can I enter to Singapore with less than 6 months validity of passport WITH a work permit?

I have no idea what the official / legal stance is, but I have entered SG with <6 months passport validity using the Autogates on EP.

I think Green Emerald is saying can he/she qualify for all the low income benefits back in Malaysia when he/she works in SG.

Sort of like how some low lifes here work happily in SG get big bucks but go and declare 0 income and take BR1M back in MY.

I heard nowadays alot of d*** house owners want a LOI letter of intent and cheque to prove that the "future" tenant is serious about renting a whole unit. And the tenancy agreement is nowhere to be seen.

What a joke.
I thought this was standard procedure? I rent two different hdb with two different agent also same thing. at time of viewing, issue Letter of Intent and give 1 month cheque first to 'seal the deal' so that landlord don't consider other ppl offer. After that only slowly sign tenancy agreement, etc, then 1st day of move in only give another 2 months deposit (i rented both times oso 2 year lease).

Zicco. In that case if you are not PR,you might get tax at 15% flat rate in SG for your income if you didn't manage to fulfill the 183 days resident in SG.

Just a thought.

The 183 days thing applies to tax residency, which is different from your actual (country of) residency.

QUOTE(IRAS)
If you are here for at least 183 days in a year
Under our tax residency rules, you will be regarded as a tax resident if you stay or work in Singapore for at least 183 days in a calendar year. The number of days in Singapore includes weekends and public holidays.

HDB to rent with budget about 2k. Preferably semi furnished. Work place is near Jurong East MRT Station
Edit I am not looking for property agents. Don't pm please.

QUOTE(Poopular @ Jun 27 2014, 12:30 AM)
If it is max 2k budget for rental of whole HDB unit, there are not many choices to start with.

Should be OK ba, West area the HDB rental and prices seem to be a tad bit lower than the rest of the island so it's probably possible to get an older, smaller (2-bedroom or studio) hdb.

I have tried to look at the jobstreet and see those experience, expected salary, and education level by the applicants.
I just see quite some with like 8 years only putting expectation like $2500-$3000 only.Making me think it is too competitive in the  IT field in Singapore because I am expecting $3500 or more lo.

8 years experience in IT should be aiming at least around $80k-$100k per annum, at least that is what I understand from our resident IT gurus chanti-sama and ky-khor

QUOTE(LVL1NiNjA @ Jul 3 2014, 09:33 AM)
I am planning to work here, what jobs are recommended for freshies or entry-level?
Whatever you can get your hands on. As a freshie just take anything to get a foot in the door then later only see how (assuming you're desperate to work in SG from the start).

Salary: SGD 3700 per month
If the salary enough in singapore (single)
Depends on your lifestyle. $1k-$1.5k monthly would be a decent basic single person monthly expenses, but of course different people have different understanding of what is "decent."

Either be a banker or venture into O&G. you can ask mackiddo& deodorant for more info.

IT sux in Sigapore.
MacKiddo as elite oil and gas taiko is accurate. but unfortunately me no banker, me only IT Kuli who happens to work in a bank and like you said, IT sux in Singapore. Want real banker experiences must ask keeganz and Fiona Chin, if both of them combine income I think maybe got $400-$500k per annum.

As long as you stay PR, you don't need to give up your M'sia license. You only give it up once you convert into S'pore citizen. However, Singapore driving license is an international license with no expiry. So, you never have to renew.
Technically and legally, this is incorrect.
You are only allowed to drive in Singapore using a Foreign License for the first year you are here. http://driving-in-singapore.spf.gov.sg/ser...nformation.html Therefore legally, your second year onwards even at EP/WP/SPass status already you need to have Singapore license.
According to law, you are NOT allowed to hold Singapore and Malaysia license simultaneously

SPECIAL PROVISIONS FOR SINGAPOREAN DRIVING LICENCE

- Any holder who has obtained the Singaporean driving licence will have his Malaysian driving licence revoked by virtue of Section 29(b) of the Road Traffic Act 1987.

- If the holder's residence/work duration/contract has expired in Singapore, he can apply for a Malaysian competent driving licence by using a confirmation letter issued by the relevant authority in Singapore.

- While holding a Singapore driving licence, the licence holder can drive any Malaysia vehicles registered in Malaysia or Singapore.

Why is the deal with most of you guys/girls wanting to apply for PR? Don't you all know you kena a 36% indirect tax smile.gif
Where got tax, forced savings lah. Buy property can use OA to downpayment and pay housing loan. After 55 give up PR get back all the money, gtfo buy a treehouse back in treepipu land and hunt babi hutan using sumpit.

In the meantime, no PR can't buy HDB, need to buy $1mil+++ condo and pay 18% stamp duty. If u elite enough like Fiona Chin and gnc88 then OK lor, the rest of us either apply PR to buy HDB or rent for 30 years.
