I never paid much attention to the handheld market.... Big boys play on big screen TV  tongue.gif  Is the 3DS a success only in Japan or globally?  I only knew Vita has failed in the handheld market for Sony  sweat.gif

58.85 million units as of Q1 2016, with 21 million in Japan alone.

Now if only we can have a fraction of that in most households, that'll be great for VR.

I tried Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA Future Tone with cinematic mode last night & all I can say is BIG MIKU!!!

I will never look at Miku the same again after playing Future Tone with cinematic mode. tongue.gif

Ugh they need to patch it with VR!

All those 3D textures just waiting to be experienced up close.

Well after my first impression with the pixelated graphics of Alumette and playroom VR, not sure why but after trying the demo disc last night I can say I'm pretty impressed. Maybe I didn't adjust correctly the first time or its really just the game. But Job Simulator looks great and with the two move controllers = mind blown.

Granted I've never tried the Rift or the Vive but the game surpass expectation. Will be using the free RM 100 to get it
*
The mind blown award goes to Batman and Area X of Rez.

Be sure to check that out.

Tried cinematic mode, got the drifting screen problem. Very obvious and need to recentre about every half minute or so. It's not as obvious in games tho, maybe cos youre not staring at a fixed position. Anyone else got the problem + solved it?
*
While waiting for them to patch the drift, my workaround seems to be doing well for me.

Start by sitting 90 degrees to your right, letting it drift all the way and following the screen, once it's on your left side, reposition yourself back to right side and hold option to recenter and try again.

Sometimes it doesn't drift after that, sometimes never drift at all. Very odd indeed.

anyone in penang if interested in buying PS VR please pm me as my friend said he having headache playing games in VR and so planning to sell it.

- Bundle set (Include camera)

Thanks

It's normal to have headaches, your friend needs to train his brain to get used to VR.

Try blowing a fan towards him and only play 5 mins everyday.

You’ve got your new PlayStation VR headset, but you’re struggling to cope with motion sickness?

It’s not an issue for everyone, and there are many PSVR games that don’t make you feel nauseous, but for some it’s a very real problem, and symptoms can include: headaches, dizziness, stomach aches, and hot sweats.

I’ve experienced motion sickness, though not to the point of feeling like I was going to throw up, on games where there’s a lot of movement, like RIGS, Battlezone and EVE: Valyerie.

My initial way to handle feeling dizzy was to stop playing, or switch back to games that don’t make me feel motion sick, but I don’t want to do that - I want to spend as much time in a virtual reality world as possible, and feel comfortable doing so.

man feeling sick while playing psvr

Here's some tips to help prevent motion sickness.

1. You must take a break
Your brain is adjusting to virtual reality, but it will get better over time. Many VR games actively encourage you to take breaks at strategic save points in their games because they’ve conducted studies on how long you should be playing for. Take heed of this advice. Go grab a drink, take a walk in the fresh air, and come back in 10 minutes.

2. Breathe in and out deeply
Whenever you’re feeling a little overwhelmed, take a deep breath in and out to calm yourself down. Try and regulate your breathing while playing. The more over excited you get, the faster your breathing becomes and the more motion sick you may feel. Check this out...look how over excited I got playing Here They Lie, my legs are all over the place, but after some deep breathes I felt okay to carry on.

3. Get a fan blowing in your face
If you’ve got a fan at home, set it up in front of you and let that cool air blow across your face. You know when you were a kid and you were feeling sick in the car from a long journey? What would mom do? She’d open the window and let some fresh air in. Cooling yourself down with a fan may help prevent hot sweats and generally give you a feeling of being more grounded.

4. Chew on a piece of gum
Chewing gum has worked for me. I was able to play RIGS for almost 45 minutes rather than the usual 15 minute spell without feeling motion sickness. Your brain gets confused by movement, so giving your brain something else to focus on (the movement of your jaws chewing gum) can really help.

5. Calibrate your PlayStation VR headset
It’s easy to get excited when your headset arrives, and you want to dive right into those games, but you should spend time in the settings calibrating the VR headset for your eyes. It was a couple of days before I did this, and headaches and sickness have really improved. I was getting blurry vision, and straining to read menus in-game, but I took time to calibrate and now vision is much clearer.

6. Don’t move your head unless you need to
The more you move your head, the sicker you can become. Many VR games give you the option of looking around with head movement, or using the thumbstick of the DualShock 4 controller. Use the latter option when you can. You can alleviate symptoms by restricting your head movement as much as possible.

7. Eat or drink ginger
Ginger has long been a treatment for motion sickness and nausea. Cut up some fresh ginger, pour some boiling water over it, and then take some sips while you’re playing your PSVR games. You can buy ginger in capsule format if that’s easier, or nibble on some ginger biscuits. The guys at Virmo claim to have the world’s first solution for motion sickness.

8. Play games that don’t make you sick
I know, it’s disappointing, but if you can’t shake off that motion sickness stick to the games that don’t make you feel sick, or build up your resilience with titles that have less movement, and go back to those other games at a later date to see if you’ve acclimatised.

9. Play games sitting down
The first game I played standing up was Sports Bar VR. I was all over the place – shaky legs, wobbling from side-to-side, and feeling totally dizzy. If you can’t cope with motion, then play your games sitting down. It doesn’t ruin the experience and you’ll feel a lot more grounded.

10. Give your eyes a break
Your eyes are important. Without them you wouldn’t be able to see! Treat your eyes with respect, and give them a break whenever you can. During loading screens or at save points, close your eyes for a few moments to give them a breather.

VR motion sickness, i guess will take quite some getting used to. resolution/quality/calibration aside, more caused especially(for me) when there's quick camera movement/twisting but body/eyes are not moving thus body/brain will feel as though somewhat disoriented . when i feel uneasy, i just bear with it for a while , when it's too much, i try closing my eyes for 2-3 seconds and take some deep breaths. if that doesn't work, then i pause/stop for a period of time, get a drink, go toilet break before coming back. still happening for me, but i feel that its getting better and better.
but that's just for me
*
That's how it should be, powering through the sickness will only make things far worse.

TLDR:
Would you ever consider purchasing a Nintendo 3DS ?
i) Yes , i play for the unique games & experience -> OK to buy PSVR
ii) No, 3DS graphics suck -> DO NOT buy PSVR
*
Do you want to become Batman, Superman, and Spider-Man one day?

Yes? Get the PSVR.

Do you want to actually feel terrified and yell out loud in horror games?

Yes? Get the PSVR.

Can you easily spend that amount of cash without affecting your essential spending?

No? Better start saving then.

Turn off all comfort settings and use head turning.

Doesn't matter if you can't last 60 seconds.

You gotta build up your tolerance this way, it's the best way to experience being a badass.

Anybody tried Windlands yet?

I had zero nausea and had loads of fun becoming Nathan Drake/Spiderman jumping all around hunting for crystals.

And I'm supposedly afraid of heights! Be sure to record your friends playing it for the first time. I grinned and yell "Woo Hoo!" far too many times.

Windlands protip:

- Standing is the only way to play, no discussion.

- I can understand the nausea in this game would be insane for some, be sure to toggle comfort settings to your own preference before you start. Test jump and turn around before you proceed.

- I highly recommend playing easy first, limiting hooks to bushes is too much, enjoy exploring, learning and doing your own stunts on any surface.

- when you miscalculate your jump or hooks, it can be really terrifying, be sure to keep your real life self balanced, I almost fell too many times, too immersive.

- Don't look down too much, seriously. Eyes up front.

Mine's on a waiting list, possibly late nov/early dec.

Can't wait to see the improvements especially in Bound.

If you have cinematic mode drift, turning off Bluetooth around you helps a lot, it's still there but happens much lesser now.

Tried psvr at midvalley sony store yesteday. Virtual tank. Played 5 min and stomach get quesy. Cold sweats and nausea followed. I'm jealous of you guys who don't suffer from VR induced nausea as was thinking getting it to play EVE valkyrie / hopefully other flying sims in future. Was thinking maybe external stimulus / cockpit gear that give tactile / slight movement ques help like those driving sim in arcades may help orientate body- space-position to the visual ques ... but those means more cost..
Sad but won't be getting it
*
All NASA astronauts don't ace their training in a day, everyone have different tolerance with nausea, even I avoided rolling in Eve too much despite how awesome it is, I wouldn't want to puke in my room.

Everybody can adapt to VR, just need to be patient, blowing fan and ginger supplements helps.

QUOTE(mousqy @ Nov 7 2016, 10:58 AM)
can i play normal games with it? example BF1?

better way of putting it can it act as a display for normal games?
*
Yes, quality is degraded, but I definitely feel like in a cinema, I can't wait to see further improvements after seeing VR comparison shots with PS4 pro.

I've repositioned my PSVR setup and attached the charging cable on my DS4.

I'm doing 12 hours a day during weekends. Just make sure brightness is sufficiently dimmed to prevent eye strain. And not to mention setting alarm for food and toilet breaks.

Time passes really fast in VR.
