Connecting Linksys WRT54G (with DDWRT) and DB102This guide will enable you to access the Wireless Router (WRT54G) and your Modem (DB102). You'll then will be able to tweak your modem and router at the same time. The end result, You'll be able to access your router on 10.0.0.1 and your modem on 192.168.1.1
The problem most people have is that once you've connected the modem and router together, you are unable to access the modem configuration page. Since both of this device use the
same IP address (192.168.1.1) to access the configuration page, you'll only be able to access the router configuration page only after everything is connected.
Steps We Will Be Taking
1. Configure router to be on a different IP
2. Add some settings to make things work
3. Configure Modem to be in Bridge mode
4. Connect things up
Step 1Connect your PC to the router. (Please don't use wireless. Things get a bit funky. Use a network cable and switch off/disconnect your PC wireless). After you're connected, fireup your browser and type
http://192.168.1.1 at the address bar and hit enter. You'll be presented with the login page. Login with your username and password. You're now at the router configuration page. At the main menu (Top of page) click Setup.
At Interner Setup > Internet Connection Type select PPPOE. Fill up Streamyx username and password. Now scroll down to Network Setup > Router IP > Local IP Address. Change it to 10.0.0.1. Save your settings at the bottom of page. Your router will now have an IP address of 10.0.0.1 so type
http://10.0.0.1 in your browser tbefore proceeding to the next step.
Step 2Now Scroll to top of page, Click Administration > Commands > Diagnostics > Command Shell. Paste the command below
ip addr add 192.168.1.3/24 dev vlan1 brd +
Click Save Startup. This will make the command run during startup. (Note: DB102 will give your router an IP address of 192.168.1.3)
Clear the command window and type paste these commands next.
/usr/sbin/iptables -I POSTROUTING -t nat -o vlan1 -d 192.168.1.3/24 -j MASQUERADE
Click Save Firewall.
You're done withe the router.
Step 3Reset the modem. Connect your PC to the modem (Wired connection please!) In your browser, type
http://192.168.1.1 and login. Click Home > Smart Config. Select Bridge Mode and click submit. Now Click Admin > Commit & Reboot. Click Commit. Click Reboot. Done
Step 4
Connect Modem to Router. Connect PC to router (Wired or wireless, doesn't matter now) Fireup browser.
Now you are setup like this
Router: 10.0.0.1
Modem: 192.168.1.1
Enter the address for the respective device and you'll have access to it.
Enjoy.
