for expired insurance, the ncd still valid up to 1 yr. thereafter every year will deduct 1 tier just like how you built up your ncd from 0 to 55% every year.

ncd is transferable. if you own an old car and buying a new car but still keeping the old, you can transfer your ncd from old car to new car.

just call your insurer about cancelling ncd on the old one. you will be required to top up the amount for the remaining period without ncd for the old car. once you've done that they will give you a letter. with that letter you can walk-in to any new insurer for your new car with ncd.

Ownership will transfer to your name.

NCD stays with your mum. You need to start NCD from 0% and wait 5 years without claiming.

Hi, notice the post reply was like 7 years ago, is there any changes so far?

Say if I were to sold my car Jan 2021, and my Insurance expire at April 2021,

Outcome A:-
Does that means I have until 2022 April to transfer my insurance of the sold car to new car with NCD 55%?
Then if I were to get a new car with Insurance at 2022 May I will get my NCD at maybe 45%?

Outcome B:-
Or I have untill 2022 Jan to transfer the NCD 55% to my new car
and if I get new car transferred with Insurance at 2022 Feb then I may get my NCD at 45%?

Can anyone confirm that it is outcome A?

If you sell your car in Jan 2021, insurance will expire there and then. You have 12 months (Dec 2021/Jan 2022) to buy a new car to maintain the 55%, else it will drop to 45%

HI I currently own a saga with 55% NCD. im going to buy new car soon said May 2022. So i will transfer the 55% NCD from old saga to new car in May 22, and the new car will enjoy the 55% NCD. so my question is how about the old saga insurance?

old saga insurance insurance will be expired in Nov 22. do i require to pay additional premium bcz i have transferred the 55% NCD to new car?
if so how the additional premium calculated? based on May 22 to Nov 22 rate without any NCD right?

how if i decide to sell my old saga shortly after i got the new car? what would i need to do in regard to the old saga insurance?

you got it spot on

think of it as like this

your car need roadtax to be driven on the road
roadtax need valid insurance to be covering the car

and insurance need you to pay the premium in order to cover your car

so when you take out the NCD/NCB
from that time on, insurance will disregard any discount given
and the leftover coverage premium will be recalculate to the precise day to your Nov '22

last year Nov till May '22 is at a discount because during that time you enjoy the discount, becos... you didnt claim anything

how they calculate, i presume, very precisely

if let say Premium is RM365 and you transferred out with 100 days left
that means, that 100days = RM100 (@55% disc)

at no disc = RM222.22, so minus 100
you need to top up another RM122.22
(this is simplified calculation, might not include SST/GST/ST/VAT

as for selling
the insurance will also reimburse accordingly

Hi guys need some help

I going to sell my old car(ncd 55%) and buy a new car.

The SA told me to cancel my old car insurance and get refund.
And pay full premium to the new car around RM1800 (ncd bring to new car).

So in the end i can get back around RM1800-55%=RM810 of ncd refund is it correct?

Thanks

You should ask your sales advisor for black and white to avoid confusion. I would think the sum RM1800 already factored in the 55% discounts. Why? I remembered when I first bought my car for RM70k, even when I transferred my NCD, the amount that I paid was around 1.5k. Unless you are buying a MYVI, I dont see how your insurance premium would be lower than RM1k after 55% NCD.

The refund from the old car is for the unused premium. Say your roadtax expiry is 20June2023 (insurance and roadtax have same expiry date), then you can claim pro-rated charges for the balance of the unused premium from the old car.

Hi guys, I need some help on my current situation.

I'm having a car at the moment & my company already decided to provide a car for me.
So, let say I want to sell off my car but I want to preserve my NCD for future 2nd car in 5 yrs time, what is the possible way to do it?
