guys, for MOVIES...

if you hv androids, the best way is the app MOVIEHD, free.

it was taken off for a couple of months citing "a need to restrict new users".

it is back now. get version 1.1.0, works great - simple, reliable, up to date... easy to navigate, fast, mostly 480p-720p actual quality, can get subs. thumbup.gif

My Kodi version is Helix 14.2

I follow instruction from seo Micheal link

i have not seen MovieHD addon in Kodi, maybe there is.. or is a diff one?

The MovieHD I was referring to is not in Kodi, is a standalone android app. Version 1.1.0 works good.

I installed one apk "TV" from China. Pretty good. But the problem is it has set itself autostart when I start my Android.

Installed STARTUP apk trying to have some control on which apk should have auto start. This TV apk does not have auto start enabled in STARTUP but TV is still auto starting. What can I do?

Thanks.
*
tv2.0, this one?
http://www.tvapk.net/thread-117918-1-1.html

it's good.

it's just another apk like all the rest.

it should not auto start.

think your launcher is not functioning properly.

remove apk and see if launcher starts up properly.

then reinstall the apk.

if still no good, get help from seller.

From your name AVFan, bet that you know some apk for good concert shows. Ha. The TV I mentioned has some concert shows in there. Pretty good.
*
concerts? there are all kinds... english, chinese, opera, rock, punk types...

very personal taste... u gotta look for specific types in diff places.

i think u can find some in kodi/phoenix.

i quite like iconcerts in hd on hypptv (unifi supplied stb).

the best stuff are never free, not available on open streams.

gotta get separately for playback.

apks for androids can be found in many places.
some go out of date, some dead, etc.
need constant updates, new ones.

many have posted apks and tips in these threads:

there are other sources, of course, but may be proprietory or for members only.

on line streaming with kodi or other apps usually are heavily ripped files, so the "720p" or "1080p" is not as good as the full mkv 720/1080p ones.

still, such 720/1080 streams are very decent, good enough for most purposes.

480 is not so good. more so for tv's >40".

having said that, i am amazed with some "super hd" chinese streams - stunning on a UHD tv! tongue.gif

Anyone know any addon that can watch live badminton?
*
have not noticed any. same for ping-pong, squash and some others.

kodi is a western developed app; badminton is not popular in the west.

soccer, football, basketball, wrestling, golf - plenty.

badminton... if using android, i can only think of chinese apps like tv2.0 and hdptv - the sports channels carry live badminton and other sports - in hd - china is active in many sports and tournaments.

What addon you using for these chinese streams
*
i was not referring to kodi. kodi is a western app, limited and not so reliable asian stuff.
there are many other china (mandarin) apps that offer a lot more.
again, i am referring to androids, not windows or other devices.

QUOTE(Ngto @ Dec 19 2015, 11:42 PM)
All going down, one by one.
*
kodi is the mother of all apps worldwide - gomen wants control, corporations want profits.
everyone is watching kodi addons. so nothing good, free and in hd will last too long. laugh.gif

some of us have been using xbmc/kodi and android apps for >2 yrs now, have seen a lot.
these apps and addons come and go, get killed by somebody after a while if they are any good.
or they go paid iptv service.
the key to continuous entertainment is not to rely on one app or one addon in kodi but to have several on-going and to keep looking for updates and new ones.

which is why when someone says, "i want to replace axtro, want live sports and canto series", there is simply no viable and reliable answer, apart from underground illegit activities which we do not discuss here.

the good news is for some devices, there is always enough good stuff in kodi and other apps out there for you to catch if you follow closely enough. i do not know for other devices but androids growing so fast in mobile phones and tablets is the richest breeding ground for new apps - these can be typically use on android boxes.

lastly, the world of online streaming now is a bit like the radio in the 80's - if u were around. tongue.gif radios were popular to tune in to worldwide stations in short, medium, long waves and fm stereo. today, internet provides tv stations in color and various resolutions. like a radio, a more powerful device gets u more. like banned or jammed radio stations, some internet sites get blocked or throttled.

Another question, I'm going to subscribe maxi fibre 10mbps for my new home. Can I know 10mbps able to load android tv box nicely? Or I mean buffering better? Worried 10mbps can't buffer those movie nicely if I buy a TV box. But my lady boss don't let me subscribe unified 30mbps as she said it's expensive. Although for me it's only 30bucks different, but lady is like this. Haiz... All sifus, can comment?
*
u n yr boss need to take everything into account when comparing maxis vs unifi - dwnld, upload, quota, voice calls, iptv, all of it.

if astro iptv is a must, then maxis is only way. if not, the other factors can be impt, esp dwnld limits.

10mbps, 30 mbps... 10mbps does fine most of the time with a streaming tv box but that is assuming u stream sd and not hd stuff most of the time and nobody else is using the bandwidth in a major way. if u have 2 or more users using most of the time, 10mbps can be a drag. in addition, consider the stability of the speed. 10mbps does not mean it is stable at 10 mbps all the time. it can fluctuate a lot, depends on yr area.

List of 4k movies.. from my torrent search.. 1 movie is about 50gb. Up to date  I've never torrented more than 1080p...
*
thanks, good to know.

i just googled a bit more.

bluray 4k players just getting into the market.

seems 4k movies was just being licensed, coming out now.

of course, the tv needs to be 4k too.

at this time, there are only short 4k videos, some tv series.

i have tried a few short videos - yes, excellent pictures!

1080p comes in many shapes and forms. 8-12gb ones are usually good, some with hd audio.

bdmv are 35-40gb - these are good with hd audio. comes out excellent on a 4k tv.

i expect 4k movies to be 60-100gb to have that extra resolution and perhaps dolby atmos too.

that is state of the art, the best one can get, if you are into it! laugh.gif

warning: just like when one first watched hd 720p and then find sd terrible, once u watched the best stuff on a 4k tv, 720p seems blur, 1080p is just acceptable. pamper your eyes, they "betray" you! tongue.gif

did it work before, did it work well?

kodi sucks up memory, can be a problem for devices with gross 4gb only.

kodi does pose certain unique problems with certain devices. best to check with other users/

maybe you can get better help from other mibox users:

Nowadays, it's a grudgingly minimum 720p if I'm not particularly interested in the title.. Anything else has to be 1080p with HD Audio, preferably a Blu-ray release. My better half goes on like "So you would rather wait a couple of months to a year than to watch the movie now?" I reply, Yup!.. It's either it's watched in the cinema or get the Blu-ray. Darn over-pampered eyes and ears... No 4K for them yet, oh no..  laugh.gif
*
i reluctantly watch 720p if i do not have a choice. laugh.gif

sd - no more - be it news or movie or sports. tongue.gif

yes, i would rather wait for the best ones for blockbusters.

casual stuff, the 1080p offered on kodi and other apps are acceptable.

4k... yr time will come. probably sooner than u like. biggrin.gif

Yup, so far I've favored the Beast's setup myself. Yeah, what happens in KODI, stays within KODI and won't affect your other installed android apks in any manner. As for running multiple builds;
have u tried all the builds in areswizard?

i tried spinztv before, did not like it.

just tried beast, yes, it is much better.

it is good to use these builds as the memory used is smaller, but with already builtin addons.

actually perfect for new users, no need to crack their heads about which repo, which addon, which plugin... biggrin.gif

just a pity that iptv stalker, ivue and all that doesn't work anymore. tongue.gif

btw, i seem not to able to get much from SALTS. is there something else i need to do after installing beast? i tried SALTS addon before but can't remember if it needs registration or something else...?

Nah, I've tried like the top 7, the rest I just watch YouTube videos or check out site reviews of the builds. Gives me a feel for them & if I'd bother installing to try out. Yeah, pre-configured builds are much easier for newbies, but not all builds are lightweight. The Beast for example only recently got slimmed down, it used to be close to 1GB  shocking.gif. Personally, I didn't mind as I had more than sufficient space &  hardware to run it. Last I checked, the Ivue TV Guide and IPTV Stalker worked. I actually have a subscription with the stalker folks and successfully integrated their streams into the Ivue TV Guide. Between IPTV Stalker, Filmon, DexterTV, CCloud & I believe Sports Devils, I pretty much had a sweet setup. "Had" cuz I very recently let go of my Minix Neo X8-H Plus, so it's now back to the trusty not yet setup Nexus 10 (Holiday spirits) while I survey the market a bit. So far, I'm still strongly leaning towards picking up another Neo X8-H Plus.
Hmmm, I'll check on the SALTS addon later. Here are a few things one needs to know about SALTS. It requires careful configuration within its settings. No login required though. The SALTS addon is quite powerful and even has its own inbuilt subtitles downloader (Open Subtitles addon as backup... Registration & login required). Oh yeah, in the settings, be sure to select the option of filtering out unplayable sources after its gathered them, this way, usually all the links displayed will most likely play & one doesn't have to click multiple links for that live one. Also, have it search for playable links at least twice cuz due to the large pool of sources it has to deal with, sometimes it doesn't pick up the really nice 1080p sources of a particular origin (can't remember the exact name). Finally, manually check if you have the latest SALTS addon installed. Chris B of the Beast does a fantastic job but we are all fallible..  smile.gif
*
thanks for the elaboration.

i will check iptv stalker again, i had a taste of honey! biggrin.gif

SALTS.. yes, tricky, will dig a bit deeper.

right now, i find phoenix and ccloud most useful.

Guys, If I were to buy a Sony Android TV, do you think it is still necessary to buy an Android Box?

My main purpose it to watch Movies (mainly English) in HD with HD audio. Going to pair my TV with 5.1 surround soundbar/HiFi
*
AndroidTV is NOT = Androidtv Box

Most "Smart Android TV" comes with android features; any TV that can connect to the internet is now called "smart".

Typically, the smart tv has in house apps installed like Google Movies (you pay to watch), You tube, Google Play, music, games. In applicable countries, there will be Netflix, Hulu Plus, Amazon, etc. - paid IPTV services. When there is update, it will prompt you to update these apps. It does NOT allow to add yr own apps - unless you hack or jailbreak it, I suppose. Memory is probably limited.

That is to say, you mainly get videos on Youtube and other apps available on Google Play.

On the other hand, androidtv box is a box ready for you to put whatever apps u want, incl youtube and googleplay, of course. Majority of these box users install own and better apps via "apk"s with the usb drive.

*
netflix, hulu plus, amazon and other foreign payable iptv are not allowed here becos they only cater to some countries.

but yes, if the box seller or other seller can help you get the "right setup" incl ip, dns and vpn, you can get round it.

they may not be cheap as the usd is strong these days.

a lot of people stay away from these due to cost, illegitimacy, no guarantee and availability of many other free options incl KODI.

answer is YES.

but this is KODI thread.

KODI is a western invention, cater mostly to western users, limited asian material.
