another hhkb keycaps set just for the white spacebar of hhkb, so, I'm still ok with the tape. sweat.gif

You should try it first if you like the scotch tape on the spacebar or not?
Or you can use transparent duct-tape which has woven surface better for grip. smile.gif

Although I like the texture of the 3M matte surface tape,
I just can't stand sticking something on top of key(s) doh.gif
It kinda feel like bandage on a wound,
but I don't mind mix using different colors of keys,
see my board there, the keys are varied in colors anyway tongue.gif

Still I have no choice laugh.gif
Because I will make my abs keycaps shinny in very short time. >15hours typing per day on hhkb. nod.gif
That's why is poor man spacebar as I claimed just now. Btw, I just accept the fact that topre whole keycaps set are pbt except the spacebar. sweat.gif

Does the tape become shiny tongue.gif

Maybe someday they will make a different colors spacebar doh.gif
But I hope they make spacebar made of PBT...

I will try to get a few extra Topre spacebar,
and try to cut the stems out to glue them into a PBT spacebar ...

See if it work tongue.gif if that work, I can sell you a white one if I success. tongue.gif

Really don't know will shiny or not. Haha. But can change the tape, so don't worry.
Topre already ceased production of their keycaps. laugh.gif
Maybe you glue the stem it on OEM pbt cherry switch spacebar. icon_idea.gif

The HHKB white is not really white. It's white beige, but lighter color than Filco white beige. sweat.gif

So, maybe we wait for topre-to-MX Cherry stem. smile.gif

My original idea is to cut the stem from Topre spacebar and glue the stems on OEM PBT Cherry Spacebar with the cherry stem cut away...... doh.gif
didn't I make myself clear in the previous posts? or my English is really that broken?

Don't be so particular la doh.gif little different colors wouldn't harm......
your Fn key is in different color anyway tongue.gif

What? stop production???
Does it mean if our keys broken we are screwed?

but come to think of it, it probably won't have any problem until the whole keyboard is broken except the spacebar that is. doh.gif

Yup, stop production. brows.gif
Currently, you still can buy the left-over replacement keycap sets in the market.
We still do not know the future.

I don't know about you guys, but after I tried flipping the spacebar around (like in that image), I'm never going back to the normal spacebar orientation. It just feels so much better.

same thing applies to all electronic.
general rule is to let your keyboard dry off completely before plugging it into your computer.

one effective way is to open up the keyboard to expose the PCB, (in most cases, opening the keyboard will void warranty, proceed at your own risk) as the "craziness" of a keyboard is most probably due to the water causing short between connectors on the PCB.
if you are lucky, the microcontroller isn't fried, thus drying the PCB will make your keyboard healthy again.

if you don't want to open up the keyboard, another way i can think of is to take off all the keycaps, and leave it under the fan or a hot area for drying things. leave it for drying for at least 1 day.

Option A:
1. Don't spill shit on your electronics.
2. There is no step 2.

Option B:
1. Remove keycaps.
2. Remove outer case. You spilled water, warranty gone anyways.
3. Buy rice. Uncooked rice from Tesco. I'm serious. Only buy from Tesco.
4. Put PCB in rice.
5. COMPULSORY STEP: Pray.
6. Wait one day.
7. See if rice is cooked. If yes, you forgot to unplug keyboard and you're screwed. Otherwise proceed to step 8.
8. Proceed here.
9. Plug keyboard back, test all the keys using key testing software. (http://www.otd.kr/bbs/board.php?bo_table=aikon_down&wr_id=50)
10. Proceed to OMGWTFBBQ plan if there are sticky keys.

Reverse-mount spacebar
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Different people have different typing habits.
Normal mount, I tends to press on the sharp edges on bottom spacebar.
When in reverse mount, the sharp edges not there anymore. So, it's comfortable for me to press the spacebar.
