Hi guys, I am new to this as well. I have a question. Currently I have 1 car with me and I planned to get a new car.

Is it possible to transfer the old car NCD to the new car and the old car gets a new NCB but both car is under my name?

Sure can.

Transfer the current NCD to the new car.

Continue your OLD car insurance coverage with 0 NCD and pay the differences.

But is it okay to have both under my name even though both car is still under loan? The old car's loan will be paid by my sister though.

Still under loan then you can't really buy the insurance under your sister name.

Good news is you will have two NCD lo... and one is not paid by you.

Bad news is your sister will have none...

Oh it works like that? Hmm but if I include my sis name in the insurance list, if accident happens can my sis still claims the insurance?

Normally you can name two persons as drivers for a car for free. More than that additional cost but minimal

Yea, I can't buy the insurance with my sister's name since the old car is still in loan so I guess I have to name her as one of the drivers just in case *touch wood* accident happens and she can claim the insurance.

Is it worth it to transfer the NCD to a new car I bought secondhand?

Does not matter what car... most important is which car isurance is more expensive before the NCD added in. And which car still need to pay comprehensive insurance. If more than 10yrs old, and the car is worth less than 15k. You can opt for 3rd party insurance.

The new car has to be under her name to allow NCD transfer. This also means the bank loan must be in her name.

Just read through all the posted.

Would like to confirm, if sold the current car and get NCD entitlement letter, and I can hold it for my new car right even though new car only come after few months

Noted that pro rate will be refund, how is it calculation ??

Insurance paid = RM1,200.00
Duration = 25 Dec 2017 ~ 24 Dec 2018
Car sold = Jul 2018
NCD = 45%

Refund will be RM1200 / 12 = 100 * 4 = RM400 ??

hi guys, i planned to buy new car but planned to retain the existing old car which with 55%
55% NCD of old car will transfer to new car. May i know the procedures by doing so?

Does the old car required to purchase new insurance @ 0% NCD in the first place before purchase the new car?
Which it may allowing the insurance company to identify there is "inactive" 55% NCD in order to transfer into new car.

If you transfer ncd to your new car your old car will need to top up premium based on 0% ncd for the balance of insurance period.

Did this recently

it is simple procedure
all insurance company have the standardize procedure

it is basically informing your old car insurance that you want to transfer your NCD
they will calculate the left over months of your insurance, these left over (let say 6 months more) will be recalculate to be 0% NCD
so you just top up the cost, usually continuing the old insurance company

then the company will do the procedure, informing you the NCD is no longer linked to the old car
you just tell the new car SA your NCD can be transfered already
they will do the process

as the SA able to check your profile to see your NCD is not linked to any car
and the will just registered the new car to your profile

ask your SA and your old car insurance what can be provided to confirm the NCD transfered out already
some said official letter, but in this days, eletronically, all data is pool to one source

once old insurance done with the process
new car can get your data and registered the new car

noted. thanks bro. smile.gif

guess insurance company should not able to do top up from online payment transfer or phone call?
should walk-in into their company for the top up as to create new NCD for old car?

Its a procedure though normal, but not everyday ones
better to be there to get it right

technically not create new NCD
more like buying insurance with no discount
and after the fixed period, the company forced to give you fixed discount until you maxed out @ 55

though you can have as many car to build up that discount
you need to continue getting insurance to hold on to the NCD[
