Heheh... I'll be starting a breeding program for my imbellis by the end of this month... The male still like that lah... Fins clamped, but eats like a pig... Every thing get cleaned off... The female is doing very well... I think it is more of a behavioral problem than parasites... Cause when i'm not there (peep from door there), wah, so darn active... Once go in... Hide in a corner... Hahah... Will try to give him a styrofoam cup to hide under.... See see if got any changes....

Jit: No la, I don't keep him in an aircon room. I changed his water on Thursday night and overnight, it hujan. So maybe the corner where I put him (near the door) got wind blowing in and got cold...

I changed his water, put in some ketapang leaves and took a cloth and covered the tank except for the side against the wall. He's alright now but there is a pin-sized hole on his bottom fin (sorry, can't remember the terms) and his anal fin looks a bit frayed - suspect it's because he was stressed out and digging around in the silk plants.

Have him on ketapang, black water & Melafix together with the usual stuff plus the cloth still covering half of his tank.

I am new here and I love Bettas, I used to own 4 CT and they died one after another of sudden death I am not sure what killed them....coz one night they were fine...flaring and eating..and the next morning they were floating and very dead...

Anyway, I tried breeding them and I successfully got a batch of about 50 fries (my first attempt), problem was I fed them Liquifry no.1 for the first 2 weeks and I later moved on to Daphnias.....I seperated the bigger ones from the communal tank at 2 months and the problem I had then was that they refused to grow....at the 6 month mark, they were still colorless and not showing much finnage and they remained like that until they all started dying as well...ever since then...I stopped keeping them as it was heart breaking. But of late...I have made up my mind again to start all over. Any advice as to where I can buy some fish (I used to get mine from Mont Kiara flea market)? The ones I see in the pet shops are pathetic...*sigh* I miss my mustard gas CT...he was so beautiful...

hey, i used to owned 30+ beta( or fighting fish)..... kept it solely for fight...hehehehe but nvr once took them for battle...... i still remember those days...when i was 12 years old.....hehehhehee.... during my time it was so difficult to find a female beta...but nowadays can easier get it....

Looks like your fry suffered from malnutrition and old age.
You need a bigger space for them. After you jar them out, you have to start feeding them with bloodworms or tubifex worms. U cannot keep feeding daphnia. Otherwise they will suffer from malnutrition (1 type of food cannot have all the proper nutrition).
As for starting again, you will not be able to find CT females in the petshops. ALL you ever get are shortfin plakat fighter females. spawn those and have a headache with crappy fins and poor colouration.

My advise is to get a nice pair from some trustworthy breeder and start from there. Also, the home breeders usually don't have many colours but their quality is definitely better than petshops. I can introduce you a friend who keeps CTs.
Yewlin also has a few but they are going for the competition .

Michael: I think those really are irids, not gold scales. I just browsed Aquabid. If got BTF HMPK red please let me know hehe. Will cross it to sala btf. weee!

Mable: If your fish keep dying, may I suggest you buy your plakats from another pet shop? Change the place you keep him in. and don't change water so often.

Nezumi and fren (OMG I dun remember your name): I hope the bettas are still alive. If you guys have been feeding them consistently, they should be bigger by now.


jaspery: got! there will be a charity fair in Penang on the weekend after aquafair. Check it out and ask around. Some indonesian breeders will send their Crown Tails there after the Aquafair.

Hi Jit, I assume u mean me la, when u say nezumi n fren.. lol... the betta is doing well and a little bigger. Very greedy la that fish, everytime he sees me he will be begging for food, but I dont feed him as much as my old CT coz this plakat is so much smaller in size, lol... I tried to take pics, but very hard to take nice pics of little speedy fish !

sifuu Jit, sorry to ask, when is the aqua fair? it such a good news for me but last sunday i bought 2 female bettas (dont kno wat breed, later wil post pic here if possible), n yesterday i noticed they hv a rot fins, so i put them in separate tank, change water, put the "red" n "yellow" medic (soli dont know the name), n some salt, n now one is recovering i think, but another couldnt make it, 2day when i came back i realized it was gone so heart breaking now n i checked the guppies that i bought from the same shop also have same problem, n now my guppies only left one female n my molly the fin all stoodup, so scary mayb this sunday wil go n find new fish, but definitely not going back to that shop again

Jaswwp: Good to hear! Sorry mable but I cannot help but be relieved that the fish I sold is still healthy hehe.

Mable: Sigh.. i think there is only 1 thing left to do. Prophylactic treatment. When take a fish back home, put him in water that has already been added with yellow powder... change 50% water everyday and add some yellow powder. Keep this up for 1 week then use ktp in his water. You'll have 2 days to admire him everytime you change water. On the third to 7th day the water will be too dark, hehe. Don't buy pet shop plakat unless u are getting them to fight then throw. If you knew how they "processed" the fish, you'd be scared. We'rea talking about hundreds of thousands of fish kept in really bad conditions. No such thing as quarantine and all that crap.

Michael: Cannot see ler. But 1 thing is for sure. They are cambo based so I think it is irids. The cambo body tends to make the irids look less green. Finnage of the first fish looks good with outcurling and all that. Looks like both are longfinned!! Weeee!
Swap fish with yewlin and kelvin for outcrossing man.

jaspery: hmmm... dunno when is the penang charity fair wor, seriously you need to ask around. Should be around 25th November. Those formations sound like columnaris to me. You might not wanna go back to that shop again. and you should use some medication and salt to soak your tanks first yah. How is taro's fish doing? hehe.

currently havent expand the barrack yet just re-arrange the barrack to better look only so that i can tipu ppl i got alot of fish ...currently i got only fews batch.....hope he can grow faster for the comp loh....color ah..i got sala, gold, rb bf, another i dunno wht color lah...look's like lavendar bf...

i only will bring 15pcs the most lousy to enter comp....mostly will be sala , rb bf, black , white and red bf...if lucky will enter gold as well...
