QUOTE(mclelun @ Jul 23 2007, 12:03 PM) mmm i just got one question, female fighting fish can keep together in a single tank? because i saw this shop in kl central putting all the "betina" in one tank and not fighting each other. or maybe is it because the fish is still young and not mature to fight yet. yes, female betta can be kept together. although, u might wanna jar it for spawning purposes.

QUOTE(Samurai X @ Jul 26 2007, 10:48 AM) thanks a lot for the feedback, Inv. i've already ordered 'em from my singaporean buddy, anyway. should be at swimming in my partitioned tank soon. btw, can i keep 'em in fighting mood all the time? or placed some nice sticker/decoration in between? oh, and how does the full moon betta look like? thank you. best to only let them flare whenever you want to 'appreciate' your treasures. if you let them see each other too long, they will get tired, pull a muscle and might never flare again. therefore it's not advisable to keep 'em in fighting mood all the time. there is no such thing as a fullmoon betta. it's called a halfmoon due to the claudal spread of 180degrees. there are some instance where the claudal can open more than 180deg, thus the name OHM (over hm).

QUOTE(yewlin @ Aug 10 2007, 09:07 AM) Because the demand on selling betta is low and and demand on FOC fish is high and also want cheap with best quality...i got one customer told me that he can get the red HM(same or better than mine red HM) at RM6.00 at LFS, which i quote him RM120.00 per pair . So i guess nowday the price down like rocket... no point keeping them lor...maybe during the competition i will just buy from thai 'kaotime'....no need care about maintenance, sick, or food... wow...good upgrade man. , wish you all the best man aisey man, such a loss... anyway, good luck with your future endeavours! if u wanna get rid of some of your barrack tanks, let me know.

HM x HMPK should AT LEAST yield you 50% HM. All female spawn is not unheard of. Usually, fights seldom occur in a community tank with abundance of food, and especially when they have been brought up together.
as for female CT and HM, they won't sell it to you as they don't have stock. you gotta get these from breeders and a good one doesn't come cheap.

don't use days as a gauge to change water. water change should be done more frequent on smaller jars than bigger tanks.

QUOTE(wolfseed @ Nov 2 2007, 02:38 PM) RM50+ not a problem though i just wanna know what is the price range and where to get afaik, the local home breeders in the klang valley will have stock for Gold Blue Red Marble Mustard Gas (yellow/blue) Salamander (red/blue) Green (i might have forgot some..) price range is between RM70 - RM200 a pair depending on form (whether showgrade or non-showgrade) and breeder. yewlin has some pretty nice red HM (longfin) and HMPK (shortfin).

pm me your contact no. i'll get someone from cheras to teach you how to get there. i'm quite blur on how to get there by cheras as well. if u're good at reading maps or familiar with the kepong area, refer to this map for bird-eye view of the place. http://wikimapia.org/#lat=3.207849&lon=101...=18&l=0&m=a&v=2This post has been edited by inv: Nov 2 2007, 04:38 PM

QUOTE(mudz @ Nov 6 2007, 12:40 AM) erm.. how do u all determine the gred of bettas ?? gold betta's rare ?? and how much would a copper betta cost in market ?? i saw alot very nice ones over my fren's house gold betta is not rare, there are a few breeders whom are trying to improve the gold line in malaysia. price of a copper betta and other colours varies according to tailtype and grade. read this article here on how a showgrade plakat should have/look like.

QUOTE(VT-Ten @ Nov 26 2007, 12:57 PM) hey guys, im a fan of betta but if stop owning them for a few years now. my last betta was red with long and spiky tail. sorry, dont know the actual breed. before it dies, it keep sinking to the bottom of the tank, only coming to the surface for a gasp of breath, then sinks back down again. i've tried stimulating it using a mirror and it did response to it well, but will sink again when i took away the mirror. what kind of disease is this? another female betta of mine.... it became bloated to a round shape and finally the tummy exploded and died. i did not overfed it... got infected with virus? last question, i plan to buy another long tail betta again, and plan to put it togheter with a group of guppies. i read somewhere that it's not recommended, but what if i outnumber the betta with, say, 20 over guppies to 1 betta. will my betta behave then? thx spiky tail are the crowntail variant. the behavior u described is what the betta do when it's sick, it's not specific to the type of illness. i've never encountered exploding stomach before, maybe other sifus can help you regarding that. check out this thread here for common betta illness description and treatment. i don't think the betta will behave just because it's outnumbered.

QUOTE(Jamien @ Dec 7 2007, 03:57 AM) ^^ I reared a couple of beta back a couple of years. had a lot of them, but my favourite was the halfmoon variety. Crowntails are not bad too. One of my favourite beta could do a trick. It would jump out from the water and touch my fingers. ^^ It was cool. I'm thinking about rearing again but I don't know where to get good breeds. Any suggestions? good breeds usually comes from hobbyist. quality is dependant on your budget. tailtype also plays a part on pricing as well. let me know your favourite colour and tailtype and i might be able to point you to the right direction. Look here for more infoQUOTE(chow1942 @ Dec 7 2007, 07:19 AM) guess i sin a lot! Feed my beta with small longkang fish... wow, high protein diet! maybe i shud rare longkang fish to feed mine with as well.. HAHA.. This post has been edited by inv: Dec 7 2007, 12:27 PM
