Since so many /k with 20k monthly income still shop at Daiso so frequent and buy so many things, here's a Daiso fan club for you folks.

Let's talk about anything Daiso, show off what you just bought, tell us your feedback & findings, and post any gooding stuffs you recommend.

Let's help AEON boost their Daiso sales so they can open more and more outlets across Malaysia, except, Kelantan that is of course.

I buy so many things until kenot remember liao, but most of them i actually do use them.

Recently i bud the 5meters weather strip for windows & doors, haven't applied dunno whether better than those rm40 (2meters only) sold in Ace Hardware.

Then i just installed made in vietnam made filter papers for exhaust fan which i use on my aircon since the size ngam ngam.

Then I bought many packets of dehumidifier, i recommend the Red packing x3 Black packet carbon dehumidifier + deodorizing packs. More worth than other types. But the x2 pack for shoe (yellow white packing) smells quite nice.

Also bought alot of acrylic casing to put small items.

Also the in car USB charger i haven't use.

Some mini ziplocks even though quite expensive for rm5 per pack.

Their Miso Sos & canned fish rm5 quite good price lo, outside sell more than rm10.

Then i buy a few of those sports support bands which outside shop sell at least rm20.

it looks lie a flat square plastic box but with vents, like ur air fragrance thing, i guess u just open the plastic wrap and put it where you don't want them to come.

i also saw some sticky carpet made to look like grass, suppose to stick insects when they walk across. their packaging shows cartoon ant sangkut on it so no need read description.

well. I'm frequent DAISO buyers (and other departmental stores), so it's fair for me to give feedback.

DAISO is more like additional choice for me to get items that I cannot get in departmental stores. But it is really like gamble, you need a few failed experiences from DAISO to learn what is good what is not good:

Good buys:
- Plastic food storage. I have bought like 10++ different type of box storage. Most of them are pretty impressive and good quality. But remember good box usually sold out very fast, need to wait for restock.

- One-Time mop clothes. 45 pieces in a pack, quality is good.

- Small bottle/sprayer to store pills, cosmetic, water. It's good, but like plastic food storage, good stuffs finish very fast, need to wait.

- Small dustbin for my room. I have bought 2, good buy, I have been patiently wait for a few weeks to restock for the dustbin that I like.

- Toner. My mom bought it and she like it. I've checked the ingredients, it is not bad and alcohol free. (need to check ingredients because it is too cheap tongue.gif )

- Washing machine cleaning powder. Very good.

- Soap holder. Forgot it's actual name, it's not bad. Worth the money.

- Sunglasses for people who is wearing glasses. I'm not the buyer, but I think it is very good after I try it.

- Dispenser. Not bad, but need to wait.

- Tie. Not bad, buy for fun.

- Aluminum card holder. Not bad.

- Sauce/Oil bottle. Not bad.

Bad buys:
- Cockroach poison. I think no use one.

- Microfiber clothes. Actually it is not bad, just that I don't like it. At the end I go buy a rm10 for 4 microfiber clothes from Tesco, which I think is better.

- Cap. Buy for fun, but regretted after use a few times.

- Tongs. It's actually not bad, but I don't like it.

- Wet tissue. No problem with it, but I just don't like it.

- Measurement tape. Not bad, but I prefer the one I buy from Ace Hardware. So no hard feeling daiso tongue.gif

- Water bottle. Trust me, DAISO one cannot be use. You'd better buy from Jusco rm30 per bottle. Water bottle are not easy to made one, so you need to buy good quality stuff.

- Sticky wall hooker. Better buy 'commands' brand from Ace Hardware.

- Reuseable shopping bag. Meh.

Each Daiso actually put different stocks, so in order to buy the stuffs that you really like, sometimes you need to visit 3 - 4 Daiso shops and patiently wait for re-stock.

why, i think the ziplock (freezer bags) are a good buy. Giant sells them for around rm8 or rm9 (for the same x of bags in box). I have bought the largest freezer bags from Daiso twice so far.

i am actually listing down shit to buy after reading your posts.

Now I discovered that I need cat repellent, ear plugs, sleep masks, a coin box, house slippers, some storage cases/containers.

But i'll probably source some of them from IKEA or MUJI because their stores look cooler and the items don't look like they are meant for a welfare home.

i bud the small ziplocks mini ones to keep small things, so for rm5 of course not as worth as buying big zip locks.

hows the quality compare to glade etc?

QUOTE(ascend @ Apr 8 2014, 09:46 PM)
why, i think the ziplock (freezer bags) are a good buy. Giant sells them for around rm8 or rm9 (for the same x of bags in box). I have bought the largest  freezer bags from Daiso twice so far.

I also like to find stuffs in IKEA and MUJI. But I will not put aside DAISO.

Each stores has their pro and con. So sometimes you might find something better or same quality in DAISO with cheaper price.

DAISO got good quality stuffs, but very fast finish stock one.

So need patience to wait and search.

They are basically like a RM5 lottery, the stuff u wanna find is all depends on luck.

For people who is lazy to play treasure hunt, daiso is not for you.

I do enjoy treasure hunts.

However, when shopping for essentials I priorities quality (regardless of whether it's perceived or true quality), convenience and, if possible, instant gratification.
I do not mind paying for these things.

If have to wait wait all, i wouldn't wait for rm5 thing lo, lol. Only wait for something that's worth it.

wasn't the 1st daiso open in 2008 in puchong or something?

but i bought the wii accessories in 2011, at curve outlet.

yeah, the bad part about daiso is that it's a treasure hunt, not all items available at all daisos.

i was searching for those psp cables since it's cheaper than game shops, but so far only the curve outlet seems to restock it consistently...

For me rm5 cannot complain the size, go outside at least rm15-20.

Want bigger size can go Daiso The Curve, they sell more than rm5 stuffs, medium size acrylic case is rm15.

If want even bigger try your luck in the other Japanese shop on top floor ikana power center near Toysrus at corner yellow shop forgot the name, last time they used to carry many larger sized acrylic case can fit 1:18 cars, but price is rm5x, they have other sizes too some rm15 some very expensive depends on size, some of their items is like 10cent cheaper than Daiso, a good alternative if you can't find the stuffs in Daiso. But seems business not so good they never restocked anymore...

DIY really for auntie & uncle visit one. Their stuff more on hardware toolings, their non hardware stuffs looks cheap like anytime can kena lead poison one. i compare same item Daiso & DIY Daiso looks better at least you need to check the writings to tell is made in China or not. DIY see already know made in China.

But some things DIY are much cheaper like batteries & glue stick.

Midvalley outlet is one of the smallest, they stock little stuffs, Avenue K doesn't look too big, at most as big as the one in 1U (but 1U got 2 outlets).

Best is go Puchong IOI, The Curve, Sungei Wang, Paradigm mall or Bukit Indah AEON outlet.

Personally I find Puchong IOI has most of the stuffs i'm looking for and is not as cramped or crowded as the other branches.

Paradigm mall i notice alot of OL amois go there around 6-6.30pm.

*
crowded wan is better cos

1. can rub against amoi

2. can see a lot of downbaju

bought a Daiso lint remover n 2 refills last week.

the sticky paper that came with the remover itself is good. very easy to remove.

but the refills r a prob. the paper is really hard to remove. i usually end up having to use my finger nail to slowly peel the paper off. whole hand end up sticky.

the refills r in a white n green plastic packaging. there is a "For Pets" indication on the packaging n paper itself.

wasn't the 1st daiso open in 2008 in puchong or something?

but i bought the wii accessories in 2011, at curve outlet.

yeah, the bad part about daiso is that it's a treasure hunt, not all items available at all daisos.

i was searching for those psp cables since it's cheaper than game shops, but so far only the curve outlet seems to restock it consistently...

U are right. The first RM5 store to open here was 100 Yen store.

But they did not do well because they are out of shopping centres. No crowd and only through word of mouth only. Next to come was Hinode. This one was at shopping centres. But their stuff is basically home deco stuff. The problem with Hinode is, the same time there is Living Cabin which sells almost the same stuff. The last to come is Daiso. Why are they successful? Because they have household items. Target customer is those auntie who does not bat an eyelid spending RM50 for 10 various household items. Value for money! Do you know who is their main competitor? Mr DIY. Surprised? They have almost the same stuff. But Mr DIY never hide the fact the stuff are from China compared to japanese font Daiso packaging even if there is a Made in China printed on it.

The latest fella to come in premium household goods is Muji. While some of their stuff is good quality, it seems does not justify that quality next to Daiso or others. Really rich fag place. rolleyes.gif

i been on a quest to find the perfect soap dish recently. found one in Daiso n it was made in Japan while d rest were made in China. its green in colour with the word Comfort stuck on the cover.

when i got home i realized it sucked. the cover doesn't fit properly on the dish so it opens very easily. banyak scratches on the cover too. oh well just use only lo.

earlier i popped by Giant to get a loaf of bread. i decided to have a look at the soap dishes available. saw a few types priced around RM 2. felt solid in my hands. so i bought one.

opened the plastic wrap n wow the quality so much better than Daiso made in japan one. the cover actually closes firmly n the rectangular shape means the soap doesn't slide around too much. all for RM2.

100yen shops opened in Shopping Malls, I remember seeing a few in shopping malls, but their stuffs are mainly small items, quality of the items is better than DIY but not as good as Daiso. Even though there's a 100yen shop nearby, i never went in before so not sure quality change or not.

There's another 2 shops like 100yen i forgot the name but felt more like local brand.

DIY mainly imports stuffs made for Chinese market, while Daiso outsource may products to China company to sell in Japan, so of course they design their packaging to be in Japanese. But if you look properly some items are made in Japan/Korea/Vietnam etc.

After Daiso there's Tokutokuya, another 100yen like shop that sells sub 100yen and over 100yen stuffs. Business not so good due to their location and only few branches, they aren't as big as AEON. Notice any new AEON will have Daiso there coz they can afford to.

Muji is super expensive i cannot afford.

Feel that the Mines Daiso was bigger and have more products, among these few.

This one any shop in KL/PJ has stock? Tried 1U but nothing to be found.

Also looking for the aircon filter made in vietnam, tried 1U both sides also cannot find.

Sometimes shopping in Daisho is like treasure hunt, the thing is there just you don't have 1 hour to spend on finding it.

Any folks find the outlet in Curve, Sungei Wang & Puchong easier to browse?

I find the Curve & Sungei Wang easy to navigate coz their stuff are all lined up parellel to each other easy to browse everything. i rather the shop be long than wide. like 1U, Bukit Indah go in pening. have to make a few rounds to cover the whole area, and still miss the thing.

If any of u r users of the Schick Exacta 2 disposable razors (blue coloured ones without lubrication strip), drop by Daiso to stock up. U can get a pack of 5 for RM5. other places (pharmacies) usually sell a 5 pack for RM6.90.

I have bought a pack b4 and they r the exact same thing as the ones available at pharmacies or supermarkets. the only difference is the packaging has mostly Japanese words.

There is also another model of Schick disposable razors on sale at Daiso. it comes in a pack of 7 n cost RM5. but this model I dun like so much as the razor head is a bit big n doesn't have a cleaning button.

bud rm35 worth of stuff today.

seems the Curve outlet has the most stuff available.

got the 4AA mobile charger kit, a bathing sponge for men (made in japan), a steel food sardine container with rubber cover (made in japan), a cream mushroom pasta sauce for 2, a canned fish, a 25kg hand muscle developer & a bag of japanese square shaped sugar candy.

anyone know where can get the infamous cocoon face eraser?

i also found another 2 types of mobile charger (4AA & 2AA) in Tokutokuya IPC 2nd Floor. they are slimmer than the ones in Daiso also rm4.90.

how much do you need to open 1? seems anywhere you go Daiso's always got many customers despite opened so many years.

if open near office areas confirm business very good.

Well, not really. Most of Daiso that is in Jusco, is under Jusco.
But some branches for example, Daiso in One Utama is under a different company which I used to work with and the boss have quite a few branches under him.

Those Daiso with black sign like the one in IOI mall in under a different company. smile.gif

As for the mask, yep, I used it already but not very effective (on me at least). But people always buy that mask. 1 time a customer bought 40pcs!

Hmmm, I never got the chance to ask my boss because he is not really a talkative guy.
But yes, the business is good. Even in the mall that deemed "not as busy", the sales are at least 3k on weekdays and on weekends 8k is not a problem. Festive season, sales can shoot up to 15k.

The OU branch one, the highest sale was 25k. The store is super tight but people still come.

I was a cashier and 1 time, a couple bought those reusable foldable bag,69 units shocking.gif

My colleague told me she had a customer, bought 1k worth of make up items. ohmy.gif

Oh ya, almost forgot.

For, iPhone users, if your usb cable always break, better buy from Daiso. Cost rm5 and can held up quite well (customers feedback) but better buy more than 1 cuz not all branch restock regularly.

But Daiso in Sunway got loadssssssssss the last time I went there.

My colleague told me she had a customer, bought 1k worth of make up items.  ohmy.gif

A funny story (to me at least).
5 Arab guys came in the shop. they asked me about the prices.
So I told them those without price stickers are rm5 each and those with stickers are high value items which cost rm10 and above.

But none of them believed me but they go on with their shopping.

then 1 of them found some knives that looks pretty expensive so he came back to the cashier counter and asked how much it is.
I tell him again it is rm5.

Then, every few minutes, 1 of them will come and ask the items prices.
Since I am quite immune to this questions, not really mind them asking multiple times. hehehe.

Sell internet not so easy nowadays for low priced items.

Sell local, big cities already have Daisos, only smaller town don't have but they have Mr. DIY & other shops like 100 yen.

Sell international, cannot compete with China & Hong Kong sellers since Malaysia post rate so expensive China can sell $5 free post you sell $2 but minimum postage is already $15 to USA. how to compete?

Another fact, NOT ALL products in Daiso are made in Japan, got loads made in China, Vietnam and some in Malaysia.
Always check the label if you only want those made in Japan smile.gif

While I was working, the only ceramic knives in stock and regularly stocked are the small ones, for peeling fruit.

But make sure you check them in front of the cashier for scratches or crack cuz u can exchange right then n there.
Cannot exchange or refund after u buy.

Just FYI, if you ever need more, u can order them 100pcs or more. But must wait for 1 - 2 months la for shipping. smile.gif

______________________________________________________________________________________

FYI;

If you guys ever buy stuffs in Daiso and you guys want to exchange or refund,
make sure u refer the exchange/refund policy on the back of the receipt or as displayed on the cashier counter.

Most places can exchange in 3 days time but must bring the product, packaging & receipt.
Yes, it is a hassle but it is important to do so because the staffs need to make a report for the manager.

Always use both sides. i always put a clean dry piece as base then another dry or wet sheet to mop. the thing is after using both sides, you still have like half sheet unused (area where you clip on the mop) abit waste... so take out use hand to wipe...

Do you have to order the stuffs based on what Daiso wants, or you order from their catalogs, coz i know some items really considered overpriced for rm5 not many people will want to buy, made in China somemore, if made in Japan maybe more people will buy, for example normal eraser, paper clip, stapler refills those outside sell rm2-3 only.

BTW is 1 million enough to open 1 outlet, coz i know if open in kampung place sure sell like hot pancakes. I wonder how much they make for each rm5 item sold?

From catalogs, usually those items are in stock at warehouse already. 1 know there r 3 main warehouses, remember 2 oni: china, vietnam.
Plus the stuffs u order depends on what sold out fast in your store. That's y d boss let the captain & supervisor order for their respective stores.
but some times d boss order whatever he wants to even if d item not selling well. doh.gif

Now sure la 1 mil can open 1 or not. maybe can. maybe some1 on lowyat can share more about opening a store in a mall or something.
I dun have d knowledge on opening a shop. YET biggrin.gif

Ever heard off sakuma drops? Its a fruit drop candy... Featured in the anime movie " graveyard of the fireflies".... Delicious! The best fruit drop candy I've ever tasted.... They stopped  selling it at daiso since past few months back... Now some other Japanese shop start selling it... Bye2 rm5... Hello rm6.50....
*
Sakuma Drops (サクマ式ドロップス Sakuma-shiki Doroppusu?) are a hard candy from Japan. They are flavored with real fruit juice and are made by Sakuma Candy Co. based in Ikebukuro, Tokyo. The candies are not as popular as they were in the past, but they are an easily recognizable icon in Japan as they have been available since the Meiji period. The candies are sold in 4-by-3.5 inch tin cans with a tin pull cap. Sakuma tins are collectible items, as the design frequently changes.

Sakuma drops - Grave of the Fireflies edition, showing the front and back design. Note the label as written horizontally from right to left.
Sakuma Drops are best known in the west from their appearance in the 1988 anime film Grave of the Fireflies (火垂るの墓 Hotaru no Haka?), as it played a prominent motif in the film. Commemorative tins resembling the one depicted in the film and featuring an image of Setsuko has been released several times over the years.

The stuff I bought last time I went to Daiso in Paragon Mall, Penang biggrin.gif

This wet flooring wipe is THE BEST I've ever tried.
The wipe is very thick compared to the pink& light blue packaging!

This get the job done but rust easily.  ohmy.gif

These I found while browsing Lazada.
Pink one is RM33 and the Foldable one is RM20

Both are sold in Daiso for RM5 each.  blink.gif

shoe insole go Jusco buy Ambros better, few ringgit more, if you looking for some support, Daiso ones usually just to absorb sweat, cushion quite thin.

QUOTE(Percival II @ Sep 20 2014, 10:07 AM)

I bought a can yesterday. Actually kind of disappointing. When i open it looks nice and with sugar frosting. Reminds me of Tdrops. Which is fine and they have cute fruit shapes.

user posted image

But after tasting it.... It taste like T-Drops... or even those slightly better fruit candies like Nimm 2 candy. But Nimm 2 better tasting.

user posted image

Kind of disappointing for RM5 bucks. U try Nimm2 the outer shell is far superior than this. And the jelly soft core is a bonus.

Nimm2 is not coated with sugar frosting. The candy is more clear in color and the orange taste is a little sharper than T-Drops or Sakuma. I stopped eating them about 2 years ago. Last time think they can still be found at the candy section in most supermarkets. Cost about RM2 and the last i bought them was RM2.40 each.

I never see the Made in Japan with net one, the only Made In Japan sponge i saw is the one with Blue on the rough side, lathering on the mid and soft white brown "excitement" on the other side. Only saw it in Puchong IOI mall. But only tahan 3 months the rough side will start to come off.

Got few types, Thirsty Hippo bucket type, Refillable pellet types, Silicone bag type (turns wet), and the less effective but long lasting bag type you find in snack bottles (carbon/silicon), and also some for shoes with fragrance/odour removal. The bag type usually come in stripes but you can cut them apart.

Can't refill but has bigger capacity option, up to 800ml, refillable ones are much smaller, i haven't tried it yet, not sure any difference from non-refillable ones. What i see is refillable might has lower water absorption capacity because the pellets will mix up with the water to become jelly like substance as they all in the same plastic pack, while non-refillable the water will pass down to the water compartment so the pellets above can continue absorb water.

Used to have, but now most outlet i don't see anymore, this one is smaller but can clamp the base, the ones available are bigger but bottom doesn't clamp, however as it's clamp dust can go in from the hole.

Maybe The Curve & Sungei Wang got coz they usually got more variety.

Am tickled pink to see the existence of a Daiso fan club!

Let's see... so far, I bought coffee filter paper there (good quality and affordable price), notebook with zippered closure (great for journalists!), laundry net, mason jars (for fruit juices), lunch bag (with insulator), tote bag, small curtains, cute milk heating pan, etc. I really love the place! thumbup.gif

I love Daiso. Even when I have nothing to buy I'd walk in and browse (and usually will not leave empty handed).

I buy a lot of things from Daiso but some of my favourite buys are the fluffy socks, gloves, makeup sponge cleaner (so much cheaper than those you buy from Sephora or other cosmetic brands), food items (wakame is good! curry sauce is cheaper than AEON, senbei also cheaper), micro USB cable, pouches, and the floor cleaner wipes.

But yeah, certain things better off buy from Mr DIY. Can get at half the price sometimes.

which item? Yogurt? Soba Sos?

Yogurt packet (flat rectangular pack got strawberry or peach) I know Bukit Indah, The Curve got, sometimes Midvalley & Puchong IOI also got, but now i notice some outlet don't carry any food products except candies like K-Avenue. Sungei Wang should also have.

Soba Bottle Sos, Puchong IOI mall got, pretty much those outlets that carry more food products will have especially soba noodles etc.

The dehumidifier i notice the 800ml transparent box with Blue sticker label & big big Japanese words is the most efficient, tried many different model that box can gather the fullest amount of water, while the rest not that much.

Those pellet bag refillables also can gather alot of water to my suprise.

the alcohol is to remove the oil & grease on your glass/monitor, if not why bother use it?

minimal lint doesn't mean it won't scratch, if you don't want scratch was it with mild detergent is best & just use clean cloth to dip it dry & not wipe it.

i didnt have time to go thru 20 pages....
Just wanna say i was in Japan for 6 years...

I was a student during those years...
So, i frequent Daiso a lot.

When Daiso first opened in Malaysia, i frequent them a lot.
but nowadays, it can be too expensive. Some items are worth cheaper than RM5.

Back in Japan, Daiso is selling every item at 100 yen.
To me, living there, 100 yen is like 100 sen, or RM1.00
For example, a mineral water is around 150 yen, in Malaysia same mineral water is RM1.50.

So, every item in Daiso or any other 100 yen shop (there are many more beside Daiso) is like RM1 to me.

In Malaysia, now RM5, plus GST sumore.
even if you change the currency rate, its RM3.10 now.
So RM5 plus GST can be too expensive.

Anyways, there are some items that only people living in Japan understands, and i can only find it in Daiso.
Of course, only with Daiso quality (RM1 quality).

So still need to find Daiso.

not all but some other 100yen outlets offer better quality stuff, even though made in china.

daiso has own factory, they make their own stuff.

while some other 100yen retailers in Japan get their stuff from independant factories (in Japan, China, etc).

im not bashing Daiso leer, i also a fan especially their home amenities stuff. but if in Japan, Daiso will be my last choice to enter.

Meh, only bother entering shops like Daiso for hard to find imported snacks and other crap.

If you are looking for affordable and quality goods like electronics and gadgets better just go to places like Pudu or LYP. Likewise if you want the best bang for bucks for anything then better do your own research first, that's the general rule for a smart shopper.

Interface cables would depend on the quality, if you expecting anything decent from lightining and those micro-B USB connectors then prepare to spend something along the line of 10-20 bucks more or less.

There are tons of cheap interface cables on the market but they can be a hit or miss, they either have questionable built quality or does not fulfill the standard specifications in terms of providing power output, you simply get what you paid for. I have once tested a cheap below RM10 USB3.0 extension cable and it obviously failed to provide sufficient to power 2.5" external drives and even certain USB flash drives. doh.gif

cables are just cables, the only problem that can occur would be their QC, and if they use thinner wires, but it's just USB power, at most 1-2A.

it's like saying if i want superior audio i have to use rm1k Gold plated cables.

For interface cables this is not the case.

http://lifehacker.com/cables-can-significa...of-y-1532784722

I have personally been using FireWire, USB and Lightning cables ever since USB 1.1 and for someone who constantly rely on these connectors to interface and power various devices it's rather easy to tell the quality and reliability from one. Not all these cables are created nor perform equally.

most people buy them as extras for mainly charging power. since most people already have the original cables. anyway those cheap cables are just normal cables like USB not USB 3.0, serves their purpose, and if it's faulty just get another 1 only cost rm10, people have discussed about the cables bought there.

and i don't know how good the quality of those so called rm20 cables, since cheapest original cable are more expensive than rm20.

It's something to think about. Most mainstream users will of course have little knowledge about the make of the interface cables they bought, regardless where they bought it from thinking all cables are the same and created equal.

If you are looking for very reasonably priced cables with great quality then I highly recommend looking out for Remax. You can easily get them from local sellers over here. They are priced around RM10+ depending on the type and length, I found them way better than those generic or aftermarket cables.

Anyone seen videos of Daiso in Japan. My god, if I go Japan, I think I bring back one luggage full of Daiso items. They have so many things that we don't see here. Even Daiso Singapore has better varieties compared to here.

You can watch in YouTube for videos of Daiso Japan. As for Daiso Singapore, I was there in December. Their Christmas decoration selections are like 10x more than here. Saw a lot of good nice decors that they don't have in Daiso Malaysia.

I just went to Daiso Taiwan. Since it's near the metro station so it's not a big store. So far the items quite identical to MY and SG.

I actually wanted to buy an extendable rack that can place over the sink t create extra cooking space. Didn't sell in Taiwan either.

I know Japan got sell, they also sell dried tomato for 100 yen. Tasty.
