I scanned the specs for Asus Zen phone 4 copied it from NDTV Gadgets :

Asus ZenFone 4 sports a 4-inch WVGA (800 x 480 pixel) resolution display supported by a dual-core 1.2GHz Intel Atom Z2520 processor with Quad-Thread Hyper-Threading Technology and 1GB of RAM. The smartphone also features a 5-megapixel rear and 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera optics. The internal storage is not mentioned by the firm but it can be expanded up to 64GB via microSD card.

All is very similar to Nokia X . Except it has 1GB of ram and Nokia X has only 512mb. Intel Hyperthreading on desktop means the system sees a Quad core processor although it is in fact only a Dual Core Processor.

To summerize :

1. Nokia X : 512MB ram ; AZ4 : 1GB ram
2. Nokia X : Dual Sim ; AZ 4 : Single sim
3. Nokia X : Running Android ASOP . Dont support Play Store and Google Services Out of the box.
AZ4 : Running ZenUI skin on top of Android 4.3 Jelly Bean , upgradeable to Android 4.4 KitKat. Support
all google services out of the box.

Price both around RM350 .

Being a ex owner of Nokia X myself . Choose wisely sweat.gif

I can see less ram is a litle bit prob here but its ok cause i need a phone for light use..whatapp/FBing (hve multiple account, u know what i mean). dual sim is a definite for me so i'll choose dual sim phone. plus i get board wid typical os n didnt worry much on gapps. can be installed later.

i'll have zenfone for work but my nokia x is for fun (no big deal if wanna use for main phone actually but hve to tweak more). up to u anyway

1. Ensure that your device is rooted and install Google Apps on your phone:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2665401
10. Reboot your phone and V6 Supercharger should be installed and works properly.  Note that V6 Supercharger script may cause problems (such as device freezes) and it might be wise to perform a backup of your phone's content.  You can also use the 'Unsupercharge me' option on the Supercharger script to revert everything back.  icon_idea.gif

im still workin' on it coz i keep repeat this step but i'll update later. really wanna install it n hope it'll be no freeze or anythin

For Nokia X, the battery life for web browsing is way too bad for me to even consider this product, especially in light of the competitions. Better luck next time, Nokia.

In Malaysia, The Asus Zenfone 4 is dual sim too, and it has 8 GB of internal storage. Asus Zenfone 4 is priced at RM299 while Nokia X is priced at RM399. It is a tough choice to choose between this two. sad.gif rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

For me, I will go Zenphone because

1) With Google Android. I will have everything I need waiting for me once I sign in - Chrome ,Contacts & Maps are what I use most. Say whatever you want but Play Store has become Essential . The 1Mobile Store that Nokia X comes with? I have only install a few mainstream apps like Whatsapp, Chrome, MX player only & the notifications start poping up for "Install Antivirus?" , "Video Ah Moi Hangat" , its full of adware .

Yes, I know I can Hack it and install custom rom and stuff but I am just a normal user. Not a techie. I dont want to do all that just to get what I wanted when there is a cheaper and straight forward way out there.

2) Single button usage. There is only 1 Back button on the Nokia X . While Nokia is trying to differentiate itself from Google, it makes it quite inconvenient too to navigate the phone. One more thing , there is no Application Manager on the phone. "Fastlane" , a feature Nokia touted to let you use the phone more efficiently , acts like an app manager but it does not kill apps. You have to go to 1mobile store to find an application manager or task killer .

3) For android , more RAM means better performance , ZP4 Doubles the RAM of Nokia X, so the performance should be better. I will try to get my hands on a ZP 4 to try it out. I already know Nokia X handles very sluggishly on 10.1.1. With the new 11.1.1, hopefully it will handle better. How much better ? I am not going to spend another RM350 to find out .

4)Price , RM299 vs RM399 . A difference of RM100 , thats a few KFC Dinner Plates right there.

You can always get the Nokia X first if you "Die die want to try new things".If you dont like it, Trade it off and get the Zen. I understand the urge to try Nokias new toy , while Google android has been on the phones that you use for a long time.

Personally most people picked the Nokia mainly because of:

1. Build quality (most Nokias have been indestructible, maybe not those high-end Lumias though)
2. Software optimization... The stock Nokia firmware is very fast, and it's very nice to work with.
3. Compelling software... Nokia Here alone is a major deciding factor for me, mainly the fact that it has the ability to use offline navigation... MixRadio is pretty neat as well, though since I'm a Spotify premium user, I feel that Mixradio is a bit redundant for me. tongue.gif

Also, I think you get it wrong somewhere:

Correct, but without software optimization, more RAM wouldn't do much... tongue.gif
More RAM=! Better performance: http://www.linuxatemyram.com/

Not to mention the track record of ASUS updates... (with the exception of Nexus tablets)... They aren't as good as before... sad.gif

You do not need to use task killers starting from 4.0... Here's why:
This is a big misconception for most Android users... shakehead.gif

More free RAM=wasted RAM. It's a known fact on Linux-based operating systems... (I'm a long time Ubuntu user BTW, recently switched to Linux Mint), so I'm pretty well-versed on that. tongue.gif

I have made a comparison chart in attachment for Nokia X and Asus Zenfone 4.
Overall, Zenfone physical spec mostly better than Nokia X.
Nokia X only better than Zenfone 4 in side of Battery capacity and support FM Radio.

Thanks chocobo7779 for clearing things up a bit. I will try to get my hands on a ZenPhone 4 to get a real world prospective of the performance when it comes out.

The Asus zenfone 4 is totally a serious competitor to the Nokia X. It is undeniable that the specs of zenfone 4 is better than Nokia X. But most importantly zenfone 4 is cheaper than Nokia X by RM100. However as a Nokia device, the Nokia X has two premium apps which are Here Maps and Nokia MixRadio. Nokia X has an integrated GPS receiver and the Here Maps app offers free, life time voice guided-navigation and OFFLINE navigation which is something google maps doesn't provide. MixRadio is also an excellent service provided by nokia. You can even save music playlist for offline listening. Does these two premium apps have the ability to justify the RM100 difference between Nokia X and Asus Zenfone 4? What do you guys think? For those who own Nokia X, please share out your experience with Here Maps and MixRadio.
