There is a possibility they will release the pledge after 12 months. Have to confirm with MBB though.

Thanks wong,

Just to clarify, to pledge 50k means only get 50k credit limit?? so if need credit limit of 100k and up , then 100k FD also ??

Is there a way to pledge 50k but have higher credit limit? i think certain months she need higher limit ......

Any other person has experience of similar situation??

Thanks in advance. wink.gif rolleyes.gif

If you would like to use the pledge FD method, please follow this procedure.

1. Fill up the application form with your detail, at the header of the application form (1st page) write "The application to be consider against FD".
2. Scan and email the application form, photocopy of your NRIC to mbbcardservices@maybank.com.my
3. Wait approximate 2 weeks for the card centre to process and if they agree, they will send you an offer letter written the desire FD amount they wish you to pledge.
4. Visit your nearest/preferable Maybank branch, deposit the amount on the offer letter for ordinary FD, show the offer letter and FD cert to the credit card customer service and they will assist you for the rest. (Get the contact of the CS so you can follow up later)
5. Wait another 1 week and the branch shall call you to sign the set-off letter.
6. Wait another few days and you shall receive your cards.

The whole procedure shall take around 1 month.

If you are existing Maybank card holder, requirement will be lower.

If you are not, I would say it's minimum 30k. Credit limit is 1:1 ratio. The required FD amount will be mentioned in the offer letter. Check back my post earlier in this thread, I have posted the offer letter from Maybank.

if you want a higher cl, i suggest you jump ahead and place the amount you desired in fd first. then offer to pledge that fd to get the card.

with all the information posted here i think it is easy to figure out what is the amount they normally required.

if you ask and wait, the branch will only follow what is stated in the letter. by then if you want a higher cl or willing to pledge more, branch will tell you that they are unable to advise.

unlikely, because when I submit my application, I attached with a 50k FD cert, 1 year ordinary. When I receive the offer letter its written 14k, so I do another FD to cater it.

I am not sure if I insist to pledge the 50k FD, what will happen through.

thanks for sharing, didn't knew they are so rigid with it.

likewise what i did was the waiting game, i wanted to pledge more at branch but the officer says she is not sure i am allowed to pledge more than what is stated in the letter and ask me to refer to the card processing unit instead.

as i do not have luxury of time i went ahead with amount in the letter, extra CL would be nice especially they offer 0% BT now wink.gif

If you insist, just call the officer who sign the offer letter and he will fax to you the amended copy

It is just that the formality for applying cards thru pledging FD is not clear and it is very discreet. In practise, the amount is determined by the card applicant, not the bank .

and i was made to wait for an hour at mbb before anyone actually entertained me. everyone that came after me has been called up. despite me questioning why i was made to wait so long.

anyway when i think of the EM conversion and 50% dining. what the heck, it is all worth it lol

well at least with mbb there is still a guide or way to pledge via fd. try with pbb, will vomit blood. the cs at branch told me stamp duty is 0.5% of your requested CL.
