Since u bump this thread, i would like to ask where can i buy original fuel strainer + fuel retainer for 240k km schedule maintenance? At shopee got one seller price almost similar to honda sc.
*
When it comes to fuel strainer, I suggest you better change it at SC. This is because sometimes those strainer sold online are not 100% compatible. Also, replacement at 3rd party workshop may cost around the same price as SC.

Else, I can suggest you to get it replace at Vmag motorsport. This workshop specialises it Honda especially TMO.

The guy i send to is foreman at honda SC also..he do side job at his home.. but he told got no stock of fuel strainer spare part..ask me to buy it myself..
*
Ic.. if you want to ensure 100%, better get from Honda stockist like Hingan at Jalan Pudu. You can google for other authorised Honda stockist near you.

I said that because I read from other user comments, some bought online or from independent spare parts shop. The strainer is not 100% plug and play. They need to adjust and modify in order to fit the strainer into the fuel tank.

Thanks for the advice..actually the oem price is very differ than the SC, thats make me curious too..very cheap..
*
Just buy ori from Honda stockist since you only need to change the strainer every 80,000 km once. Slight more expensive also nvm as most important is compatibility and peace of mind.

Haven't tried before but as long as its a new carbon filter, it is always a good thing to have it in your car.

You just need to make sure it is compatible with your City 2005.

From honda website table they stated there replace every 40k km..
yerp, last resort i may change it at sc, confirm original and peace of mind..
*
You are right but I felt 40k to replace fuel strainer is way too soon. The newer CITY only needs to replace them every 60k or 80k (not too sure if its 60k or 80k).

So I think changing it at 80k should be fine. For prudence, 60k is more than good enough.

Mine had its clear coat started cracking and the signal light top area became brownish. I sent to a bomba guy at Sri Hartamas where he does part time to recoat the headlamp.

Now the lamp is looking quite new and not yellowish. Quite satisfied for what I paid for.

Hi, anyone can recommend any good engine air filter for me?(Shopee or Lazada) It is safe to replace ourselves right?
*
Can can basically get those OEM air filter for Honda City TMO. Usually it comes in yellow or white for around rm25.

I've compared the quality and found that they are quite good and thick. Been using it since many years ago.

You can change the engine air filter by DIY. It is very simple and steps are available in youtube.

definitely can replace yourself. learn it up.
think of it this way. this car might not last a long time but you still have 30-40 years of driving (depends how old you are). the amount of saving and knowledge is totally worth it.

if worry about part, get from honda genuine part stockist first if need it quick. then start researching online who sell what good product.

remember you also have a cabin air filter.

for me. i am using works engineering mesh air filter. the K&N oil cleaner can still last 2-3 times maybe. so i dont need to buy and replace yearly or so.
but. i dont recommend you this over the normal one or vice versa.
*
This City TMO can really last a very long time if you take good care of it biggrin.gif

I've saw some owners posted in FB that they've basically traveled more than 600,000 km on this vehicle. Imagine the durability and reliability.

For Works air filter, technically the filtration is not as good as paper type. You might need to clean the throttle body a bit more often.

Just to survey your guys still using genuine Oil filter from Honda or other brands ?
mind to share ?
*
Best to use genuine oil filter but I am using fake Honda filter. It is quite difficult to get an original Honda filter from spare parts shops unless you go back to Honda stockist.

I suppose the fakes one can do the job too provided you're not a rev happy driver.

thanks for the input
im currently on Amsoil Signature 5w30 with Ryco 10k km oil filter
currently engine oil age near to 10k km so planning to continue using the same brand oil filter or just get a genuine oil filter from Honda stockist will serve the purpose  sweat.gif
Also Ryco filter price is double than genuine filter  doh.gif
(Ryco claim with 99.8% efficiency at 25 micron particle)
*
Honda genuine filter only cost around RM28.

If you want peace of mine, better to use genuine filter.

Guys, need advice. Can anyone determine the condition of this? Is it very old d and need replacement or can still be used for 1-2 years?
*
How many years already? Doesn't seem to be leaking but for shock absorber, it will lose it's dampening capabilities even when there's no oil leaks after a number of years.

Erm I'm not sure whether the previous owner got replace it before or not. Shock absorber usually can last how long? And will it cost a lot to replace all of them??
*
From the looks of it, it is still on the original shocks.

Normally, absorber can last for years.. but depends on the road condition too. On average, it should last between 3-5 years.

If you replace back the honda showa original shocks, it might cost around 1000.

Yes, should be around there including labour to replace all 4 pieces.

Why suddenly want to replace your shocks?

The car ride is becoming more and more rough. Even though I am driving on a straight road with not much of patches, I can feel the car is moving up and down. It is worse when I drive through those patches or road bumps, the car just feel very stiff with very very little bouncing only. cry.gif
*
Then most likely your shocks are dead and possible other suspension parts rubber mount are gone too.

Best is you bring your car to a reliable mechanic and ask them go inspect the suspension parts.

Old car, sure there will be parts that need replacements like lower arms, absorber mounting, absorber links etc.

Finally remember what I want to ask here.

All these while, i keep lurking in tyre segment without thinking to ask here.

Currently on xm2 tyres. This is my 2nd set using maybe about 2 years. First set is also xm2, before that stock goodyear.

Im comfy with its drive in rain and durability, but it can be noisy after 2 years. And comfortable wise, not too sure.

What tyres are you guys using?
Any recommendations?
Previously wanted to try yokohama bluearth es32 but unsure about its drive in rain. End up stick with xm2
*
Previously I was also using XM2 to replace the hard and noisy Goodyear Excellence tyres that came stock.

The XM2 was great for the first 1 year+. After that, it is noisy and hard as hell.

I swapped it even if there's still 50% thread life left for Continental CC6.

Ride quality improved tremendously. It is also much quieter in the cabin.

The only downside is, the grip is not as good in the wet. Also, because this tyre is classified as soft and comfy tyre, it can puncture quite easily if something hard hit the sidewall.

If you prefer soft and comfy tyre, you can opt for the CC6. However, if you want something harder and slightly better grip, you may also try to Ultracontact (UC) 6 (They have it in 185/55/16). My next set will be UC6.

I normally don't recommend users to use Michelin because to me, I feel that it is expensive and doesn't really justify it's performance. Michelin is more expensive probably because of the marketing cost they spent to promote the their tyres.

another tyre you can look into is Ecopia EP300
but the traction is rated at B , treadwear 220, temperature A
before i use UC6 and this is the tyre im using back then .

Is the UC6 tyre quiet and comfortable?

It kicks in like every 8 seconds. Or it only happens when the temperature is high? And when it cools down it won't happen very frequent?
*
It depends how cold you set your aircond.

If you turn the AC knob to the coldest, the AC compressor will have to work harder (meaning it will kick in more often).

Kicking in every 8 seconds sounds normal to me.
