Recently I won a contest from Ducky Taiwan. I won the ticket to visit the COMPUTEX TAIPEI 2014 from 5th-7th of June. You are able to view and try out latest products by Ducky(Ducky Mini and Ducky Legend probably) and also view the products by other top manufacturers. However I am not able to go to Taipei for this such a rare opportunity and I am willing to transfer this opportunity to someone who can go. If you are interested, please drop me a PM. Thanks =)

Err... new to pad printing keycap? It's pretty normal, must have been really abused to gets that prints rubbed off.
Well, it's time for new keycaps... brows.gif This is what MKB is for.
FYI mine only last me 1 week before I change to another set of keycaps.
*
For a RM300+ keyboard I expected the keycap printing to last longer. Haha, guess I was mistaken.

Also, I'm bringing my Filco TKL blue switch out with me now. The size is acceptable but the noise is ridiculous. Will brown switches help with the noise issue? The blue ones are too loud to be used at the library now.

Erm, even RM300+ keycaps made from ABS would shine after a whole lot of heavy usage. sweat.gif If you want long term reliability get thick PBT keycaps.

Yes, Brown is much more quieter then blue.

Just like me, PBT Dyesub Keycaps, the feels is absolutely brilliant brows.gif *spraying poisons* Not too expensive, just around RM250 I bought whistling.gif
And yes, Brown will definitely quieter but if want to use in absolute quiet library, you can add o-ring, especiall the thick one will absorb even more noise from bottoming the switches. Well, typing habit/method also affect the noise I guess, touch typist will surely have less noise than heavy typist of which they tend to bottom out the keycaps. sweat.gif

*poisoned* Next paycheck definitely need to get a MX Brown keyboard. But wouldn't o-ring affect the whole typing experience? I imagine it would feel more 'plastic-y' or 'membrane-y' after attaching o-ring to the keycaps.

I'm also using Ninja TKL with Browns but fitted with O-rings. Quieter and softer (sound and impact) when bottoming out. But I'm still using stock keycaps. Saving up for PBT in the future. tongue.gif

As for the feel with O-rings, it's personal preference. For me, the reduced key travel distance helps me to stop right after the tactile bump, so to me it feels as if the bump is more pronounced. Because without O-rings the keys travel further and I barely feel the bump unless I don't bottom out. But that's just me.

I also feel that the soft landing helps me reduce fatigue on my fingers/wrist, so +1 for ergonomics.

O-rings are cheap and reversible anyway. So can give it a shot

I don't have O-rings myself, type at my own room at home, does not feels the need to.
However look at reply below for personal experience with MX Brown + O-rings. wink.gif
Overall it changes the bottoming out feels with shorten bottoming distance. brows.gif

Ergo Clears. More likely to end up going 55g rather than 62g.

Changing springs? So are you going to de-solder the switches, change springs and solder it back? hmm.gif
Wonder how long will the switches last with all the re-soldering? shocking.gif

if your switches are plate mounted then need to desolder. if it's pcb mounted then don't have to desolder. can just change switch/spring with the plate intact.

LOL, this comment would get a warn from goldfries if this thread was still in the Hardware forum. but seriously, i dont mind helping if you can get more ppl to order more than 10 keycaps. for my order (10 keycaps), the shipping is just US$9, so its just additional rm3 per keycap for the shipping
