hi, just want to ask, if i am just watching movies, does it make a difference if I get the Zidoo X1 or the Zidoo X6 Pro?

Is loading times faster?
*
"watching movies" can mean usb playback, simple movie apps or torrent based apps/addons.

generally speaking, 1/8gb is never as good as 2/16gb.

unless u r talking about just a few simple non demanding apps and that will not change.

thanks AVFAN. Watching movies I mean using Kodi and watching. Can i ask something also, is the X6 pro much better than the X1?

Cause I don't want to spend extra on the box if there is no boost in performance.
*
From the specs n reviews, the x6pro is a premium box, good for many things.
Kodi also become very large, need a lot of memory n storage, depends on what u put in to get what u want.
Performance can mean many things... speed, ease of navigation, need to clean up, room for future...

I would not encourage u to take x1 unless, like i already said, u r sure u will only use light stuff forever.
However, if the price diff is really huge, a cheap box can serve to be a learning tool.
But u must not regret having to buy another one in the future!

Recently manage to compare my current unit Minix x8-H plus to new Himedia Q10pro player.
Spec on paper Performance & Input and output Himedia Q10pro is the winning media player.

In video quality of color i find Minix X8-H had a better color tone ...more vivid look, Himedia Q10pro color more flat but it have option of adjust the color parameter manually.

In Himedia Q10Pro HDR function i dont see much of improve on normal streaming but if base on 4k video film it looks great.
*
Picture "quality" is determined by the file, box settings tv settings, and avr if u r using one via hdmi.

For same file, it will be about the box and tv settings.

I assume u r using a 4k hdr tv.

Q10pro... besides the parameter control, try the android settings, advanced settings, play with the sampling type. I find 4:2:0 10 bit to give the deepest colors for playback.

Also, check from time to time the video setting... when u go to kodi or other apps, it will adjust to 1080i 60hz or 1080p 50hz. For playback, set it to 2160p 60hz.... this, i find is best... for any file playback with native player.

Good midrange box would be Zidoo X6 Pro. Can get for about RM360.
*
this is a decent price.

did u buy it yet?

if u did, would be good if u can give a short review, incl...

.. picture output quality, colors..
.. what audio output.. dd, dts. dtshdma, ddtruehd..
.. how well it plays kodi 17..
.. wifi performance..
.. does it get hot..
.. anything u think impt for others to know..

will be good for other box buyers.

interesting to note this pair of remotes look so much like the MELE F10.

only that the Mele F10 is 2-in-1, i.e. airmouse and remote are in one device, 2 sides, RM80.

what is the indicative price of this Rii "pair"?

Hi does android support those wireless mouse that comes with a dongle(not bluetooth type)? Do I need to get specific type of mouse?

Like this one http://www.lazada.com.my/logitech-m170-wir...e-11588904.html will it work?
*
if u r used to a mouse, a wireless mouse with a scroller is most useful and cost effective for an android box.

take note that depending on the app in use, sometimes u need a mouse to navigate, sometimes u need the remote - becos most apps are built for touchscreen mobile devices.

mouse combined with the remote control, they will be able to do everything.

that logitech mouse is fine.

very slow, laggy and hangs a lot when using kodi. wifi is so weak. When I use X1, my wifi shows strong.

i am surprised.

pls do more tests... try ethernet.

kodi 17 can be tough for some devices, maybe try 16.1.

anyone still using popcorntime?

i stopped using it when kodi quasar became a better option.

there are many popcorn forks, many versions for various devices.

the new popcorns... (pls dun ask me where to get, google please.. tongue.gif )

new look, better structured, easier navigation.

but choice of video links now very limited.

the android 4.x version allows u to use diff players available in yr box, e.g. native player, kodi player, even yr smart tv player.

if correct player used, the DD videos will give DD audio.

there is also a version for androidtv (smart tv's, etc.), so it is handy to stick it into yr tv direct.

I realised that there's noticeable improvement of video quality on Q5 Pro vs other device with S912,  anyone shares the same view?
*
Becos it has the Imprex engine.

This engjne is an improvement over the ExpressX engine in q16.

Older models has neither.

Minix Neo U1 better than the MiBox? Yes, no doubts. However, specs-wise and if you have a 4K HDR TV, get the HiMedia Q10 Pro (some mandarin may be required) instead.

The best remains the Nvidia Shield TV Box running Android TV OS.

Himedia is still a young co. Only 12 years old.
From a small media player maker in shenzhen for china market to a full english international android box.
Its their experience in media players that make the native player a powerful one.
Something like their hallmark, will keep going to provide the best licensed codecs for audio and video.
A 5 yr old q series can do hd audio, iso, bdmv while others today still cant do dts or dd.

Few years ago, too young to be international, focus on home market.
Now, internationally, they have made the breakthrough with exbihitions, expos, conferences, agents and distributors.
There is a now lot of support in english in futeko, kodi and ither english forums and websites.
