yeap, I came across this service too. mean currently without subscribe it, do you able to watch astro ?
Netflix is for movie right ?
*
Without Cloud TV I won't be able to access Astro channels. For Netflix you can download the app from playstore and it serves western movies and series. But you need to pay a monthly subscription. Anyway I am not the type who likes to watch Live TV, i prefer on demand. I maintain my sub to astro for watching sports.

I tot after using the tv box, no need sub to Astro
*
It's quite complicated for me bro:

1) I use my Ps3 to watch Netflix and Dramafever (it has lots of Korean dramas but have not really started, but based on test very good quality and smooth). My Himedia can be used for Netflix but it serves up to 480p only. Ps3 displays in HD

2) Astro for watching sports.

3) Himedia android box - for anything not available on Netflix and movies. I use Kodi and Cartoon HD app.

4) Google Chromecast - For netflix and iflix (for my bedroom tv)

So the above sums up my entertainment set-up lol biggrin.gif . But bear in mind if you wanna access dramafever, you need to subscribe to a VPN service or DNS since it is only available for US only. But yet I still itch to buy a MiniX or Roku 3 don't know why, just my impulse

your TV box jail break ?
*
No jailbreak whatsoever, just customise with apps and Kodi. Netflix is RM42 per month, the best streaming service ever..period.

hello.. any recommendation for android tv box that is like an USB stick, where I can just stick it to my TV's HDMI port and use it directly? Thanks..
*
For USB stick, the plug and play one will be google chromecast, you can buy from lazada.
Good for: youtube, Netflix (need to pay sub), Viki, iflix (need to pay sub).
You cannot install Kodi on it.

Others will be Roku stick, but need more config to make it work, definitely not plug and play

Google Chromecast is not an android box, I thought? The latest Chromecast is now an Android box instead of casting? I am really looking for an android box where I can install apks on it and watch it freely on any TV without the hassle of taking out/connecting back cables.

It is not an "android box". If that is the case, i think you are better off buying the normal android box. My two cents.

I think pertaining to Adihassan's query, as Voncrane mentioned, only Nvidia Shield could undertake Kodi and yet stream Netflix in HD. Most android boxes will not be able to stream Netflix at best resolution.

Thus for me i use my Ps3 for Netflix, Hulu and Dramafever. My Himedia Q16 for Kodi.

If you want a cheaper set-up, buy a chromecast (only for Netflix) and Android box for Kodi.

Whereas for unlocking Netflix US content, it is near impossible now due to the clampdown by Netflix, you might as well enjoy the local content, which is not too bad IMO as they have added many content.

Just sharing my experience so far

Anyone know any seller in Lazada that sets up the box fully with different free channels, VOD and live TV? I noticed LC Marketing is the guy in Digital Mall Section 14. But I am not sure if he sells his boxes in Lazada all done up or just empty box. Anyone got experience buying from Lazada with boxes all done up? Who can I buy from that has det up the box fully?
*
I bought a Himedia from the shop before. They pre-installed a few apps for you, but they will not set-up Kodi for you. So far after 1.5 years, my box is still working fine but I need to hang out in this forum to keep myself informed of upgrades and tweaks.

My experience is some of these apps will stop working in a few months, you need to know where to get updates. Same with Kodi too.

Hi guys, I need some advice.

My dad has asked me to get a box for him that can stream countless channels and movies.  he saw on lazada and was selling for RM480.  i went to gadget zone and they are selling theirs for RM590 with one year warranty.  And i take it, one year warranty means, uninterrupted streaming until i'm block by the authorities.

Any specific brand or specs I should buy?
Thanks.

I would recommend you to buy from Nicety (his nick) from Garage Sales section. He gives very good advice and guides. But he does delivery. If you wanna look at the physical device, I would buy from Digital Mall PJ, the shop on the right side of the escalator on the 1st floor. I bought mine from there. No complaints after 1.5 years.

If that's the case, try to get the one that ships with the Global ROM and or built for the USA market. That supports Google’s services (Playstore, movies, etc). I'm not a fan of it only having 8GB storage.
*
Agree. 8gb storage is really "potong stim". Still waiting for a 32gb storage box biggrin.gif
