Can consider this one if you want it light nod.gif
15.6"
Dell Inspiron 15 7000, i7-4500U + Nvidia GT750M (GDDR5) + (1920x1080; Touch)@RM3599[2.6kg], 8GB, 1TB(5400rpm), W8.1SL, backlit keyboard, 58Whr

*Prices in RRP
*Try looking for bro putochip123, he should be able to sell you cheap enough so that you have remaining budget to get an mSATA or even an SSD upgrade  icon_rolleyes.gif

If you prefer something heavier (but more powerful):
15.6"
Lenovo Z510, i7-4702MQ + Nvidia GT740M@RM2799[2.2kg], 4GB, 1TB, backlit, W8; 2 yrs

MSI GE60-2OC-471MY, i7-4800MQ + Nvidia GT750M(GDDR5) + (1920x1080; anti-glare)@RM3499,8GB, 750GB(7200rpm), W8, steel series KB
*
correction, the heaviest here is the Dell Inspiron 15 7000.

hi guys, need some recommend about 2 gaming laptops.

GE60 Apache Pro-RM4199 and GX70 Destroyer-RM4699.

One is nVidia and another is AMD Radeon,
*
Go for GE60. The gpu in the GX70 is bottlenecked by the processor.

Huh? but the GX70 come with ssd, the performance between Rx290 and 860m, which is better?
*
as i said, the GPU in the GX70 is bottlenecked by the processor. such a high end GPU but with a poor CPU, your games will perform the same as a laptop with i7 and GTX860M.

and take note, aftermarket mSATA SSD is priced at around RM400. you could save back a hundreds if you go for GE60.
or my best recommendation, go for :

Illegear RE-15, i7-4700MQ + Nvidia GTX860M + (1920x1080)@RM3799[2.6kg][Onkyo, SoundBlaster Cinema], 8GB, 500GB(Hybrid), FreeDOS, [CPU Options: i5-4200M - i7-4900MQ]

lol illegear, i do think for it for few days,
but the design wise msi is prettier although illegear can customize the outlook,
wat i aim to GE60 is the 1tb hdd, killer wifi+lan and the steelseries customize keyboard.

its really tough to choose lol
*
what i can say, go for cooling efficiency is better. Illegear has the best cooling efficiency compared to other laptops, and it performs on par with ASUS and Alienware.

well that is interesting..
any pros again for the illegear?

customizations, easy user accessible hardwares, good hardware ergonomics.
there are more SATA ports in Illegear as well. biggrin.gif
one drawback is the internal speakers but who would game with internal speakers when you have headphones or external speakers?

QUOTE(-Hzu- @ May 9 2014, 05:11 PM)
Brand: Doesn't matter, preferably reputable ones, especially for their build quality, like the IBM/Lenovo (Lenovo, eh?), Dell, etc.

Budget: BELOW RM3000.

Usage: Mostly for work, some light gaming, e.g. LoL, ETS2. I'll be typing a lot on it, so I will need a great, comfy keyboard. I have big fingers, by the way.

Size: Doesn't matter, but if I could get one with FHD it's even better. Weight is also not a concern, I'm a pretty strong guy, if I must say so, hahaha.

I'm thinking of picking up either one of those refurbished ThinkPads/EliteBooks/Latitudes but since they are way too old and uses the first generation of the Core i series, it felt as if they doesn't worth it, although I actually want them for the build quality.

If anybody can recommend me a laptop under RM3000 (or maybe UNDER RM2000 lol) that have top-notch (if possible) build quality, designed for tough environments, great comfortable keyboard and packed with preferably the latest Haswell Core-i7, that would be very great. I don't need a dedicated GPU, since I will only be doing some light gaming.
*
RM3000 is kinda impossible to get a tough laptop. damn, the pricing of those Thinkpads, Latitudes and Elitebooks, opt for full HD is not even possible. by the way :

Lenovo
ThinkPad Edge E440, i5-4200M + Intel HD4600@RM2659, 4GB, 1TB(5400rpm), W7P + W8P
ThinkPad Edge E440, i7-4702MQ + Intel HD4600@RM3259, 4GB, 1TB(5400rpm), W7P + W8P

HP
ProBook 440 G1, i5-4200M + Intel HD4600 + (1366x768, anti-glare)@RM2399[2.1kg], 4GB, 500GB (7200rpm), W7P/W8P, 47WHr, spill-resistant keyboard
ProBook 440 G1, i5-4200M + AMD HD8750M + (1366x768, anti-glare)@RM2499[2.1kg], 4GB, 500GB (7200rpm), W7P/W8P, 47WHr, spill-resistant keyboard

prices in RRP and negotiable.

*
put SSD upgrade aside 1st, or deselect 1TB hybrid drive option. only upgrade to SSD once you have the money. you can also go for the pre-selected 500GB Hybrid drive 1st.

QUOTE(ericling @ May 9 2014, 08:48 PM)
1. Preferred Brand: Asus and Lenovo. I normally use computer for a long duration of time. I had good experience with Asus laptop because they don't heat up easily.

2. Budget: 1.5-1.8k.

3. Usage: I am buying this laptop for my college life. Studying business so I guess it's all the normal office work. I play FIFA 14 and FIFA Online only. Watching videos, and download/torrent.

4. Preferred laptop/screen size: 14 inches.

5. Extra:
-HDMI port
-Support 1080p videos
-FreeDOS
-No touch screen because I am going to use Windows 7 only.

Lenovo G500S, i5-3230M + Nvidia GT720M@RM1699, 4GB, 500GB, FreeDOS is currently on top of the list. What's the Asus alternative to this? Would like to compare the design.
*
ASUS X552LD-SX208/209D, i5-4200U + Nvidia 820M@RM1799, 4GB, 500GB, FreeDOS, 1 year

but take note warranty experience isnt pleasing as other brands.

What is the better combination?

a) Nvidia GT720M and i5-3230M
b) Nvidia GT820M and i5 i5-4200U

I play only football games like Fifa Online 3 and FIFA 14.
*
both are more or same. just that i5-4200U is an ULV processor, so its more power efficient that the G500S.

DOS with retail is better. you can get to install as many times as you like.
the one that comes with laptop is OEM versions.

but isit as cheap as rm200...where microsoft selling 300++ for normal and about 500 for pro version....
i found it here https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=3034728&hl=, trustworthy seller?
*
take note from this seller :

Package includes:OEM version.COA(Product Key Sticker) & DVD Installer.

of course it will as low as around RM200. once you use OEM version, that serial key will tie to the laptop's motherboard that you installed, means you have no chance to use that serial key on other laptops/PC to format.

*
normally the ones on lelong are best prices, may be not negotiable. so far the ones i saw in Hyperstores are retail pricing, which is negotiable.
btw, any further questions please post another new topic. this is a laptop's suggestions thread.

actually there is one that fits your budget, just no backlit keyboards, keyboard typing experience is not quite pleasant and maybe not favourable design.
