My wife will be coming to stay with me in Singapore and she would like to travel to JB for work from 8am to 5pm. Wondering the traffic condition at these times.

Did I read that right, stay in SG work in JB? hmm.gif

TS may mark down for other to reference

Updated front page. Although seems like getting too cluttered liao, probably V17 whoever opens the thread can figure out some better way to organize the information lol.

I receive a job offer of sgd 2200/month.. I know that I should go because my current salary just RM2000.. only thing I concern about is how much of tax I need to pay? as for housing I have cousin over there..

QUOTE(almeizer @ Sep 26 2014, 01:32 PM)
But for your case, first year can't be resident tax because stay less than 183 days.

It's fine as long as TS works more than 183 days. For this year he will be taxed at Non-Res rates but sometime next year once he hits 183 (or 1 year? not too sure exact dates here) he can apply to IRAS to re-assess his this year tax and they will re-calculate it as a resident.

Anyone know how end-of-life (10 years) cars works in SG?

Just as an example, assuming one buys a Mar-2006 registered Proton Savvy for $8.8k, which has an OMV of $7.7k.

In Feb-Mar 2016 the COE expires and car deregisters.

According to OneMotoring site it seems you would be eligible for a 50% ARF rebate which translates to 50% of OMV i.e. $3.85k

So effectively you'd have paid $4.95k to use a car for almost 2 years (not including road tax insurance etc etc lah.

Is that how it works?

Guys, I am trying to figure out if I need to pay VEP by entering Singapore after 5:30pm and back to JB at 7:00am.
I checked with LTA website and it just mentioned the VEP-free time: 5pm - 2am when entering Singapore. Not sure about leaving. Advise..?

QUOTE(mcnoodle @ Oct 2 2014, 02:10 PM)
It's Entry permit, exit no charges.

Are you sure about that? If I enter on Sunday afternoon and exit on Monday afternoon I don't get charged? What about if I exit on Tuesday afternoon?

Old town la. Worse is they don't include GST into menu price. A bit misleading when the final price is higher than the menu  doh.gif

Eh this is standard practice in practically every single restaurant in Singapore, no? Whatever price you see on menu surely need to add 10% service charge and 7% GST hmm.gif

Starting from sept, any EP jobs need to publish in sg gov website for 2 weeks first only employer can hiring foreigner

1st august already in effect lah. https://www.emigra.com/emigra-immigration-n...-1-august-2014/ although it remains to be seen how effective this is in controlling influx of FT's - will MOM really enforce this properly or will companies just end up wayang and giving this lip service is anyone's guess.

Never go and read up on those zig zag line meaning ah? hmm.gif Anyone who drives regularly in Malaysia before coming over shouldn't have any problems with BTT cos it's so basic ...

QUOTE(GiNgEr^fIsH @ Oct 12 2014, 11:51 PM)
I just passed my btt. Studied for it. Let me know if you want the book, I can sell you 2nd hand price. No point buying brand new or attending the course. You can self study. Pm me if you're keen. Thanks

I not so smart mah....failed the first time n queue up again lor.....passed the second time...
who had failed the btt test b4? Or that's just me??? hmm.gif

Nothing to do with smart or not smart mang. the only part of BTT that is tricky would be the zig zag lines which Malaysia don't have. Everything else if you've been driving in Malaysia with non-kopi-O license previously with proper knowledge of the Basic rules of the road it is the same in Singapore as well hmm.gif

hmm.gif Then when I engage those agents advertising their rooms, aren't those agents engaged by the owner?

Summoning property guru AlaskanBunny and sgrealestate to clarify. But I guess normally the owner agent will spread the word among his/her colleagues then they are the ones who go look for tenant on propertyguru or whatever. 1 year lease = 1 month agent fee split between the tenant agent (who supposed to look out for your interests) and the landlord agent.

TS is the one with warning claiming LYN is his/her...
proper warnings should have been administered to stick to topic instead you are not welcome. right?

I totally did say "stay on topic" (or get out tongue.gif)

You didn't mention your qualifications, experience, etc. And anyway I dunno much about legal profession. Some salary surveys/guides here:
