Bro, you are not alone. Last time I brought my Myvi there to change all 4 tyres and do wheel alignment, they screwed it up as well. After they did the alignment, when I drove the car it had a "dub" sound whenever I make a turn or go over bumps and I immediately went back to the shop after hearing it while driving off.

After the mechanic test drove my car, they claimed that my absorber was worn out and asked me to change it to get rid of the sound. I told them that before I brought to them to change tyres IT HAD NO SOUND. So why after changing tyres and doing alignment got sound? All the mechanic said is that they cant do anything and maybe the absorber so happen ("So ngam") gave problems.

After awhile, I gave up arguing with them and went back to my trusted mechanic in PJ to fix the problem. My mechanic fixed the problem within 2mins. Apparently that stupid guy at Hup Shun didn't tighten one of the nut at one of the arm bar below while doing the alignment which caused the sound.

I believe many ppl go to Hup Shun to change tyres due to their very competitive pricing (including myself) but most if not all their mechanics are probably noobs and new admit their mistake.

On-wheel balancing advantages:
• The machine is capable to ram-up the wheel speed up to 120km/h. Thus, solving the high speed vibration problem.
• Beside balancing the wheel, on-wheel balancing also balance up the imperfection of wheel hub, brake rotor and drive shaft.

Disadvantages:
• Put stress on final drive differential due to one side of the wheel is not moving.
• The process may leave some minor scratch marks on tyre sidewall.
• ABS warning light will illuminate due to the system detected some wheel is not moving.

That's right, this is the reason why some don't want to do on wheel balancing, too risky to get screwed by owners. Honda charge rm120 just to reset this bloody fault code.

Good questions. icon_idea.gif

LSD definitely can't!
Not sure for AWD. Different maker implemented different type of AWD system.

on-wheel balancing IS the so called high speed balancing.

The one where they remove the tires from the car and put on a machine is called off-wheel balancing.

On-wheel balancing allows the tires to be spun at high speed, and the balancing process accounts for the nett imbalance in the whole wheel assembly, including brake rotors / drum etc.

Thanks for clarification taiko.

On and off wheel balancing. Certain cars cannot do on wheel balancing if they have sensor inside, else it will screw up the fault code and you need to reset it.
So most of the shop will do off wheel balancing which accuracy at 50-60%(like you do 10 times, you need to return back and redo again for 4-5 times)
On wheel balancing is done on your car, if that fellow has skills, usually is 1 time only you pay them a visit.

Guys, looks like we are not alone.

http://www.fordownersclubmalaysia.com/foru....php?f=30&t=323

And it's a wonder that people are still willing to entrust their hard earned rides to shops like these.

-

If you know any friends who takes care of their cars, and wheels. Tell them

If you have any friends or acquaintances with supercars or expensive cars like BMWs or MERCs, etc.

TELL THEM.

Your friends/acquaintances may even thank you for keeping a look out for them.

Do not have the typical mindset of thinking "Oh, maybe it won't happen to me.. It just happened to some random guy on the internet forums." .. Well, you may be that unlucky one too. So will you risk your time, emotion and money?
