Your groceries spent was in June or July ?
*
June transaction, July also got, with their excuse, I considered paid the annual fees.
Now all transactions in Middle East I just use my AMEX, with 5X TPs, sure get it.

Then the only reason for not getting CB must be the MCC code not ngam.
BTW, did WISE TnC mention overseas transactions in selected category also can get CB ??  hmm.gif

I asked them directly and they said yes.

So logic too on the losing of CB for previous month which HLB purposely drag and post it late. Thats cruel
*
That's why it called WISE. If you are thinking that you are wise enough to get all the rm100, they are even wiser to look for ways not to give you rm100.
My case(doing groceries transaction oversea) still pending and latest they said they need me to do another transaction then only can know the MCC code where the merchant already enjoying my money.

I don't think so.  tongue.gif  With all contributing foremer and their knowledge regarding this card exchanging info from V1 onwards. I'm sure we have brought down HLB to its knee! What for i'm thinking i'm wise enough to get RM100. What if i won't have the chance to get RM100, that is the regret.
*
Well, WISE is a kampung hero, this is the fact I will let everybody knows.

anyone know if eu yan sang is under category groceries or not? Thanks!
*
You can always swipe once to know.
Or to be safe, get MBB dual cards and use the AMEX during weekend, then you will get 5%. Still AMEX is not widely accepted.
As far as possible, I won't buy at eu yan sang, the herbs are low quality stuffs actually.

*
This is their SOP, no need to bother too much.
Like I'm buying groceries in Middle East that does not sells pork and alcohol, they are trying to tell me that supermarket is using the MCC code that are selling groceries with alcohol and pork(different code) and refuse my cash back.

Until now you butthurt the same thing =) already know that MCC not under their control. Dunno what magic you expect the bank to do, fly there and tell the supermarket that they need to change MCC code?
*
Is this butthurt?
I just want to raise people's awareness on how good this WISE is on not giving cash back.
Till today the HLB officers are still driving me rounding the garden and they can't tell me the MCC.
Is asking a MCC too much when I have doubts?

QUOTE(Wongchoy @ Aug 12 2014, 12:03 PM)
In Malaysia & Singapore there are really few merchant on MCC 5422 if not nonexistance. To strike this MCC 5422 jackpot in mid east is even rarer! You better stick to Mbb2.
*
Yes, now stick to MBB, not getting cash backs but still got 5X TPs. And I no need to swipe rm50 per transaction also.

Your circumstances are so specific to you, purchasing groceries overseas. You already know the specific reason yet not happy with it because of your expectations. Unreasonably, as some of us have tried to explain to you.

Blaming HLB is butthurt because there's nothing they can do in your case. No control over the MCC (this is true even locally). Likely CS can't tell you MCC directly because its overseas transaction, and they don't deal with that very often. What you expect from them?

Now, for the forumer whose name not included, that one can complain about HLB. Their ridiculous "CB more than one month after spending", can blame. Your case however, I don't see anything to blame HLB.
*
For sure a bank has no control on merchant applied for what MCC, but when they are filing the claim, it is stated already.
What I "butthurt"(if this can make you fell happy as keyboard warrior) is, they can't tell me which MCC they used. Logic or not?
Even their T&C stated oversea transaction are valid for cash back, when the MCC matches. But in this case, they don't know the MCC and directly rejected the cash back?
If HLB in the first place stated clearly that WISE is a kampung hero card that can only be used in Malaysia, I won't use it at all and use my AMEX only.
Does my case specific to me only? Again, to you as a keyboard warrior that only dare to hide in Malaysia, yes. But for me or other people that will be visiting or working overseas, this serves a good reminder on the limitation of WISE.

Is your case general to most of their customer base? Expect CS to know everything, including question like this which probably they at most encounter once a month?

You take your case and act as if applies generally to WISE. Everyone got whatever complaint you just say "yeah, WISE suck because of my experience", even when their problem totally different. Your intention is to 'good reminder' or just lepas stim?
*
Depending on how you see it.
If the CS officer don't know everything of their product, then better resign, unless they are paid to don't know and bring the customer rounding the garden then it is different story.
If the CS are so good, then I'm sure nobody will state it here. But this does not happens, every now and then sure will have a new card user have problem.
You can sweep this under the carpet, but a fact(WISE always find a way not to honor what they promised) is a fact. You may able to deny this fact in cyber world as a keyboard warrior, but the fact in reality world state otherwise.

Your 'fact' is your own assumption only. You assume WISE intentionally don't want to honor their promise. They promised cashback for groceries even overseas. The reasons for non-fulfilment have already been explained to you but you not happy. So you assume they 'find way' to cheat you. Mana your facts?

You can say "in my case I did not get cashback" as a fact, and even "WISE CS is sucky" (an opinion, but no problem). But 'WISE cheat me' is not a fact, nor is 'WISE looking for way to not honor what they have promise'.
*
What have you guys explained to me till now? Nothing but trying to protect something which shall not be protected.
Again, what I want is the CS to provide me the MCC, is it really that hard? I doubt so. Only people that are ignorant and trying to cheat will try to give all sort of excuse.

Hmmm... I am not in the banking industry, but just wandering the difficulties of providing MCC.
Hmm... maybe can try to call see if Maybank, Citibank or others provide MCC to customers as well. If other bank can and helpfully provide MCC code to their customer then it is valid to complaint that HL CS is lousy, else the banking industry standard is just how it is  whistling.gif
*
Maybank on the spot can tell me, as long as the transaction done and posted.
Each MCC having different service charges by bank to merchant, so it is stupid if a merchant does not register the right MCC.

i've tried local grocery, Jaya Grocer. Called HLB roughly 30mins after swipe, they gave me the MCC immediately.

overseas merchants, no idea.
*
I think I've went to a stone age country, that's why HLB can't tell me the MCC. But their credit card system required to enter pin for each transaction which is more advance than us, in terms of security.
Or HLB trying to cheat me on this.

Already sent msg via HL Connect. Most probably gonna receive reply like "their MCC code is not under dining bla bla bla". Also, I swiped at Brussels Beer Cafe and felt a bit regret after swiping, but to my amazement CS said it was under dining. But when the statement came it does not fall under dining category. I saw it coming though.
*
Now you are in the same boat with me, hahaha.
Their CS are useless most of the time and will give all sort of excuse.
If not because of that 10% CB, I cut that card already vmad.gif
So after my oversea assignment finishes, I think my Maxis account will be -rm1000-2000 rclxub.gif

Nope. But I have asked in the message. Will update here later. My best guess is 5813.
Most of my dining transactions are usually around RM20-RM70. I usually swipe within these amount because I am sure to hit 10 times RM50 with TNB and Mobile transactions. So far for the first few months all my dining transactions were all recognized as dining. Only then this sort of nonsense appeared out of nowhere and hit me hard in the face. Caused my effective cash back to be lesser each month. doh.gif

I might switch to petrol next time, so far utilities and mobile all no problem. For this month I am still hesitate to swipe my Wise card at any dining outlet. Scared already. sweat.gif
*
Yup, that's the problem on WISE, once you hit by such problem, you will wonder.
This reminds me on that keyboard warrior that keep on protecting the HLB's staffs.
I choose groceries, petro, so when I'm in overseas, I'll just do advance payment for my Maxis.

Out of curiosity, what's the first? I also asked this question before I rmbr  sweat.gif

Again, you got it wrong, I never said HLB comes out with story, they come out with excuse.

Update:

This is the reply from HLB CS:

Cash back will be awarded based on merchant’s corresponding Merchant Category Code (MCC) or the Merchant’s Description assigned on the chosen categories. The assignment of merchant category or merchant description for each merchant is subject to classification by respective acquiring banks or the merchant banker. The assignment of Merchant Category for each merchant is subject to classification by the respective acquiring banks and it is the responsibility of the particular acquiring bank to assign the correct Merchant Category. HLB shall not be held responsible for any incorrect assignment of the Merchant Category that may result in non-posting of the Cash-Back for retail transactions at the eligible merchants. The Cardholder shall not be entitled to claim for any compensation against HLB for such non-posting of the Cash-Back due to incorrect assignment of the Merchant Category by the respective merchant’s acquiring bank.

Thank you for banking with us. We look forward to serving you again.

Not really answering my question doh.gif
*
Seems like your question is : Why I can't get the cash back even I swipe at XX place?
Next time directly ask them what is the MCC.
Guess HLB officer like to go off topic and trying to bring you round the garden.
