an update on this movie hd app...

version 1.1.0 worked then died.

a few days later, it came back, working good now on one of my devices.

it works on my quad kitkat but does not work on a dual jellybean.

it seems the app has a way to detect the device for previous registration or chipset type or mac no. to work or not, possibly as a way to control no. of users...? don't really know the truth.

anyway, try it. it is very good - if it works on yr device.

Used to be a good working app for me, did not update thus cannot use now. I am using Cartoon HD now, which is equally good

Q8 is from the long selling Q series, uses quadcore hisilicon chipset, 1gb/8gb, android 4.4 kitkat.
this spec is a little low on the memory but should the job well for most apps.
however, 8gb memory... after the os and other requirements, there is only 4-5gb left, can't take too many or very large apps.

H8 Octa is the first one in a new series, uses rockchip, octa core, android 5.1 lollipop.
comes in two submodels - 1gb/8gb and 2gb/16gb.
former as entry level; latter has more memory for more apps.
i believe this model is the current flagship model.

there has been many models in the last 2-3 years of which the most popular were q5ii and q16 - both no longer sold in the market.

for details on specs, differences, best to ask the sellers.

Does Iflix work on the new H8 Octa core or Minix U1? I know it worked on Minix8H Plus

This Movie HD is strange... after 3 days, it stopped working again! sad.gif

Cartoon HD is much like MegaHD.

Together with Showbox and Movie HD, they are all quite similar.

Differences only in content focus, 1080p material and the option to choose player and possibility of getting subs.

Popcorn Time is a little different, I like it better - many 1080p files.

No need so many, 1 or 2 will do! biggrin.gif

Yea bro. So far with Cartoon HD, Popcorn time and Kodi, coupled with my iflix (use chromecast) There's more than enough content than I can consume...haha

in this world...there's no such thing as free lunch...same for the so called "lifetime free iptv of 1000+ channels"
*
I agree with you. I am quite skeptical on those lifetime free iptv..You need money to maintain the servers..

i have used himedia for >2 yrs now.

older q5ii supports up to bdmv, dtshdma, ddtruehd.
1 yr old q16 supports 3d, 4k, dd atmos as well.

i have tested 4k files, good. dd atmos - as my audio system is not atmos, i only get ddtruehd... but i am quite sure the firmware handles it, have seen the changelog.

i do not know if all current models handle all of that, so best to check with seller.

I am also using Q16 ( I think more than 6 months now), totally satisfied with its performance. My in-law has an older model android box, i think it is Minix 5. When i installed Kodi on the Minix and tried playing some videos (drama series), it did not stream well. It could not even play the HD files. Whilst my Q16 was able to handle all that smoothly. Hence, i think it would be worthwhile to buy a better spec 'box' for an enjoyable media experience.

Then that is too bad...
What else choice I have here? just need some recommendation, perhaps some good sellers as well.

I think you probably need to up your budget a bit to around 450 to 490 to get a good android box

Hi,

Which device can let me watch live football streaming smoothly?
*
To be honest bro. I've gone down this path and I find the live football you get from android boxes are not gonna be too "smooth" or either at critical moment, it may give you problem. I've experienced that when i tried to watch an important match.

I've subbed to IPTVs and used apps, but at the end of the day because I wanted to have a top quality experience, I went back to subbing Astro for the sports. Having said that, for all other aspects such as watching movies, anime, series etc, my Himedia Q16 is the greatest thing that has ever happened to me after smartphone. Trust me, once you owned an android box or similar device, you can never live without one. Cheers bro!

QUOTE(AVFAN @ Dec 31 2015, 10:31 AM)
thanks for comments.

i have read some very different comments but i never had the need as my wifi streaming does the job.

one thing - when you say powerline works for HD, do you mean playback or online streaming or both?
for both hd video and hd audio?
*
I live in a 2 storey house and have tested both powerline adapters and wifi for video streaming on my android box. It is important that the power sockets must be within the same "phase". I ensured mine was within the same phase and circuit as well (i've read it is better). I've heard from a friend when used on a different phase, data transfer is too slow.

It performed well but when I compare vis-a-vis my wifi, I do not see much difference. My videos could still stream well. Thus, I just continued with my wifi for convenience as I tend to move my android box from ground to 1st floor all the time (when I want to watch in my bedroom).

So in conclusion, my wifi worked pretty well for my video streaming and I am using a stock router from Maxis. Hope this helps others.

However, I would like to state the videos I watch are mostly SD and max HD. I've never compared for higher definition files.

Will a Maxis 10mbps line stream Bluray or 4k files smoothly on a Himedia Q16?

yes, i have the same experience like you.

that's why never had the need to explore anything else.

my asus router+q16 androidbox+samba works well up to 55ft even with bdmv files.

out of curiosity, i just tried netflix on my box.

.. easy to register and get working
.. easy to use
.. smooth, no buffering
.. eng and other subs
.. limited selection
.. not all tv episodes are as up-to-date as u like
.. at best 720p (for ultra hd option), close to hypptv's 1080i

1st month free, try it!

Did you managed to install netflix on your Q16?

Nice...  rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif  It's indeed a slick looking device. Update the firmware first if need be (usually automatically done on first boot up), set up accounts, install a couple of apps, later post a review & update as you discover along.. Help others..

Hi, thanks for the explanation!

Based on my understanding, apps are what I should be really looking at, and secondly, the hardware of the box.

@Voncrane, how much is the Neo U1? For the things I want to watch, I found sellers who said they can install it to the box (for Mi Box). Haven't found a seller who can do the same for Minix as of now...will continue to search around.
*
You can find a seller at Digital mall, PJ for MiniX where they install apps for you. 1st floor right beside the escalator. I bought my Himedia there and they install the apps for me. So far 1 year on, everything still ok.

How much you bought it for? biggrin.gif

Mind tell me why did you chose HiMedia?

1st floor right beside the escalator? It is a small booth right? Do you have contact info for the seller?
*
I think when I bought it was around RM500 plus (Himedia Q16). So far it has served me well. But seems like MiniX is slightly better as it can also install iFlix, Himedia can't. I chose Himedia after reading through Low Yat forum and recommendations from bros here.

I can say Himedia, Minix and XiaoMi Box is the most discussed android box in low yat. So plenty of advice if you have problem. I would personnally recommend Minix, i think also about Rm500 plus now. You won't regret it. i don't have the contact but the seller post his shop in Low yat

may i know do you add the axtro on it ?

They install an app called Cloud TV for you. You need to subscribe to it. I think USD 40 for 6 months etc, different pricing. It contains Astro. I sub to the 6 months package before, works ok. But picture quality and audio is so so only, so i no longer sub to it. Just using Kodi and Netflix

without the Cloud TV thing, can still watch HK drama kan?
*
Yeah. You need to install Kodi first, then learn to install the relevant addons. I've seen HK drama available on Drama24H addon. I don't really watch HK drama so I can't vouch whether it is stable or not.
