my current set up already no use air cleaner box but using the uma max flow air filter... even riding in heaviest rain so far never give any problem now. but last week so geram saw my bike too dirty, I went to a car wash shop and the pakistanese there I don't know how he pancuted high pressure water and got water tembus my air filter and straight went to my local carb. intake cry.gif I need to drained the petrol + water from the carb. only then can rempit back sad.gif

Estimate what is the amount needed for overhauling and part replacement?
If the bike in good condition, I think no need to do the overhauling, rite?

for reference only. depends on you mechanic pricing

-new block+piston+labour= RM1060
-conrod FZ+labour = RM255
-gasket= RM38
-Clutch plate = RM80
-engine bearing C3 x3pcs = RM130
-carb UMA VR28 = RM413

some say its better to straight go for overhaul after buying 2nd hand bike, but i would say you wanna ride your bike for some time to get the feeling

pakai jer ..... sampai need to do overhaul .... pakai lube bagus sikit ..... masuk 1L jer terus .....

non clutch problem perlu jaga ... one way bearing dekat auto clutch sana .... auto clutch housing , clutch plate ... due to the bike is 2nd , i assume the kedai wont go tukar all new for you .... last last is connecting rod & cylinder ....

btw , mody part sekarang not cheap now , remain std i can rekomen nod.gif

and also I wanna know when is the right time to change eo.. like every 2k km or every 3k km etc.. before this i change every 1k km.

For me, i'm using Motul 3100 EO and change every 2k km.
For spark plug, i dont know much as i never change spark plug before. Using the original until now.

Spark plug:
Stick to what is recommended by Yamaha for longevity. Any changes to the combustion and you might need to re-tune your bike, since the LC135 is a carbie you can't fine tune it like a FI bike.

Engine oil:
Again check your manual, for my LC V1 Yamaha recommends changing the engine oil every 6000KM. You may change earlier if you want to be extra careful.
The LC135 is very forgiving in term of type of engine oil that should be used. Yamaha recommends a SAE 20W-40 API SF or higher type of engine oil. Most engine oil in market nowadays should exceed this, so it comes down to your budget. Just go with Shell Advance AX5 15w-40 API SL if you're so concerned, you cant go wrong with Shell.

spark plug for me ur bike still new no need to change, i myself change the spark plug after 5 years mileage 40k KM.whistling.gif doh.gif doh.gif but in the manual tell to change every 1 year.

for EO i using liqui moly semi-synth RM40. change every 3000km or 3 months. but in the manual tell change every 6k KM.

just want to share my experience after riding for about 9,000 km my mod. lc166. got 2 problems and now everything is fine already.

1st occurred at around 67k km which the engine got metal noise and solved by replacing to manual timing chain tensioner.

2nd occurred around 70k km. ever since the 1st eo change after mod., I found out that the old eo always look different than before and got higher amount of 'serbuk besi'... and I change eo really frequent at the early stage like below 1.5k km already changed new eo. the pomen said 'mmg motor modi macam ni, block baru so banyak serbuk besi'.

my lc also run hotter than before and I thought 'mmg motor modi panas macam ni' hmm.gif the old eo color not very milky-look pon, just xhitam sgt... then the engine starts to bunyi chiff-chiff or hish-hish something like that but they said is normal nothing to worry about. finally my lc susah giler nak start, he said valve bocor. kena service top set, gasket head terbakor sebab terlalu panas but lampu merah xpernah menyala pon cry.gif coolant tinggal sikit sebab masuk kat kebuk pembakaran kuor asap putih kat ekzos. gitulah my 1st 9k km experience riding my lc166.

Found any difference in term of power/ acceleration after changing the spark plug? Some say old and worn out spark plug affect bike perfomance

didn't change the timing chain because it wasn't in the 'upgrade package'. the pomen said the original timing chain tensioner should still able to withstand the power of 60mm block.

my friend upg. to 57mm original Yamaha FZ block also kena last week, rantai kecik bunyi and already changed to manual timing chain. his lc also got tappet noise and upon checking found out the radiator got leaks, coolant almost gone including in the coolant reservoir tank. gone his RM400 for a new radiator plus other services but still got other engine noise sad.gif the pomen said, prepare RM800 because he suspected the noise come from rod or maybe water pump rosak hmm.gif
