Before 55 cannot take all out? Just wondering.
If you live in West Malaysia, need to wait til 50 or 55 http://mycpf.cpf.gov.sg/NR/rdonlyres/CF557...estMalaysia.pdf

If you wanna gtfo to anywhere else then i think can renounce PR and withdraw earlier.

SGD4k cannot rent own hdb, cannot afford car, have to rent room (or share room) and BMW (Bus MRT and Walk) everywhere.

Up to you whether that is worth it or not.

Travelling across the causeway just got more expensive.
SGD 35 VEP + RM 16.50 MY side toll + SGD 6.50 SG toll side
That adds up to about $50 a day i.e. $1000-ish a month just on VEP + Toll charges for someone living in JB and commuting daily to SG.

Wanna ask sifu here, I am relocating to SG, can I bring in all electrical appliances for example as simple as kettle, straightening iron for hair..
When I moved here, the relocations agent helped me fill in some duties/tax/gst waiver form of some sort to submit to some authority or other. unfortunately i didn't bother much with the details hmm.gif but there is a way to officially get these taxes waived if you want to do everything above water and in b&w.

whats the fresh grad salary for mechanical engineer in sg?

$3k-$4k I suppose. Good luck with your application though, the FCF already kick in today so it's probably harder for companies to justify hiring foreigners for starter jobs.

Hi,
My hdb 2 yrs contract end next year but i will be staying in for like few more months with my wife.  What is my option? Are there hdb for rental like 3 months etc?  As far as i know all comes with 1/2 years contract.
going to quit working in Sg soon so no point extend contract.
the d*ckhead way to do it:
renew lease / rent new place / whatever for 1 year
make sure got that clause inside where if u lose your right to work in SG then u can break the lease with X months advance notice
use your deposit as offset for last month rental with the landlord so that he/she can't sapu it

Only Professional Cert and 9 years working experience. As per the HR of the company, it seems Work Permit is very hard to be approved because I don't have degree or diploma. Is this correct?

9 years experience should still be OK provided you're getting hired for a professional job.

How about phone? Most of you use prepaid or postpaid? Any nice plan to recommend?
Just use postpaid whatever corporate plan your company have. If none then to be honest there isn't that much difference among the telco's. I'm on singtel.

im single and 29, should i stay in malaysia with Rm4500-5000 income? or should i go to sg with SGD4500?
the question is do you even have an offer at sgd4.5k now or are you just making an academic assumption?
singapore cost of living, 1:1, is a lot cheaper than Malaysia except for the "big two" of housing and private vehicular transport.
900sqft 3bedroom hdb = $400+k, of which you need to pony up 20% downpayment + 3-8% stamp duty. 900sqft 3bedroom condo = $1mil+++
basic entry level car is about $110k, of which you need to pony up 40% downpayment.

Guys i have a question. Let say if i were to leave Sg permanently before March 2015, will I still be taxed for 2014?? any lubang to work around this, hehehe.. need some creative input from the experts here. Many thanks in advance notworthy.gif
If you are asking whether you can say screw you IRAS you can assess me all you want but I'm not going to pay, then sure you can just not pay your tax in April-May 2015. As long as you plan to never work in SG again then OK lo.

Can I work in sg n drive my malaysia car to there? For a month/.
are you saying you only work in sg for a month?
or work in sg long(er) term and drive malaysia car in for the first month?
if you are SG work pass holder, by law only allowed to drive malaysia car in if you live in Malaysia. if u live in SG then not allowed to drive Malaysia car.

Hi deodorant, what do u think? Need ur advise.

eh don't fall for MacKiddo nonsense, he's the one earning 130k++ PA not me.

QUOTE(mules @ Aug 16 2014, 06:34 PM)
130k income in this land is pretty good!  1-2 oversea trips? Make it 10 and 5 stars and still keeping the lexus and condo.

Let's not get carried away. S$130k household income is NOT all sunshine and flowers. 3 bedoom condo (~1000 sqft) you need 20% d/p + 18% stamp duty = S$608k cash up front. That Lexus, let's say S$250k, is S$125k downpayment. Even with zero expenditure you'd need 5 and a half years to pony up that kind of cash.

S$130k is the "sandwich class" in Singapore. Paid too much for BTO and EC, but not paid enough to comfortably own private properties and private transport nowadays.

Hi i had been offered a job in SG and looking for some info. Hope this is not a repeated question. For room rentals, how much do i need to pay upfront? lets say the rental is SGD650 per month?

QUOTE(Living in a box @ Aug 16 2014, 05:38 PM)
by right it's 1 month for deposit + 1 month for security but you can negotiate it to just 1 month deposit.

standard rate
1 year lease: 1 month deposit 1/2 month agent fee and 1st month rental
2 year lease: 2 month deposit 1 month agent fee and 1st month rental

hi all, which bank do you save your hard earned money in SG? (which provide e-banking as well)
*
Savings / FD interest rates in SG are generally low as hell. Practically any bank would have e-banking/internet banking nowadays.

OCBC probably the highest interest rates at present (can consider a bit mah fan though) http://www.ocbc.com/personal-banking/accou...60-account.html

DBS / POSB has the widest ATM network around the country

I see MOM first year I f service entitle 7 days right? My first three month should be 3/12 X 7 days correct? Should be 1.75 days after my 3 months of work. But why my boss said I am only entitle leave after ONE year of service? Meaning my first year of service i HAVE NO annual leave.. Wow..

Nothing wrong here, you tak suka don't accept the job.

Many/most companies: I give you the entire year leave on day 1 and let you schedule when you want to take it within the year.
Half-*******: You work one month you get one day, you work another month you get another day (example)
Complete-*******: You work one whole year then only I give you 1 year worth of annual leave to use during the next year (your company)

if your a malaysian working in singapore but stay in JB, you cant bring in alcohol and that the "no duty" on the first bottle only applies to foreigners bullshit.
I do know that Duty Free allowances in Malaysia only apply if you've been out of the country for 72 hours (except Labuan / Port Dickson I think). So assuming your friend commutes daily then yes he isn't entitled for any duty free allowances.

DBS eSavings or just DBS Savings? That's the difference doh.gif Maybe I shall try my luck when I'm there. See whether they let me open.

DBS eSavings. Comes with ATM card. No idea what's the difference between eSvaings and Savings.
