i always recommend ppl to go monash as it is a prestigious school.. however we have to face reality, whether you're able to make that tuition fees back.. in the long term it is definitely worth it.. you will be part of an elite group of ppl in msia but if you have to take a loan or it is a huge burden for your parents then better not

4 of my family members including me grad from monash msia.. i am in sg, my sis is in sydney and 2 cousins are doing extremely well as their own bosses.. non from food sc though.. my dad did food tech like 30 years ago? that time not many highly qualified ppl so he did well in mnc... these days i dont know

for engineering or business or med or pharma it is not a prob... those fields pays well in msia... food sc? i dont think so... what's your results anyway? i might be able to recommend another option..

Was it easy for your sister to find work in Australia using Monash Malaysia degree? Was she treated like Monash Australia graduates or less since she is from Malaysia?

I'm curious about this as well. Last time when I attended interviews, the interviewers always ask me if I was from Australian or Malaysian campus.

Class of 2008, Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Biotechnology graduate alumni here by the way icon_rolleyes.gif

Dear Monashians or anyone in this thread:

1. While my first year in Monash is coming to an end, I need to pick two majors (I am a business school student): the first choice is Econometrics and Business Statistics (which is 100% confirmed), and as for my second major, I'm still
struggling between Finance and Marketing major. I know that both of these majors are well-combined with Econometrics and Business Statistics, but I'm like totally stuck between these two 'cause I am interested in marketing and
finance. Can anyone give me more insights for these two majors?

2. I'm planning to go on a intercampus exchange during my year 2 second sem, which is next year July onwards. However, I still need to decide between Clayton and Caulfield campus. One of my classmates said that Clayton is better
than Caulfield in terms of teaching quality and standards and its more university-like atmosphere, while studying in Caulfield can gain ez access to the city. I dunno man, anyone who has done the intercampus exchange program
before would mind giving me any advice?

I got a 2 bedroom unit in Golden Sands Residence in Johor Bahru (right across Monash University Johor) for rental. The current tenant are 2 Monash University students who will be leaving send of Nov '17. I'm the owner of the unit not any property agent. Interested students please email me at croft_st@yahoo.com or PM me for more information. Thanks!

Is your course offered in both campuses? Of course Clayton would be better in terms of university life being the main campus.

I recently applied with two choices in my applications form.

1. Bachelor of Software Engineering (Honours)
2. Bachelor of Computer Science

I got offered Bachelor of Software Engineering (Honours) but I'm still undecided about whether I should go for BCS instead.

Can anyone else comment on the quality of either courses?

Hi, I am planning to apply for Master in International Business in Malaysia campus. Can anyone share with me on their experience in this course? How is the lecture being conducted, approximately how many students enroll in this course and etc ? If I am going for credit exemption from my previous studies, do I need to take other subjects or less subjects ?

Hi guys!!

I have just finished my 1st year of business degree and I have just received my results:

CGPA: 2.125 (Australian), 2.925 (Malaysian)
WAM: 67.444

Here are my questions in mind:
1. Do Malaysian employers look at the Malaysian or Australian CGPA?
2. Are my results considered too average or slightly above average?
3. I'm planning to take finance and Econometrics as my majors, is it too risky as it might drag down my grades?

If i take Bachelor of Business and Commerce at Malaysia campus and wish to transfer to australia campus in the second year and final year, what are the requirements? Is there a quota or it is approved so long as you meet the results requirements. Is this results requirement pre-determined?

Historically, how many % of the students transfer to australia?

Hey, guys. Am interested in taking Bachelor of Computer Science for my undergraduate in Monash, Malaysia. Would like to know whether someone who is currently taking the degree could tell me about your overall experience in the university?
Eg. What are the lecturers like? Are the facilities proper? What is the overall study environment like in class? Is the course hard? If so, which subject?

If you would prefer, we could pm as well.
Thanks a lot in advance. icon_rolleyes.gif

What are the lecturers like?
Decent enough.

Are the facilities proper?
A laptop and some small IoT device is all that you need for a CS degree.

What is the overall study environment like in class?
Hell week comes at week8-12.
Overall pretty laidback to be honest.

Is the course hard? If so, which subject?
Hard is a matter of person.
Some would prefer theory over pratical and so on.
But with the failing rate of >60% I would say
-Theory of Computation
-Algorithm and Advance Data Structure.
-Computer Architecture.

These fews are those that has been rated as "extremely hard"

Hi everyone,

I've just been offered a place in the October intake and I've been offered the Monash High Achiever Award (yay!). I was originally planning to accept the award together with PTPTN as I'm having some financial issues right now when I read in the T&C that I may not be able to apply for the PTPTN if I accept the award.

Has anyone here been able to apply for the PTPTN together with the grant? Can you share your experience? Thanks in advance! biggrin.gif

Thanks a lot for your reply!
I looked through the particular subjects you mentioned but I can't find Computer Architecture in the course structure from Monash Malaysia official website. Not sure if it's because they redirected me to the Australian course. Or is the Malaysian campus having the same course structure as the Australian campus?
Moreover, what about CS-related clubs? How are they like?
Also, do you guys need to go for internship during your final year or sth? If internships are required, do you need to travel far (from Subang that is) for it?

Again, thanks again for taking the time to reply. biggrin.gif

Computer Architecture is a non-core subject hence the course structure might not show it.
We both share the same course structure, just the time of offering is different, Australia might have it during semester 1 while us on semester 2 and following.
Our papers are send over to Australia to be graded, so its fine in terms of quality.

Internships is not required in my course code, not sure about the syllabus now but generally Monash don't really do internship, I did my internship myself though.
CS-related clubs? I bet you wouldn't want that kind of clubs, is boring as hell.
