Oh its like the app downloads an apk then installs it. Couldn't work.
Plus i find my internal sd not showing up in the "My Media" app. Aptoide couln't detect my internal storage also. So it can't install any apps.

This might be your internal storage is corrupted. You can try format your internal storage from recovery screen, but I am not sure will this break your box. You could still copy the APK you want to install into USD and then install from there using my app.

I just got my HyppTV 3 days ago and was shock that it can't install APK file (at least not with the help of this thread)!

I follow the creator of this thread, akifrabbani, to get around, rooted my box and able to install APK as user app (install at /data). Note that most app failed to work if you install them as system app.

However, I find it troublesome to always need to key in Linux command just to install an APK. Thus I created a small app - HyppAPK to install APK as user app.

Steps:
0) MAKE SURE YOUR POWER SUPPLY IS ON FOR THE WHOLE PROCESS OR ELSE WILL SPOIL YOUR TV BOX
1) Copy the attached HyppTV-APK-Installer.zip [attachmentid=4324643] to your USB drive.
2) Plug USB drive into your HyppTV box.
3) Power off your HyppTV box by plug out power cable.
4) Press your remote control RED power ON button and hold it till step 6.
5) Plug in power cable into your HyppTV Box and press the power button behind the box.
6) When you see white HyppTV welcome screem, you can release remote control RED power ON button.
7) You will see a black screen with a Android robot.
8) Use remote control UP/DOWN to navigate to "Apply update from external storage" and press OK button.
9) Choose HyppTV-APK-Installer.zip and press OK.
10) Wait for system to reboot and when start just run HyppAPK.

This little app will try to enable "Unknown source" apk installation, if set successful, it will fire up a simple file explorer for you to install APK. This app MUST be install as a system app for it to work (follow the 10 step above). As far as I know, no root is require.

Thanks akifrabbani for doing a great job to start all this! Without him, I will be so disappointed with HyppTV Box which cannot install APK!

My step to make my STB worked to install android apk.

1. Flashed HyppTV_APK_Installer.zip gived by @lifeisjustgreat in recovery.

2. Next just find apk file for applications that I want and  just installed using thats app.

No need another step. No need to flash gapps, exploit and so on. So easy!.. Im also flashed aptoide zip file in recovery to replace play store that not work anymore. Im suggest dont install the gapps file. Superuser also no need. Im already tried. Install ShareIt to make easy transfer any file from your phone to your stb. Especially your apk file if you downloaded from your phone. Your phone need to install that app too to make it works

i see Netflix!    does it work well with hypptv?

No lah.. Xboleh. Just install to try. Can put dns in box,  can open netflix and log in but error pop up need to set date and time. And furthermore if you put in dns ip, your iptv cannot open. Just loading image

anyone can share apps apk that compatible with this stb...tq.

aiyoo.... so in dilemma... just got my unifi and hypptv installed early this month.. to flash or not to flash?

thinking of going the HyppTV_APK_Installer.zip way... has anyone failed using this method?

If u need 3rd party app u need to flash. I flashed my box the 2nd day after I got it! As long as you can make sure your power is not cut off during flashing process u are almost 100% safe.

I will test out the app u mentioned when I got time and let u know if they work or not.

Bro, if i install ur app i.e. HyppTV_APK_Installer.zip from the recovery menu, then i should be able to install any apps from a USB drive.. is that right? i do NOT even need to do the steps described in the very first page of this thread?

And if i want to have Apptoide or Google Play Store, i will need to install them from the USB drive too?

If all apps will be installed via the HyppTV app, then what use would there be to install Apptiode or Google Play Store on the STB since u wont be installing anything through them anyway.. is this correct? (sorry i never used Apptoide but if it's anything like Play Store u cant download app from inside it but can only install?)

Just want to make sure i really understand everything correctly before messing about my STB 

P/S: Any luck with Ustream, Livestream and TuneRadio apps?
