Bro, if i install ur app i.e. HyppTV_APK_Installer.zip from the recovery menu, then i should be able to install any apps from a USB drive.. is that right? i do NOT even need to do the steps described in the very first page of this thread?

And if i want to have Apptoide or Google Play Store, i will need to install them from the USB drive too?

If all apps will be installed via the HyppTV app, then what use would there be to install Apptiode or Google Play Store on the STB since u wont be installing anything through them anyway.. is this correct? (sorry i never used Apptoide but if it's anything like Play Store u cant download app from inside it but can only install?)

Just want to make sure i really understand everything correctly before messing about my STB  tongue.gif

P/S: Any luck with Ustream, Livestream and TuneRadio apps?
*
All 3 app u mentioned are able to installed successfully!

1) UStream installed and launched with no problem, can play live video.
2) LiveStream installed and launched with no problem, but I do not have account to login so not sure can play the live video or not.
3) TuneIn Radio installed ok but when launched it bomb!

Check out screenshots below, sorry for my poor photo shooting skill lah!

I got this too, thus I flash the backup recovery file to go back to factory default and then just install pure simple APK. I feel it is simpler and cleaner.

Of course you can! Just go to the Settings app come with HyppTV, then select Manage Application, select the app you want to uninstall there.

First, try see when go into recovery mode, can you still see the Restore from backup (or something like that) in the last line. If you see that, try to flash that first. Else try the method below.

You may need stock firmware to restore back. I saw a post of stock firmware in this thread, and it pointed to http://goo.gl/SKG9x6. It was a 10 month old link, so I am not very sure will it work for the version we are using now. But since your box already cant boot, no harm trying.

Download http://goo.gl/SKG9x6 and copy to your USB, go to recovery mode, the select this zip to flash. Good luck, bro!!! icon_rolleyes.gif

Ok, finally i managed to update my STB with your great installer app.. all went well.. then i downloaded aptoide and youtube apk on my pc, transferred to USB drive then installed on STB using your app.. installation went well too..

But the youtube app when run keeps asking me to update to latest version but when i clicked update nothing happened.. i'm thinking maybe it's not the correct version for my STB and maybe i should have installed youtube from Aptoide instead..

Now i'm downlading FB from Aptoide but the downloading is extremely slow for a 5Mbps line... is this normal?

I also didn't able to run youtube successfully. Maybe try download via aptoide direct and install.

You can download a speedtest app to see if your STB has fully utilize the 5MB line.

Actually the STB has a FB app inside already, I think under Interactive menu, real your STB manual.

I am aware about the pre-installed FB app, i just wanted to test the Aptoide installer smile.gif

If i run the speed test app and it shows that my STB is NOT using the full bandwidth, is there anything i can do? any setting i need to tweak? icon_question.gif

If i installed youtube using your installer, would i be able to uninstall it from Settings? i went to Manage Apps menu in Settings but the Uninstall button is grayed out..

What actually does the 'Install update from backup' menu on the Recovery screen do? will it simply revert the installed apps back to the default set? or will it also wipe out all Hypptv settings configured by the Unifi installer?

If i re-do the 10 steps to update your HyppTV_APK_Installer.zip, will it simply install your app on the STB without touching other apps? or will it revert the apps to the default set plus your apk installer?

Sorry i still don't quite understand how the update mechanism on STB work... unsure.gif

Install update from backup will keep the app you installed in user space, which means not system app. I think you install youtube via the recovery flash method right? If that is the case it will installed in system space and you will not be able to uninstall via Settings. Only app install in user space (via my app or via aptiode etc) can be uninstalled. You can try install from backup which will clean up the system app you installed via recovery method. Then u need to install my app to enable APK install into user space. Then you can freely install any app which later u can choose to uninstall freely too.

Actually i did install youtube via your installer.. then it should be in user space, right? and should be uninstallable?

What about all the settings on the STB? will they get wiped too if i do 'update from backup'?
