guys, planning to get a second hand savvy.

1. 1.2L (A) 2006
2. Mileage around 70k
3. Price RM8.7k

Is it worth the buy, or should I consider a wira instead?

Never driven a savvy before, scared many problems in and out after purchasing the car.
*
AMT ar? Prepare to pay a bomb to repair gebox lar. 2006 also subject to weaken spindle, tayar can cabut anytime. To replace spindle to GaGa(thicker and stronger) spindle will cost u another bomb, roughly RM800~RM1k. Might as well save up to about 10k and get facelift version(post 2008). Atleast less hassle lar.

AMT = Automated Manual Transmission

You can choose to let the system handle the gears by itself, or you can switch to manual mode, like tiptronic +/- gear.

davidke20, do you have any experience using the flx spring? the flx spring is going to be 50~80% stiffer that the standard savvy spring. I'm using a BLM rear spring only and it has 11mm wire diameter compared to 10mm and sits about 1cm higher
*
My GaGa BLM is using the FLX spling, hence the BLM spling goes into my Shawie. Frankly, I think I rike the softer spling coz ayam not so marj into lowering/harsh ride person. Handling wise, I have 3MAX Anti Roll Bar at the back from Mahihi, 16mm is sufficient for my kind of appetite. Front currently running on ATR K-Sport from nestum, rear running on HiFly HF201, FC is freaking awesome running on average 15km/litre. Dry grip is like heaven! Cut konar like slice a water melon. However, trade off is wet grip rike shiete. Can't drive more than 80kph on rainny days, or the car will GLIDE yawn.gif

Basically the car planted on the ground, very little bodyroll. Both rear wheels remain all time upright, hence tyre to surface contact improved a lot. Plobrem is, as and when tyre traction all used up, the car will spiral into irrecoverable spin. Had that twice while testing my cornering limit. doh.gif No more testing whistling.gif

QUOTE(e-lite @ Apr 7 2014, 10:21 PM)
i also have a set of atr k-sports but only run during track/special events. i refuse to run anti roll bars because it's too twitchy for me in the rainy weather. that's just a personal preference and nothing against 3max or anti roll bars cause I have had good experiences with 3max and anti roll bars in the past.

i'll have to tear my brake system apart again to troubleshoot due to spongy and poor brake feel again. i think it's the master cylinder or proportioning valve acting up.

*
Twitchy at the back is because of the way we drive I'd say. I know it because every car before I upgrade from stock or install anti roll bar will have no trouble and quite safe, until the post upgrade event, I tend to spun atleast once each car cause I don't know my limit until I hit the limit whistling.gif Sometimes I had it twice doh.gif After I stopped testing for limit, no more twitching anymore laugh.gif But it's ok, as you said it's personal preference. So, what's your preference regarding the springs and abs set? I have not plan for anything other than stock or swaps from other made/model. For such a light weight car, I really don't want to have more bump steer/roll steer, considering the ATR K Sport is much thinner tyres and running on soft springs.

My next move, probably gonna inject 75W90 LSD oil into the front abs hmm.gif May not consider to change spring at all though, considering my daily ride has many uneven terrain hmm.gif

Great 1... notworthy.gif understand more about the car.

You can still buy pre-facelift version, provided if the car has sent for Plotong recall to make that spindle stronger. If not, make sure you press the selling price kao kao to squeeze out around RM1000 to replace spindle, brake hub, bearings. Usually price difference between facelift and pre is around 2000. If you offset the different of year make, the difference is only about 1000. For me, buying the older version of Shawie will be better because I get a big discount, I can repair the car by myself with that discounted price. Atleast I know what has been repaired and certainly not worry about the mind fucked depreciation of Shawie. Believe me if you buy a 2nd hand 2008 Shawie at price of RM10k, your insurance company will force you to insured RM15k doh.gif When you crash your car, then the insurance company say OH NO, I cant pay you full 15k because the current market value is only 8k whistling.gif

FYI, NOX is selling his pre-facelift shawie for a reasonable price. It's the pre-facelift model, but I believe it's a safe buy because you'll know what kinda repair expected. thumbup.gif

want to learn racing, try go cart. same linear response like savvy
*
Agreed, but disagree on the linear response part. Gokarting is much harder to get the juice out of it. However, if you're only playing with it instead of attacking track record then it's fine. The problem is, if 1 really put hardwork on gokart, afterwards when riding back home that time the real car that 1 is driving on the road become too insensitive, understeer and too forgiving on every aspect doh.gif

Bugger picked a rainny day, right after I went through toll booth to collect my entry card, then it decided to die there and then. I had to wet myself and probably collected a pail of rain water under my seat before I managed to dismantle the door panel and short circuit the wire to wind my window up! doh.gif
