May I know how often do y'all replace ATF? I replaced mine and the workshop sticker stated next replacement will be after another 100,000 km. Is this normal for City's 5AT? I remember CVT need more frequent CVT oil replacement.
*
Honda recommended ATF replacement is every 60,000km.

I however, recommends replacing it every 20,000km.

This is because, the correct procedure to replace the ATF at 60,000km is to perform 3 times drain and fill but most of us or even the SC don't do that.

Thus, the best way to is replace it once every 20,000km each time.

Any owners hear felt that their front driver and passenger plastic door panel is a bit on the soft side?

When you put your arm and rest on it, there's nyeknyeknyek sound which is quite annoying?

Mine do have intermittent 'tak tak' sound coming from the cooling coil which is under the glove box.

The sound is not loud and I've learned to live with it.

Sometimes it could be a rattling from the things you keep in the glove box.
*
Unlikely because I know there's nothing moving in the glovebox. The sound will come out occasionally during idle at traffic light. biggrin.gif

car insurance not much different after every year, after 9 years?
i just tried to quote for my 10th year insurance.

its the same with my 9th year last year biggrin.gif
*
How much you're paying for this year and the sum insured?

I will be renewing mine in another week. Will be taking Etiqa comprehensive coverage and confirmed full insurance payment value @ RM30k.

I think the insurance payment came up to around RM490 excluding windscreen coverage.

I tried takaful malaysia. Coverage lowest 26k. About rm430. Same as last year.

Used to be with etiqa. Takaful malaysia just used 2 years back, they are cheaper a little bit.

What i dont like about etiqa is because you cant generate a quote or estimate, until 1 or 2 months from your expiry. But that's not the point of consideration of not renewing through them.
*
I think most insurance companies will allow you to generate quote 2 months before expiry.

I tried to get quote earlier but was prompted the message above.

I think for cars 7 years and above, the premium sum is quite minimal. Selection will be base more on the after services like towing, ease of claims etc.

My left side mirror was not working (cannot flip) many years ago after a motobike knock on it which pushes it forward. After I forcefully flip it back, it remains in normal position but lost the ability to flip.

This morning, I am required to replaced 1 of my side mirror motor and gears as it wasn't functioning and the motor kept spinning when someone accidently knocked on the side mirror with quite a hard force yesterday.

Arrange a guy which came to my house to do the repair.. He charged RM100 for the gears and RM120 for the motor. Workmanship included. I think it is ok since a used side mirror cost RM450 and new one may cost around RM800.

Hi, anyone has experience of changing the headlight bulbs before. I'm replacing mine but after I pull out the pin and replace the bulb, I couldn't put the pin back. Does anyone know how should I put it back? Thanks.
*
I just changed my headlight bulb last Saturday. Basically you can't see the pin latch. You need to feel it, apply a little force to stretch it so that the pin can slot back into the designated latch.

The video below should be identical to a Honda City.. The video is actually a Honda Fit.. Scroll to 0.40 sec of the video.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I had similar symptom since my previous ATF oil change at neighbourhood workshop last year (somewhere in Feb 2020, before the first MCO) until it was resolved just recently. Looking at the old bottle that I still kept, I noticed that my previous ATF change was surprisingly using fake oil.

The symptom I had was a weird 'whirring' sound (which I suspected coming from the gearbox) when shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear at low RPM, often noticeable when I start moving from a standstill at the traffic light. Also, the gear shifting feels very sluggish and slightly jerky at that time.

I got this issue resolved recently, when I brought my TMO to AR Man Auto Care. They replaced the ATF oil, replaced the ATF filter and also put in 2 bottles of JV Auto Lube ATF treatment oil. No more sound now, and the gear shifting feels much smoother.  icon_rolleyes.gif

FYI, in between, I got the throttle body cleaned up and replaced one of the coil packs which had burnt, but the issue was still there.
*
To share my experience, I did encounter erratic gearshift shock which really irritates me. I was wonder whether it was due to dirty ATF fluid or whatever.

I sent to a Honda Specialist and he said try to clean the throttle body (TB) first and not replace the ATF fluid since it was replace only 8000km previously.

After cleaning the TB, reset ECU, the gearshift is a lot smoother without needing to replace ATF fluid.

I would suggest to GM2 owners to clean the TB first and see if there's improvement before replacing the ATF fluid. If still the same, then the next step will be to replace the ATF fluid.

any idea how to reset ECU our own?
*
The simplest way to reset ECU on our own is through disconnecting the battery terminal and leave it for at least 10 - 15 mins.

This should reset the ECU back to stock configuration. However, if there are certain function that needs configuration, you may need a workshop with the proper scan tool to set things back.

You want to DIY cleaning your throttle body is it?

yup,for the poor idling only around 600 rpm

I highly recommend you to let workshop to do it. Best is to take the TB assembly out and clean it thoroughly.

For me, I can hear vibrating sound coming from my dashboard and also the centre console near to the gear knob, especially when driving on uneven road. Anyone else having this symptom?
Yep, I agree. Should always try cleaning the TB first. It's very easy to DIY, if you know how to do it. The TB cleaner is also quite cheap, but I never done it myself. However, it won't cost you that much either, if doing it at any workshop. Can you suggest what's the recommended mileage to get the TB cleaned up?

Hi guys, few months ago my car AC is not cold and keep hearing air leaking sound when I press the pedal. I went to AC workshop and the boss said not enough gas and refill for me. And recently, my AC starting to not feeling cold again and the leaking sound reappears. Is it normal for the AC gas to finish in a few months?
*
Not normal. You better send to another aircond workshop to recheck.

But based on my experience, weather is kind of hot these days.. It is expected the aircond won't be as cold during these super hot weather.

Mine isn't that cold also and plan to send for aircond service.

Where are you staying btw?

Lol. I have same feeling with my aircon. But only recently need to start fetching my kid at mid day.

Thinking to service too. But any idea what's the list? Kinda reluctant to just say 'my aircon need service' to the foreman
*
I am having the same predicament as you. Wanted to service the aircond but prefer to keep the cost low.

The few things I am expecting the foreman to do is to:

1) Replace the receiver dryer;
2) Replace aircond oil;
3) Replace aircond gas;

Im hearing this receiver dryer quite frequently recently for the first time. No idea what it is. The other two are kinda like for sure. biggrin.gif
*
Based on what I know, the receiver dryer is located inside the evaporator coil at the side..

The function of this item is to absorb moisture within the aircond system. It should be replace when old as moisture inside the system will damage the AC in the long run.

Parts seems to be cheap. Not sure about labour.

I think when you bring for service, better replace it too as part of routine aircond service.
