cheapo abs is mx blue sounds better than thin pbt and thick pbt.
abs able to bring out the crispy clicky sounds from the MX blue.
Pbt will make mx blue sounds sharper sad.gif

hmm.gif then what about the Cherry profile and OEM profile? please enlighten me sifu..... i thought profile is the height difference and the picture i showed is the ", no? huhuhu
*
OEM(Original Equipment Manufacturer) key caps profile or standard profile are come from manufactured stock keyboard such as mainstream brand Vortex, WASD, DAS, Filco, Ducky, Deck etc etc.

Cherry Profile typically found in those keyboards made by them or aftermarket keycaps like imsto, bsp, gmk, etc. Cherry profile is lower in height compared to OEM.

Then, I think I'll have to just go with CM Storm Quickfire TK Ultimate. It's not like the keycaps on it are that easy to spoil right?
*
Any special reason you want to stick with CM Storm QF TK?

Because there are 1 or 2 guys in this thread in one of the previous pages told me to go with it.

I believed they recommend you Ultimate instead of TK.
Here are some pictures of each model.

I will most probably not go with Filco, because of the price. For CM Storm QuickFire, I will just go with whichever that is cheaper. I think it's the TK version that will be cheaper right?
*
By the way, which layout you like?
Full layout - QuickFire Ultimate
96 layout - QuickFire TK
Tenkeyless (TKL) - Filco TKL

Layout is important. Each layout has different brands and price too. There are a lot of brands of there. smile.gif

Or you could go for the old Razer Blackwidow 2013. Go for old stock cause they will be cherry mx blue. If you get 2014 or new stock then its razer's own green switch which some claim its a china copy of cherry switches. The good thing is its old stock so can bargain for more discount. That is if you are after razer la.
*
Please don't. Razer blackwidow always out of the choice. mad.gif
Just choose some decent keyboard like rosewill, ducky, filco, vortex.

Ya but if you look at my earlier comment my advised was to get the 2013 version which is cherry mx blue. You are telling me about the 2014 blackwidow series which I also did mention about their questionable razer switches.

Unless 2013 version also has issues. I would like to know. I am using one and am very interested. My own research tell me its one of the top 5. That is why I want to know the reason behind his comments. I spend some good money on this keyboard. If it has issues I would like to know.

My source Lifehacker.com, PCmag.com, Tomsguide.com, Pcworld.com, Amazon.com, ok here is my google results google.com best mech keyboard

Come on guys enlighten me (wesak day just around the corner  tongue.gif )

Welcome to mechanical keyboard club. laugh.gif
I did clicked all the links provided by you.
I take Lifehacker.com as example below.

Lifehacker article:
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

From the articles, I only know some information about this keyboard. I list it out below:
- Razer BlackWidow Ultimate using Cherry MX blue (louder but not horribly loud), Razer BlackWidow using Cherry MX Brown (quieter)
- Razer BWU is full-size with 6 programmable keys on the left side
- individual-key LED backlighting with adjustable brightness, media controls on function keys
- additional usb port
- braided cables
- audio passthrough
- on-the-fly macro recording
- $111 at amazon, $139 direct buy from Razer

From your perspective, do you think the articles give you enough informations?

Noted, just that my point was its on the list. Thats all. As mention earlier all other mech kbd are way better than normal kbd. My opinion for mech kbd, the most important thing is the switches. Cause that is the main component, the component that is required to be most reliable and accurate. A lousy switch on even the best kbd chassis will not be great unless I also got this wrong too. Hence my doubt about Razer's new green and orange switches. Basic I will say why go for china (razer qc) vs made in Germany.

Reason why cherry switches is very obvious. Unless I also got this part wrong.

btw its blackwidow ultimate 2013 we are talking about (cherry mx switches) if its the 2014 version then its questionable.
*
Ya, mkb all about the switches. You are right.
Same brand switches on different board do feel differently. That's why brand like Filco so godly.
About the Razer BlackWidow 2013, their MX Cherry Blue not as loud(dampen) as other brands.

So, for lifehacker article, IMO really unprofessional. You agreed that switches are the most important part.
When you look at lifehacker article, they mentioned mx blue is loud, mx brown is quieter. rclxub.gif
They not even mentioned that MX blue is heavier tactile+clicky, MX brown is lighter tactile switch.

The reason why I not recommend Razer Blackwidow although it's using mx blue because:
- non-standard layout (it's hard to find replacement keycaps)
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Why we need replace our keycaps? Because abs keycaps will get shiny after long time of typing (few months)
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

You can get replacement keycaps set like pbt materials because it resist to shiny. Everyone here bought mechanical keyboard for long run.
Most of us target above 5-20 years at least.

For BWU to replace keycaps, you need buy a normal keycaps set, and a tsangan kit (picture in the spoiler below), additional cost.
Not all keycaps set do have tsangan kit option. blink.gif
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Futhermore, when the keyboard plate corroded when you use the keyboard for long time. Maybe we will want to replace the plate on the keyboard.
Alu or stainless steel plate.
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

BWU does not support this kind of plate replacement, because BWU not standard layout.

And, standard layout do support changing casing.
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Because of a simple non-standard layout, you limit yourself in mechanical keyboard's modability, maintainability for long run.
