Update on my problem regarding project cypher.

It seem i can install the addon tru kodi at my laptop but cant tru kodi at my minix box. Using same unifi wifi but different band. My laptop using 5ghz my box using 2.4ghz. I doubt the band is the culprit here. I really dont know what the problem here..all ok can open the link if using laptop.

yesterday i just using project cypher to watch astro supersport in HD..try jarvis 16.1

It's a long shot but try using an ethernet cable instead & on a fresh KODI install.

Think its your setting in Kodi, had the same problem then Project Chypher adv me to NOT to enable certain things, i think its the System-->Playback then........ Can't recall, but let me check later when i get back

Am surprised as I help a lady friend setup on her Minix X8, was working flawlessly

Definitely not the band cos am using 2.4ghz connected thru WiFi during the setup

Settled d. It's something wrong with my kodi. I clean install it and everything is good.

this part...

i had played it for some time...libstagefright, mediacodec - both on, both off, one on other off, switch places. i can't find an answer as to which one is best becos one setting works good for a while, then fails. one setting works good for this channel, but not the other...!

by default, both are turned on.

can anyone who knows this issue kindly share experience and comments?

googling gets u "try this, try that", no firm answers.

for experimenting a couple of things, i just installed clean on a device.

jarvis 16.0 + cypherrepo, extract the right cypher zip and f4mtester.

Still cannot lol. I lost hope already. The fact that my laptop can add and play cypher with no problem tell me that the problem must be on my minix and my smartphone setting but i dont know what that is.

Maybe use older version like Isengard, that's what I installed to my friend's Minix

Try a different KODI version using an ethernet cable. If problem still exists.. Do a full firmware flash using a PC to return the box to stock. Gets rid of possible bugs... Then using only an ethernet cable, install KODI & try it again. You could also try with XBMC for Minix.

It seem that only my laptop can open cypher because only my laptop using google dns!

But i having problem changing dns for my minix neo u1 because when I go to setting>network>wifi and try changing the dns, it require me to change the ip and gateaway also.

So what i do, I download wifi settings apps at play store and from there i can change my dns without altering the ip and gateaway and wolla.

So you guys that can play cypher, your dns is google dns or automatic? Just curious.


Edit: also the stream not smooth all the time.
if I play for example skysports 2 on my laptop and tv simultaneously, my laptop no buffering at all while tv will.always buffering. I read in their fb they suggest to install url resolver. You guys do that?

Set the DNS servers on the router level... That'll cover all devices connected to it.. The default/automatically assigned TM DNS settings is too restrictive, thanks to those in power who block this, block that.. So many have been using VPNs or alternative DNS servers such as Google DNS to bypass such restrictions. You should too.

my experience for kodi is, open or auto, dynamic or static dns does not make a difference.

stream not smooth, buffering... i have played with hardware acceleration settings and advanced settings for a long time. they work to an extent but not for all streams. the easiest ones are the on demand movies. the most difficult ones are the 1080p live sports streams.

i spent an hr last night at it again, tweaking many combinations for advanced settings - buffersize, bufferfactor, timeout. and once again, i failed to find a good combination that gives acceptable buffering. you can't watch a live game when it pauses every minute or so!

i remember using kodi on a pc and yes, it works better all round. i had always thought the generic android is the worst performer for kodi among all devices incl pc, htpc, appletv, rpi, etc. anyone who has managed to get a good setting to stream skysports 1-5/f1 hd and aztrosupersports 1-4 hd reliably on an android box, hope u can share.

meanwhile, i keep searching for reliable streams in hd for coming eurocup. last worldcup, i relied on china streams which are a lot more stable in hd but with commentary in mandarin.
