Today I look and study to prepare bible discussion for this Friday. It is about Parable of the Sower.

Luke 8 - The Parable of the Sower

4 While a large crowd was gathering and people were coming to Jesus from town after town, he told this parable: 5 “A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path; it was trampled on, and the birds ate it up. 6 Some fell on rocky ground, and when it came up, the plants withered because they had no moisture. 7 Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up with it and choked the plants. 8 Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up and yielded a crop, a hundred times more than was sown.”

When he said this, he called out, “Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear.”

9 His disciples asked him what this parable meant. 10 He said, “The knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of God has been given to you, but to others I speak in parables, so that,

“‘though seeing, they may not see;
though hearing, they may not understand.’[a]

11 “This is the meaning of the parable: The seed is the word of God. 12 Those along the path are the ones who hear, and then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, so that they may not believe and be saved. 13 Those on the rocky ground are the ones who receive the word with joy when they hear it, but they have no root. They believe for a while, but in the time of testing they fall away. 14 The seed that fell among thorns stands for those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by life’s worries, riches and pleasures, and they do not mature. 15 But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop.

The verse in bold is convicting for myself especially recently because I also tend to easily worry, greed and discouraged. This month I was kinda stressed out and worry about my untenanted unit but I believe God provides the tenant just at the right timing at the end. Then for my personal part-time, I did put a lot of effort for months but not much result and this is quite discouraging sometimes. But recently received some sales from some 'customer' whom come by themselves. Thinking back, I don't really deserve all these blessing because there are many area/character I am not as Christ-like smile.gif

Hopefully this verse can serves as a reminder and help you too. nod.gif

p/s another good passage relatable for our struggles:

Matthew 6:25-34, "Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you shall eat, or what you shall drink; nor about your body, what you shall put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: for they neither sow nor reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they neither toil nor spin: And yet I say to you, that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore do not worry saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, What shall we wear? For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things."

Being Chosen

Although we may stand on the Word of God and say, "I know that I have been chosen because the Bible tells me so," I would still ask this question: how do we know from our experience that we have been chosen by God? We know it by the fact that we cannot get away from Him.

During the many years of our Christian life, we have tried many times to get away from the Lord. We have even said to Him, "Lord, I am tired of the Christian life. I am running away." Although we tried to run away, we could not do it. While some Christian workers are afraid of your staying away from the Lord, I have the boldness to encourage you to stay away from Him. Try your best to do it, telling Him, "Lord, I don't love You anymore. I'm through with being a Christian." You may say this to the Lord, but He will reply, "Are you through with Me? It's not up to you. You may be through, but I am not. Where shall you go—to "Egypt" [the world]? If you go there, I'll go there to wait for you. When you get there, you will find that I'm already there." We all have been trapped, and there is no escape. This is strong proof that we have been chosen by God.

Actually what I don't understand is whether Joseph/Pharoah is real ruler or CEO, what is the point at the end? what is so important about it? What spiritual insight of all these? Because has been asking but this didn't get explanation or understand. IMO, it is not that important. So do not really need to be so into it.

As explained earlier, those kind of dealings are just natural events that even normal people like us faces. There is no concrete evidence that those dealings are even related to Jacob's supplant.
