Filco NKRO Test

Majestouch 2 users, could you spare a minute and test your own boards and see if this turns up?
*
Try pressing both Shift keys at the same time. See whether it helps. Let me know after you try.

It seems like you activated stickykeys in windows 8, the beep was the proof.

From the video, Alt + F in chrome mean drop down menu of chrome.
Alt + F4, mean close the window.

The keyboard still can press from the video. Please check whether your stickykeys activated and let us know further.
Thanks.

Well I've read on GeekHack forums that another user encountered this issue, I just wanted to confirm if it's just specific people (in which case, I will RMA it) or if it affects other brands and majority of Filco users.
*
You should RMA it.
I don't have ps/2 to try, so I only use 6kro for my Filco.

Noted. That's strange, I thought all Filco boards come with a PS/2 adapter included within the box itself.
*
My Filco box got that ps/2 adapter compartment but no see any ps/2 adapter only.
Btw, I bought this Filco 2nd hand. laugh.gif
So, maybe the seller forget to give or maybe the seller didn't get that adapter also. laugh.gif

You did not comment anything at the first place, other than just pasted a link there to ask people join.

>MS Windows, Apple OS X, and Linux/Unix Compatible
if one ever use other os than ms windows then that keyboard is a good choice.

Members here do not really recommend things which is not worth, especially similar products which is available locally.
*
The cross platform OS compatible is just a gimmick for that keyboard!!!!
Filco, Ducky, lousy membrane, HHKB do support cross-platform OSes.

Not recommended at all for the keyboard, just get a Filco like 016 said.

i think when they mention cross platform compatible, it means that when it detects as mac it'll change their layout to be mac (or dip switches? most probably dip switches)?
in mac, alt is right beside control and the command key should be right beside spacebar.

well what 016 said is true, a filco will do. keyboards do get detected and can be used on a mac. it's just a matter of layout.

read up about this: http://www.cultofmac.com/271485/hacking-fi...ork-mac-review/
*
By default when keyboard plugged-in to mac, the win-key will converted to command-key. For linux case, win-key converted to meta-key.
We have to re-map it by swapping the meta <--> alt.

Guys, what's a good 60% keyboard that has arrow keys and preferably no backlight (and reasonably priced). I'm looking at the Vortex Pure Pro atm, but it seems like this model has LED backlight.

The dark grey case is Graphite.

So, anything wrong with the white?

To me, you can order either ISO layout or ANSI layout for this 60% keyboard.

Sweet. How can you live without the arrow keys though I wonder? I code websites for a living and the arrow keys are an essential part of my workflow.
*
60% do have arrow keys but you need trigger it with FN (default layout) or other keymap method like below post (link provided).
https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...&#entry67482868

If you have any idea, please let me know.

Haha, I need the arrow keys to be quick and physically accessible. Fn or mouse wheel will slow it down a whole lot IMO. But sweet tips there, thanks!
Might get the GMK one if the DSA Dolch is not to my liking. icon_idea.gif
Wahhhh, damn swee la. Mine's on its way. Hopefully will get it in 10 days or so. thumbup.gif

I'm curious to know normally how you use the arrow keys in coding websites?
Give some examples, so every coders able to gain benefits from it.
Thanks in advanced.

Perhaps. I've reached out to Daitec since then. You're right though, NKRO is a nice thing to have but it's not exactly necessary. I find PS/2 responds somewhat quicker to keystrokes, that's been my finding at least. Ah well, I'll bite my bullet and eat it. For the price of this Majestouch 2 Ninja, I could have gotten the swankiest CM Storm board. tongue.gif
*
Since you just get the RMA icon_idea.gif Filco..
You can sell it then buy the swankiest CM Storm board. laugh.gif
Thanks for your finding, we finally know that Filco is only x-KRO (limited) instead of N-KRO (unlimited). cry.gif

Hi can you spoonfeed me for this info?>I'm convincing my friend to get a filco TKL instead of Corsair K70 but I can't find any good reason.
First of all, is the corsair 100% mod-able for its key caps?
Secondly, How is the build quality as compared to the Filco? I know Filco is the best, but how do I describe it? I just can't tell my friend : Filco is da best, get Filco.
Lastly, huh? no more post count?
*
As you wish, Legend.

K70 use non-standard layout, use 6.5u spacebar (very rare spacebar, hard to source). The keycaps set hard to source, need 2x 1.5u/ 3x 1u/ 2x 1.25u modifiers keys and 1x 6.5x spacebar.
There are a lot of customer reviews saying that the LED die easily (LED defects), very high failure rates.
You need very high luck so you won't get a defective K70. sad.gif
So, the build quality is not that good since have defective issues.

Filco is king of manufactured Cherry MX switch keyboard.
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Build quality top tier, never heard of any defective issue. Very solid when you type on it, more solid than other brands.
Keyboard is about typing feel, you can bring your friend to shop that sell Filco and test type on it and compare with other brands keyboards.
You will know immediately from the typing. Maybe you find a shop let him try Filco, then after that try your CM Storm. sweat.gif
Filco use standard layout, very easy to find replacement keycaps set.

Hardware Clubs/ Brands Discussions sub-forum don't give any post count.
MKB thread is inside this sub-forum.
