Preordered PSVR and tried them out at Somerset yesterday.

Shame they didn't have PS move with London Heist demo, only gunjack, battlezone, and that underwater shark thing.

So I played VR playroom with the staff, me vs 3 DS4 users.

It was surprisingly immersive and ridiculously fun, feels unreal smashing buildings and helicopters with my head, and getting launched into space. Got bullied in the mouse mini game, no way my head could beat their reflex.

No man's Sky would've been perfect in VR.

This changes everything. Go and try it now.

Where did you preorder from? The sony store?
*
The Sony flagship store in Orchard.

I think you guys can consider preordering in SG. It's RM1950 with camera. Call them to check stock availability.

Yesterday already placed "Selling Fast!" stickers.

so is all the games smooth on the playstation vr?

Thanks

Very very smooth, and immersive.

Staff giving me instructions over my left side, and I still get confused. "There's no one to my left, oh..... yeah this is a demo"

Nope, they don't have it. The game feels like a boring rail shooter. So I just skipped it.

It's somewhat interesting knowing that I need to receive a phone call to book a collection timeslot for my preorder in Sony store SG. Some people received their call yesterday and I've yet to receive any calls.

Seems to me supply is severely limited.

Reading most the replies here got me worried.

So I just called them and check, guy was about to call me anyways. Haha

My unit is ready for collection!

There shall be no sleep tonight

Let me try asking them about the supply crunch, maybe you guys can buy in SG instead.

Congrats Man!

Did you ask if they have an idea why stocks are delayed in Malaysia? They should spill the beans on who didn't read the email or slept on the job with their Malaysian counterpart.
*
No idea, they aren't being well prepared as well.

There wasn't any physical copies of PSVR games left, so the dude pushed me to buy some PSN cards. lol

We just got ourselves the iphone hype for real.

Btw, everyone MUST try THUMPER.

It felt so hypnotic and intense, it's like taking drugs.

So good.

Headset is so comfy I forgot I'm wearing them after awhile, graphics are noticeably bad if you're coming from 4K gaming, but it doesn't even matter.

Not sure if PSVR is a blessing or a curse. All I'm thinking at work is going through the rest of the VR demos and fire up Miku concert and Summer Lesson.

Watching TV shows and movies in large cinematic mode works well, and VR video apps are fantastic too. Especially Vrideo.

My guess this will only get worse as more immersive content gets released.

For VR to go mainstream, it is a start. It's neither a blessing or a curse. It will be a few more generations before VR can truly take over traditional 2D gaming experiences.

Movies on VR will forever be a niche unfortunately, even if it'll be a succesful one.
*
I've bought Summer Lesson and that 360 Dating thingy.

Let's see if girls can truly become obsolete.

QUOTE(cryspower @ Oct 14 2016, 02:11 PM)
cool. I heard some ppl get vr sickness playing some content such as RE7 . did you experience any of such?
*
For first time VR players, definitely would feel queasy.

That's why most people recommend the ocean descent scenic demo before suggesting more fast paced content like eve valkyrie and RIGS.

Personally felt okay. I took it off after an hour though.

I believe once the VR novelty wears off, you will be able to focus on work again LOL  whistling.gif sweat.gif  From what I've seen/read so far, most VR games are still tech demo, even those released on Occulus and Vive, most of the games can be completed very fast.

Some of the games are intentionally designed to be short or small chunk per level, so as to reduce the fatigue from VR gameplay. Other games are short because the developer simply want to earn quick $ over the VR craze while it last.  hmm.gif
*
Nah, from what I see. Sony greatly underestimated the potential of PSVR. Worldwide shortage especially poor Malaysian gamers.

We're just getting started. Meanwhile I'm enjoying my personal cinema and going through old content. War Thunder is anything but short, it's a career!

Currently the VR cinema mode does not support watching 3D bluray movies...... doh.gif Can only watch normal 2D movies.
No 3D movies and lower resolution really puts me off the idea of buying PSVR to serve as a private cinema of sort. I like 3D, definitely looking forward for the 2nd gen VR with better resolution and less cables before taking the plunge..... innocent.gif

Go and try Vrideo

Select 3D and indulge

Vrideo? Is it built in features of PSVR or sold as a VR app?
*
It's a free media app, think YouTube but with users uploading 3D 360 videos, it's really awesome.

QUOTE(dOtcOm @ Oct 14 2016, 03:40 PM)
do they have optional cinematic effect rendering so that we feel like we're in cinema.. with head silhouettes etc. lol

eh War Thunder support VR?
*
It feels just like in a cinema, just that you can't see the seats.

I know how I'll be watching my 1080p anime from now on.

Just don't game with it though, it's pretty yucky.

Some people mistakenly thought war thunder support coming out on launch day, it's actually launch window of PSVR. Hopefully this year.

i heard is gianbomb setup issue or the headset issue as a lot ps vr user does not have the issue or very minimal issue.
*
Ignore giantbomb. I've tried my best to fuck with the tracking, with lights on and stuffs.

Must've been their studio lighting messing with the camera and them blowing it out of proportion.

Don't take my word for it, head over to r/PSVR and see all the satisfied users.

There's that drift to the left problem, but that can be remedied by calibrating over at the settings instead of restarting the headset.

I'm going to start my marathon tonight, let's see how it goes.

It only plays 3D 360 videos uploaded by users, meaning it can't play 3D bluray movies
Do we at least get HD quality from PSVR cinema mode? Anything less than HD equivalent sharpness is like watching DVD quality movie.... sad.gif
Perhaps future vr set needs to have at least 4K or even 8k pixels to give us HD equivalent sharpness at such close proximity to our eyes?

The review on Driveclub VR is bad, saying the low resolution of the far distance make it difficult to see the turns ahead.
*
I think 3D bluray needs additional tweaking and patch from Sony to be made compatible. As far as I know, 3D VR is fantastic in games that are made for PSVR now. Cinematic mode is a 3D cinema, so I'm not sure how they'll do 3D movies on 3D itself.

Alright I managed to play non-stop for 5 hours straight, decided to end the session because my eyes was feeling tired. Headset is comfy as hell, I think I can easily do 10 hours had my eyes let me.

Make sure you calibrate properly before you start playing with your headset, that means you'll be better off doing the advanced calibrating at the PS4 settings, where you hold your headset and match the lights on your TV/monitor screen, this is way difficult than it sounds cause I kept moving my hands and the damn calibration is taking its sweet time. After that go ahead and do the eye calibration and centering, the 70cm one.

Switch off all lights or cover your windows in daytime. I used my study desk and a regular chair, stacked 12 PS4 game cases, a toilet roll and placed the camera right on top of it. Distance between my headset and camera is roughly 1.2 meters away.

With this set up I had absolutely no issues with tracking throughout the session, only had two instance where I experienced the drift to the left problem once I pushed the PS button and exited to the PS4 home screen, easily remedied by holding the option button to recenter. Another time the cinematic mode was being jittery as I moved my head, I suspect it's the PS4 being laggy while a VR game is being run, problem went away after I close the VR application.

Try not to block your headset lights when moving your controller around, this was evident when I was busy swinging the Miku glow stick and everything starts to jitter. It'll be interesting how they handle the aim controller with Farpoint next year.

Alright now that boring stuff gets out of the way, let's talk about game impressions.

I highly highly highly recommend getting the free Playroom VR and start out with Robots Rescue, it's a fantastic 3D VR platformer with you controlling a robot and trying to catch the other robots scattered around the area. You'll feel queasy when you start moving the robot around so be sure to take it nice and easy. You can smash your head on the boulders too!

Next up, Battlezone. This is so much fun, I felt queasy when I started to rotate the tank, as I mentioned, you don't need to quit playing when you feel that way, just take it easy and let your brain adjust itself. If you can't handle this, I don't recommend trying RIGS cause that's far more intense.

Rez is amazing as well, you get sucked into the world and I loved everything about it, this and Thumper is a must buy for music fans. No issues with it whatsoever.

Kitchen demo, goddamn it I knew exactly what's going to happen, and yet the crazy bitch freaks me out, I've felt that stab, it's insane how immersive it is, despite the jaggy image.

Summer Lesson, or should I say the paid tech demo of future dating sims. When she comes closer towards me I instinctively move back a little, it's really solid immersion, girls beware, I can see bright future with this. Not just for entertainment, but for virtual counseling and therapy.

360 Date, it was kinda cool, but I had little control over playback and I wanted to try other things. Will try watching the entire thing tonight.

Alright now here's the best part of the entire session, I believe Miku and games with similar style are perfect for PSVR. I think for the 7 songs they had in stage 1 of VR future live, I just kept repeating and repeating the concert. It's just that good. Good for exercising too, cause you'll be swinging the glow sticks throughout the performance.

If you liked panties, and with SEGA's blessing, you can have panties, just set height to -100 and head on stage. Black panties aside, the 3D effects are super gorgeous, everything is right in your face, literally get up close and personal with the virtual idol. This makes it pointless to be standing outside of the stage. You'd want to stay as close to her as you can.

Next up I tried some games in cinematic mode, starting with War Thunder. It's somewhat playable, texts are slightly readable to a certain extent, but I just can't get into it due to the jaggedness of everything. I'll just have to wait for the VR support.

Switched to more Miku goodness and I was blown away, I liked it so much I just carried on playing for the rest of my session. Easily the most playable game in large size cinematic mode. Both Project Diva X and Future Tone are fantastic on the big screen, probably due to fact it's sharp to begin with and super colorful. Everything just pops out in front of you, and I had to shift my view to follow the music notes.

I guess I'll be trying all my PS4 games to see what works, any ideas on what I should try next?

I doubt any direct capture screenshot will show us the true picture quality. The main reason is like a same picture that looks nice and sharp when looked from a distance will looked pixelated if held literally in your face.

Go see many of the YouTube videos, we can definitely see that text is kind of blurry in the game.

The sacrifice of psvr is the picture sharpness, texture and polygons count, but definitely generation ahead of ps2 graphic lah smile.gif back then how little polygons the console can push out.
*
It's quite the opposite actually, the image looks sharper the closer it is to the screen, that's why I said Miku games worked best, it's always in your face.

Fallout 4 and GTAV would look like shit from a distance, have to confirm tonight. 2D indie titles and fighting games should be fine.

QUOTE(cryspower @ Oct 15 2016, 08:31 AM)
I've been to Japan for idols handshake events and concerts. twice this year already. I wonder with VR , will they make an app for a virtual experience in the future, or concert videos in VR mode . that will make my day.
*
There are BILLIONS to be made here, I'm sure they're working on it. Extra virtual tickets sold for live baseball matches and concert events is coming for sure.

Yeah unfortunately, it is as they said. That's why I can't bother to include it in my post.

That and the fact it's extra queasy prevented me from finishing the race.

Well I'm going to try a few more cinematic games before I'm diving deep into RIGS tonight.

This one has the most potential, it's PSVR's very own Rocket League and it's addictive! See you guys next week!

Man, how on earth did I just spend 5 hours playing RIGS? I guess dimming the display helped.

Endzone is the new crack.

There's 7 days exchange with Sony, so far my headset is flawless.

Dude should build a special dark corner and try again.

Miku VR future live pro tip.

Might want to enjoy the Project Diva X VR patch first before deciding on this purchase.

You can pick any song, any modules and accessory and any stage you want and edit into your personal concert. My personal favorite is the underwater one.

Best part is you can pause the performance and adjust the height on the fly. Those 3D modules are really cool.
