Thanks . but i never heard of illegear brand before. . sorry im not from IT industry tough
*
Illegear has started getting popular since 2012. icon_rolleyes.gif
in the past, people's whom own Sager laptops mostly are brought in from other countries, mainly USA. in order to do that, Illegear was established and their role is to distribute Sager laptops in Malaysia. in 2012, after distributing Sager laptops for 2 years, now they evolved their business into a custom laptop building industry.

mainstream brands normally dont bring 17" laptops into the local market. so far the companies that did it are Dell (their inspiron 17 7000) and MSI (GP70) AFAIK.

QUOTE(ShumT @ May 23 2014, 12:21 AM)
I suggest u to get MSI because Toshiba no more popular in market la.. U can get GE70 Apache Pro, it is within ur budget : RM4,299 only. And also come with 17” screen size ler… I can say this model can fulfill all ur requirements.
*
stop your foolish attitude. people asked for an around 2k budget laptop and you recommended him/her a 4k budget laptonp. not to mention, your suggestion is overkilling. mad.gif

Thanks guys. What about thin/light laptops that are lower-end (i.e. cheaper) but with same specs except for HDD which can be upgraded to SSD? Most of these machines have the same RAM and processor anyway; I was thinking I could save a bit of money by buying a cheaper computer and upgrading that myself.
*
Vostro 5470 is out of your option because it doesnt support SSD. the rest are just overpriced. but why dont you consider this?

Asking for a friend:

1. Preferred Brand: Any brand, just no netbooks, etc - Wants something with some "power" (i.e. quad core, 4/8GB RAM, etc) - i don't know if doable, haven't been surveying the market for a long time
2. Budget: Not exceeding RM1500, preferably lower.
3. Usage: General usage, does not need to be too mobile
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: 15" and above

Thanks in advanced

im curious, why did your friend need a quad core for general usage? hmm.gif

Thanks for the suggestion of Yoga 2 13. I prefer Yoga 2 Pro because of the weight. I'm pretty sure I can just pull out the whole HDD from the 5470 and replace with an SSD...http://lawyerz.blogspot.co.uk/2013/12/vostro-5470-review-malaysia.html

no, Dell gave a pretty doubting reason; the Vostro 5470 comes in 2 versions, one with SSD and one without SSD so you need to beware.

get a 15 or 17 inch laptop if you are into drawing. bigger screen helps it a lot, just the fact that it will be heavier.

15 inch :
Lenovo

Thanks for advise. I was looking for lenovo Y series, since it has Nvidia Gt755 (which is betta than 740/840) And also laptop with dvd drive.

Wat i understand msi display have blue cast, color accuracy is not there, which is crucial for photo editing.

if you can bump up your budget a little, you can go for it. the Lenovo Y510P is definitely a good buy.

Hi all, any suggestion.

1. Preferred Brand: Dell, HP or any other brand with excellent aftersales n warranty service)
2. Budget: RM2000 - RM2500
3. Usage: Office works, internet browsing, light video n graphic editing.
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: for travelling / lightweight / internal parts and HDD can be upgradable / 13-14 inch.
Note that i had survey on these notebook from dell. which one is most value for money or any other recomendation.

Inspiron 14 5000 Series i5-4210U, 4GB RAM, 500gb hdd, Win8, RM2198 with 3Yr ProSupport: NBD Onsite Service
Inspiron 14 5000 Series  i7-4510U, 8GB RAM, 1TB hdd, uBuntu, RM2498 with 3Yr ProSupport: NBD Onsite Service

if you are into video and graphic editing, its better to have Nvidia graphics card IMO. Nvidia's CUDA technology helps you a lot for your usage.

HP
Pavilion 14-N223TX, i5-4200U + Nvidia GT740M + (1366x768; touch)@RM2399[2.03kg], 4GB, 750GB, W8.1; colors: silver/black

you may consider Lenovo as well, the warranty service is good but not as excellent as Dell and HP.

Lenovo

so that means you need a touch screen laptop. only touch screen laptop has digitizers, so the Dell Inspiron 15 and 17 7000 is your only option.

how bout their performance? cooling system?

screen resolution is smaller for the Y410P. performance is same but cooling system, Y510P will perform better due to more spaces in the laptop, allowing escape of hot air.
