CoolerMaster Hyper 212X CPU cooler - RM125
Western Digital 1TB HDD - RM189
Kingston KVR 8Gb x2 DDR3 1600 - RM490 (12GB is bare minimum...)

Hey! Congrats on V5!

My SAMSUNG 2033SW has officially kaput.. Now it got some vertical lines after idk maybe 4 years of service.

Im looking at something presumably the same specs. What monitor would you guys recommend? Budget is just about RM 400 maybe? haha thx
*
Better go for full HD monitor(21.5") since you can afford one.

The slightly better And extra fps is it worth the extra money ? To me the differences is quite alot

It has a better cooling design,pre-OCed and can OC further(which can go as high as 13% quicker than the normal GTX760,depends on what kinda game you play)without worrying the temp..

Hi guys,

I've chosen my core parts :

Processor : CORE I7 4770 - 3.40ghz ( RM949 )
Casing : Fractal Design Define R4 Black Pearl Non-Window (RM370)
RAM : 16gb ram
SSD hdd for main C:\ drive : ( INTEL 530 SERIES 120GB )  RM359
additional hdd :- 2tb sata 3 - western digital - RM269
DVD-RW drive - RM62

*prices sourced from Viewnet + ALL-IT

I'd appreciate a recommendation for RAM, motherboard and a graphics card

Chose a MSI GTX660 for my graphics card but if there's a better one which fits in my budget, please do let me know !

A wee bit confused for the RAM as there are a few brands but to fit into my allocated budget i chose a DDR3 1600Mhz value ram from ALL-IT priced at RM209 , it should be ok yeah ?

still considering between ordering it from IdealTech or sourcing the parts on my own from lowyat but as I've no experience in proper cable management for airflow and all, I still have got to look up more on that

thanks guys

Don''t take easy on PSU.Simple error may caused a terrible damage.

Oh is it?  sweat.gif  But not just Elder Scroll, the current Titanfall and last year games i also intend to play. BF4, AC4, TR and such. I think better to go with better GPU? Or maybe follow your route?
The next upgrade might be end of this year when got budget.
*
But imo,i3 4130 + GTX760 = bottleneck..no? hmm.gif

Seems like i3 is underpowered.

GPU:Gainward GTX760 2GB GDDR5 RM789
RAM:Corsair 8GB DDR3 1600MHz RM239

ODD:Liteon 24x DVDRW RM59
Total:RM2582
GPU is from Lingloong @GS,the rest are from Viewnet.
A bit over budget there,if you want it cheaper,you can consider Sapphire R9 270 2GB GDDR5 OC RM679 and FSP Hexa 500W RM149 (From Viewnet). wink.gif
If u want to upgrade the GPU to let's say GTX770/R9 280 and above,you need a better PSU. smile.gif
*
Tone down the PSU to Antec VP-550 so chickenworm can afford to buy Gainward GTX760 Phantom 2GB.

Hey guys ! I've been long long away from rig build since my last did.. abit lost with the current rig trends.. and i need your guys help me in picking
Basically after my previous desktop dead from thunder short circuit I just move forwards to laptop as I've travel alot until now again back to desktop rig world  rclxm9.gif

CPU :: Intel Xeon or i7 ?
Yeap as i mentioned above I will need to do a lot of heavy rendering, according what I 'googled' and most of the post over here I think what i need is CPU intensive instead of GPU
But I'm confuse with some technical questions which do I pick ? At first I was good to go with Xeon as the parallel processing power is better, but some said i7 multi-threading wins at some point..
Performance wise, which shall I go ? as I saw i7 at certain level is quite exp thou ...

Mobo :: ASUS or Asrock ?
Never heard of Asrock before but it looks like it's like one of the mainstream ?  rclxub.gif

Memory :: Performance / Value RAM ? 8 / 16GB ?
From my experience of ram choosing for laptop.. Performance or Value ram doesn't make significant improvement.. I doubt that on desktop.. suggestion ?

GPU :: SAPPHIRE R9 280X TOXIC / VAPOR-X
No really a demand for this time as my 3yrs old HD5770 still working well (hopefully), I found that R9 280x looks like the decent hot pick in here ?
If budget allow I don't mind do this upgrade  tongue.gif  Question only for the different on Toxic & Vapor-X, I read some post said it's most probably the same and do the RM50 worth the different ?

HDD :: WD Black / Purple / Green ?
I'm very storage-hungry user as most of my working files counts by GB..  doh.gif
2 or 3TB looks like my need here. For a file storage purpose, do I need a better one like Black or Purple ?

PSU :: 850w / 1000w ? Corsair / CM ?
My most less knowledge on this everytime
My maths sucks i can't understand the format on the post here, which I need assist in this very much..  cry.gif

ODD :: Liteon 24x SATA DVDR+W
This one I think should be fit me enough ~

Case :: Corsair Vengeance C70 (White) ATX Mid Tower Case
Only this will be my only 'must-have', I like the design and it score high feedback on temp control and i'll need this rig operate almost non-stop..  doh.gif
You guys have any cheaper/better choice suggestion ?
I know i'm annoying questions people.. so.. thanks in advance!

Thanks ! Some questions following..
Why Asrock H87 Pro4 ?
Toxic R9 @ RM1199 from which dealer ?

Different between Cooler Master V550 80+ Gold & Seasonic G-550 Modular 80+ Gold is .. ?

how do you know that 550w is enough for these ?

Thanks again ! tongue.gif
*
Sorry.Typo error.It's actually RM1299

Why H87 Pro4?It's cheap.Major brands like Asus,Gigabyte are always overpriced and usually has no much difference with other cheaper brands like Asrock,MSI etc.

Regarding the PSU,it's up to you to choose.Both made by seasonic AFAIK and should be no much differences in terms of reliability.

Edited :

Sorry.V700 and 850 that made by seasonic.But Enhance also a good manufacturer.They've built most of Silverstone's PSU,Zalman,CM's Silent PSUs etc..
