I guess my graphic card hd7850 sapphire 2gb is dead? I get the gray screen after updating to 14.9 and playing for sometimes, not really heavy game imo, war thunder/men of war.

Tried
-using DDU in safe mode to clean ati driver
-restart but got the image

-tried to use DDU again
-manage to get into windows not safe mode but graphic card is shown as standard vga device
-installed ati driver, success but bluescreen same msg again

I tried using 14.4, 14.9, 14.9 beta 1, 14.11 beta all same. I even get red checkerboard after the loading windows prompt but didnt capture the image.  laugh.gif

hmm.gif did u OC Mem Gpu? or Ram? have u done Window reinstall? look like memory force to process faster than it should... but either way if u done reinstall window and still appear is have to be GPU mem or RAM...

Add-on:what cpu ur using? try use in-boards igpu, see if problem persist

Hi, my friends are asking me for opinions on his value-orientated build. Can you help me out?

Can you name some AMD cards that are good value? On top my head, I say the 285.

I can't recommend the 280x. It is priced too close to the Gainward Phantom 970, which is at RM1199.

I told my friend that the best value cards right now, IMHO are:

- 750ti (can use cheaper PSU and still 1080 at lower settings)
- 285 (the no brainer value card from AMD right now, comes with THREE AAA games)
- 970 (price to performance leader)

Lastly, I just can't justify buying AMD at the moment, except the 6350 (RM489). The i5 4460 is just too good a value at RM580. Almost all builds from Idealtech has them. Again, your thoughts.

Thank you in advance.

hmm.gif R9 285 is best bang for power/value/performance for AMD but depend what is your Current budget ? and Game you thinking to play? and current Max Resolution LCD/Monitor support ? do you mind using Second hand GPU? cause i see Sapphire R9 290 TriX selling RM900-1000 Garage(not pay higher than that as u can get GTX 970 RM1099 @idealtech)...

CPU is 3570k, not oc'd.
Never OC as long i had the card, only happened after i updated the driver 14.9. Previously i had it but it reverted back to normal but now cant get into normal windows 7 to check the Catalyst control panel to see if the overdrive(?) gone crazy or not since it cant find the graphic card "ccc cant detect/find ati/amd device" eventhough the 7800 series is detected in device manager. I dont think its computer ram issue since now im using the IGP and no bsod so far.

Might be the v-ram but im confused, can v-ram issue made that bluescreen atikmpag.sys occur? Googling since this morning up to 5pm found similar issue (amd/ati driver installation problem with previous version).

I even tried swapping the atikmpag.sys method but still same.

hm look V-ram is damage or corrupt.. is still under warranty? atikmpag.sys is gpu driver faulty or corrupt driver install.. hmm but red line saw in ur screencapture kinda note gpu ram issues... unsure.gif

ADD : remove the gpu and use igpu. see if u can enter into window... if no issues confirm is gpu and use DDU use option installing new gpu option.. and rma or buy second hand gpu on garage smile.gif

So what you do is to clear that testvbios and also increase the performance of the graphic card right ? but some says that 1gb graphic card is not recomended to flash the card?
*
i just flash the right bios to clear the testvbios.. only 6950 2gb is recommended for upgrade the bios to 6970.. i have tried to flash 6970 bios but no success.. the only thing that i can do is tweak the 6950 bios and unlock the shader from 1408 to 1536..

That is a weaker GPU,should be slightly more in terms of FPS. wink.gif

try this method.. disable ccc, overclock and overvolt the gpu a bit using afterburner or trixx.. last time i also facing same problem but after i oc the card 1120core, 1350mem, +50mv the problem solved.. the most important is overvolt the card and disable ccc.. oc without overvolt may not solve the issue..
