QUOTE(yewlin @ Jul 25 2006, 12:37 PM) hehe. it's not the fish i'm worried about. it's the POSLAJU people i'm worried about ie crashing my little HMPK. no way man. those fish are damn hardy. if ever they die, it's probably they got crushed haha. oh you work TTDI - like that yewlin can poslaju to me i can pass to you during lunch time. haha. anyway - you should try having betta in bigger tanks. they look even nicer. i'm planning to put mine in 3ft tank this time. |

QUOTE(Jitticus @ Jul 25 2006, 04:00 PM) Chance of them arriving dead are high. What's more you have to pay hidden costs. Most are charged in USD. You have to pay between 18 to 25 USD for shipping depending on where they come from. If you pay using Paypal, they charge you 3.5% extra. If you pay using Western Union, a charge of USD 15 per USD 100 dollars is charged. Using bank to bank transfer, our local bank charges RM10 and when it arrives at singapore, their bank charges SGD20. yup that's the thing. if buying just to keep for decoration (like me) then really not worth it. if you buy - you will usually be buying GOOD STUFF and have a breeding plan for the purchase. |

QUOTE(jaswwp @ Jul 25 2006, 11:26 PM) Haha.. main saje la, I failed in keeping guppy, because of my filter got problems, even though change the water 2 times a day they still died in the end, sigh.... so decide to try out a betta. your guppy deaths could be due to many reasons - and changing water 2 times a day could actually be worse instead of being helpful.Just now went Pets Wonderland, bought the Hikari Betta Bio Gold for my betta, it seems to like it very much. I wanted to get the water conditioner too, but can't find those posted here on the forum, only saw one black water product by the Ocean something brand, rm 13. again that depends on # of guppies vs tank size vs filteration system vs # of times fed per day vs amount fed per feeding. btw food from Hikari's good. |

QUOTE(meiteoh @ Jul 27 2006, 11:08 AM) Goldfries: A lot of the CTs I saw at places like the petstore at 1-U and Family Pet Center are not very nice. They are either too fat or inactive or dead and their rays are in really in 1) bad shape, or 2) weird looking. yup. exactly what i saw.I got Le Bleu at Irene Aquarium near my house and at that time had to choose between him and a red CT. Yesterday when I went, they had some pretty good ones (located near the entrance of the store - the ones near the goldfish/fishes are the cheapo ones) but satu dah mati. Bad sign lor...for me at least. color - NO finnage - NO body - NO attitude - a bit.... Pet Safari and Pet Family not so bad la the way they keep betta. at least they're properly contained. i saw Pet Wonderland MV - damn they put in plastic bags like taufufah la. and i'm surprised Irene actually carry such nice one like your Le Bleuu. my criteria for choosing a betta is finnage and color. no proper body shape, flare already also don't look nice. EDITED : btw - i stilll prefer to have PK / HMPK over HM / CT due to the requirements for maintenance. This post has been edited by goldfries: Jul 27 2006, 11:14 AM |

heh. the CT's rays are the one that make them look fierce.
HMs / Veiltails and such - aiyah they look like someone with overflowing gown. HMs not flaring, their tail practially pull them down. yeah i'm not expecting much from Irene. i've not been there for quite some time now. anyway here's my un-updated fish site. http://aquaria.briancyc.com/index.php?id=g...ta&page=1&pic=8 |

QUOTE(meiteoh @ Jul 27 2006, 02:37 PM) Bettas are like that. They'll eat until they explode. (Don't even try to imagine it la.) Some people say that their stomach is as big as their eye. >_< in fact, FISH (in general) are like that. in the wild, they will eat what they can (practically non-stop) cos they don't know when's the next meal coming and yet they can go through quite some period without food. another reason for not feeding betta too often would be to reduce 'damage' to water quality. |

QUOTE(meiteoh @ Jul 28 2006, 10:26 AM) Ohyeah...forgot to tell you. Don't change water too often otherwise you might just create more stress for your fish (the whole "baru adjust to water and then she change the water" thing). which is why i mentioned.......Every four to three days if your tank is small (like it holds only 2 litres of water). Mine holds four litres and I change water once a week. It also depends on how much you feed your fish coz more food equals more poop and more ammonia. RM 3 only. they look like PK. i'll snap some pics and you guys identify it's PK or HMPK. at 1st i wanted to buy 1 only. i tot RM 10........ then shop people tell me RM 3. so ok la i sapu another 2. |

QUOTE(evildonkey @ Jul 28 2006, 09:46 PM) Guppies are notorious for being fin nippers...it's wouldn't be wise to mix guppy with betta unless u want to customized your HM into a CT...no idea about tetras though, maybe some bros here could confirm with you ok - now that's the 1st time i hear people say guppy being fin nippers.general rule is DO NOT put betta with anything with fancy tail ie goldfish, guppy......... bettas have sharp teeth and powerful jaw - guppies don't. guppies won't bother other people. they're the one that get bullied. my betta is now living with a bunch of Tiger Barbs (ok now these are the notorious nippers) but since he's PK there's nothing to nip at. however i've tried putting a veil tail (or was it a CT) with Tiger Barbs - i see those fellas homing in on him man. straight away pull out. |

betta you keep in decent sized container / jar also can already.
the thing about pipe water is you donno the condition, so what you can do is just fill up a pail with it and leave it for a few days. for those crown tail / half moon, you'll want to change water every 2 - 3 days. 2 - 3 days should be enough time to cure the water and that 1 pail will last you probably a month. |

depends on how the tap water is treated la.
some tap water no chlorine. others have. balbalblabla. for betta, easy only. keep a pail of water some place, leave it there for some days for the chlorine to wear off. after that you can use it for many water-changes. |
