Just bought a new box but unfortunately it's rooted and I cannot use Astro OTG on it. Though I can watch some of the channels elsewhere but still nothing beats Astro OTG when it comes to stability. I love watching live badminton matches.
*
aotg is tricky, does not work on many devices.

aotg, hypp everywhere and iflix are all in SD but are generally stable.

there are other apps that can get u similar/alternative iptv channels, incl soccer - some in SD, some in HD.

live badminton... i can't think of any app as it isn't the most popular int'l sport.

long thread to read... but if u r read enough u will find some of the links to the popular apk's.

So either we get used to that or I adjust the TV vol to about 20-30%, then use HypTV or Q5 vol to adjust.

Any other better solution?

Thanks.
*
diff tv's, diff devices all have their own characteristics.

i set all devices at 70-75% vol and using tv 20-30%, ok.

One more thing, how to fix iFlix "this is embarrassing". Was it because my build prop is weird to iFlix server?
*
this problem is also seen with 2 other local providers - astro-on-the-go and hypptv everywhere.

they work on some boxes, don't work on others.

but they all work on tablets and phones.

that says the providers either intentionally block usage with boxes or simply too slow to catch up with all kinds of android boxes in the use.

but the problem is piracy issue. u know i know ok la, don't cross the line here brows.gif

common scenarios here:

1. there are always newbie comes in the thread and ask which box should i buy so that i can replace astro.

our best answer:
2. there are always newbie comes in the thread and ask what app can i download so that i could stream movie, drama, football match, either in live or on-demand.

answer: you need legal content, you need to pay subscription to service like netflix, iflix…

all these movie, drama, football match, and other broadcast contents are copyright protected. u want ask for free streaming for all these contents? u pandai pandai la…here not allow piracy contents sharing 1 mah…go google the discussion keyword by yourself la…

3. there will be newbie comes in the thread and ask why some android tv box sellers sell their box so expensive and why i saw gb and laz got selling cheap tv box, what's the difference?

answer: in pc world, u know the difference between download torrent by yourself and buy dvd from pasar malam right?

4. there will be newbie comes in the thread and ask why some pre-installed apps work when newly buy but can't watch over some period.

answer: if legal content, it might be trial period ends. if illegal content (be it free or paid), of course it is not 100% guaranteed to work la…even pirated dvd stall in pasar malam with taiko protection also will kena sapu la. pirated online contents also the same, but they have 1 common characteristic: I WILL BE BACK! (just in another form or place)
*
I have actually posted such comments many times in this thread. biggrin.gif

I can repost them in a new thread.

About the download, app issue, i will only discuss the apps, the contents in a general sense, never the specifics like what show, what channel, what torrent, etc. That, people should be sensible enough not to ask in public but use pm.

About those ahem payable iptvs, discussion should not be allowed, at least not in this section. Once one fella starts, it will go on and on... what channels, where to buy, how much, sellers jump in.... and the thread becomes a venue for illegal piracy biz. This bit should be confined in home garage sales section, interested parties can pm, do your private thing.

On my new box, it can open everything but cannot load videos. cry.gif
*
iflix, hypptv e'where and atog all worked on any box in the beginning.

then they all stop working with updates for most boxes.

iflix does not work on my box but work on my android tv.

beats me why there is no diff with all other apps.

Just iflix. HyppTV Everywhere and AOTG still work on the basic Huawei box. laugh.gif

I don't want my box to be rooted actually and cannot use AOTG now. sad.gif
*
i do not know how particular u r with HD vs SD...

me, over time, i start to ignore SD stuff.

so, those 3 iptv apps don't matter much to me.

iflix... is SD... i now hardly watch it even tho it's free for another year.

hypptv e'where, i put on my phone to catch news sometimes.

hypptv 1080i with the STB is good, i use that quite a bit.

aotg - tried before, quality is 360; i can get 720 for some of those channels with other apps.

No, I'm using a TP Link router
The funny thing is that I had previously the same type of box which I had set up for my niece, been running it for over a month at the same place before I handed over to her and that box did not disconnect by itself.
I have 2 other another boxes, MXQ Pro and ZIDOO X1 II, both running fine but then again both of these boxes are quite near the router. Is the Beelink MINI MXIII II prone to poor wifi reception? I'm subscribing unifi 30Mbps, I have run the speed test on the box and only got at best around 10Mbps. On my Note 4 at the same area, I've recorded full 30Mbps speed.
*
the problem u describe happens if the connectivity is consistently weak.

i assuming all of yr 3 boxes are on wifi.

u can swap them around to see if the problem is distance, line of sight or box hardware/firmware.

my boxes, 30mbps, asus router - good connection at 50 ft.

Weekend guys...laying on the couch and watch tv? laugh.gif

just tested some iptv apks from that fb tv box group. (too messy, many apks there but not well organized and introduced)

so far Rice and 云视界 combo work best for me (mostly China & HK tv).

I quite like this 云视界 because it has best menu with well organized general tv and specific content. Too bad it doesn't include TVB Jade channel, otherwise i can just uninstall the Rice and solely rely on it.
*
There are at least a dozen of them. biggrin.gif

Some of them go down for a day or a week, then resurrected.

I only have 3 or 4 as a combo, use whichever works when put on.

Hi guys, I'm new to android TV box. i saw tones of TV box in the market, donno which to pick. I wanna get it for my mom. She likes to watch HK TVB drama. Any recommandation?
1)Is that easy for old ppl learn how to operate?
2) home is running 4m streamyx is that enuff speed to powerup the tv box?
right now using sony smart TV* (not that smart actually), only 1080p. 4k is not needed

Happy new year guys biggrin.gif
*
yes, hundreds of them, all shapes n sizes.

do not buy one and ask yr mum to get in with it!

try it YOURSELF first. then u know if it will be suitable for older people.

go visit the shops and IT malls, ask, see demo.

4mb is on the low side but can get SD stuff.

hk tvb can get but may be limited, may not be very reliable.

sony smart tv - has it got google android tv, hv u have installed apps n working?

if yes, u can try it there first, like a box.

if no, it is of no use, get a separate box.

the only content she interested is HK tvb drama.
the sony "smart TV" only support sony apps cannot use any google apps, no play store as well.
yes definitely getting a box. now if want better performance min requirement at least android 5 and above and at least 2gb ram right?
*
an android box is not the easiest device to use in terms of free entertainment.

so, there is a need for the user to learn how to find, install and maintain the apps. most of these free entertainment apps are not found in playstore. interest, time, a learning process is required. if not, it will be a very frustrating experience.

"HK tvb drama" can be found in a variety of ways - some on live HK tv stations, some on video on demand with certain apps, some via websites or youtube, some as an addon in KODI app. they come in a variety of quality, reliability and selection. it will take the individual to decide what is good and what is not good.

as i do not watch HK TVB drama much, i can't comment further on the details.

yes, get 2/16 android 5 or higher. 2/8 might be OK if limited usage.

I can install everything for her. Just need sometime to teach her how to use it, i think it shouldn't be any problem. What do u mean by maintain the apps, u mean the app require manual update? If getting the box, most likely going to topup RM10 for streamyx 8M, right now on 4m.
I'm checking this Amlogic S905X双频MXQ pro+2G16G comes with air mouse too. from taobao.
https://world.taobao.com/item/529335359798.htm#detail
I saw ppl recommand BEElink, good too? but only 1G ram
noted for the air mouse. thx sifu

Yes, upgrade to 8mbps will surely give better performance.

Maintenance means...

.. many apps or addons in kodi decay or die over time, not auto update. Because they owned and provided by their owners. It depends how well the owners maintain and if they are not harassed, blocked or shut down by regulators. If an app dies, u need to find install new direct replacement or similar. Since they are free, cannot expect all to be well n good all the time. But over time, a user will learn how to keep up and get enough to watch.

.. box firmware updates.. how to get varies from box to box, brand to brand. Some can get online, some can get from sellers. Do consider this bit when buying a box.

This " unblock tech " 3 gen ..
is original from china .. but marketed very well by HKG  and also Taiwan .. and now in Singapore and Malaysia.
The apps include are UBTV ... ONLY works on this UNBLOCK TECH GEN 3 ,,
That is why I quoted that this set is very well marketed  bcos the UBTV IS EMBEDDED in the set ..which do not required any  more $ to view iptv ..
I bought this set at jaya digital mall . Cost about 599 ,,, ( cannot remember the actual cost ).

But I also see it at low yat view net selling it much cheaper ..
No need user code or password ...
But got bonus of adult channel. About 15 channel.
That needs password..

rm599 is... ?

if u mean this box, i can understand. 2/8gb, base box price is RM200 or so. add the ahem iptv...

Some buys bcos they are unfamiliar, did not bother to research or perhaps wants an easier way to perhaps consistent media entertainment option as opposed to current eg xtro. Seller who sells them also needs to earn some profit hence explains the price range. We all know its not as straight forward and there's time spent to install working apks and especially Kodi so new users can enjoy as much as possible.

Actually I don't mind paying for stable IPTV but too many unreliable ones and no longer working after a while...
*
in our local context, it is understandable why that is the case.

"IPTV" usually refers to live tv for news, sports, tv shows, movies.

right now, there are only Astro and Hypptv.

(netflix and iflix are VOD iptv or video on demand, no live channels.)

and day in day out, people either complain the channels are either crap or too expensive.

desperate for alternatives. more so with shrinking purchasing power, need to cut expense.

so, result - illegit iptv doing its best to profit at time of purchase. no guarantee, no recourse.

it is similar to the days of pasar malam DVD with risk of "cinema copy" compared to genuine DVD's at RM30 a pc.

we would hope one day we get a legit "complete" live and vod iptv service - all the popular int'l news, movies, tv shows... in many languages... with all kinds of subs... in hd... in dd5.1... all for RM50 a month. Now, that's asking a lot. laugh.gif

until then, we do our best to watch the best and most reliable we can find for free.

and we know many have been very successful, very satisfied. tongue.gif

free ones come and go, die and get resurrected.

among the free ones, some are better than ones.

some breakdown every day; some stay good for 2-3 years.

i do not know if the payable ahem illegit ones are better.

the good ones are legit and payable - astro iptv, hypptv, netflix and iflix.

but there isn't one that majority are giving thumbs up in terms of price vis-a-vis live tv and vod content/quality.

to find, maintain and use the most reliable ones at acceptable quality, content and price is our quest. laugh.gif
