Seems like NJOI is a scam.

it's basically just a gateway for you to spend money with astro

you get the most basic channels, when you feel like watching say, sports events, you pay money to them and unlock those channels

but the value really isn't there anymore
in the past analog tv was fuzzy and this was clearer
but now with digital tv, free tv is nice and clear as well

So it is a scam lah.
Need to spend about RM500 to get this Njoi for some channels.
Assthrow can just remove them and force customers to pay more monthly to watch those basic channels in HD.

Yeah that's right. If you no longer able to view the 8 free SD channels, and you're not willing to subscribe to either NJOI HD Pack or NJOI Family Pack, then it's end of story.

I believe some of you read the news regarding the company's financial performance, right? And you know that their service T&C stated that they can change whatever business rules they want, right?
So now, they want to monetise their NJOI customers and "encourage" them to start paying (if they haven't been doing so). How is this even surprising?

For them it's like, since some NJOI customers have been enjoying their service (i.e. free 8 SD channels) for so many years without paying monthly fee, and now they take it away from you (i.e. no more free), then basically you have no say on that already...
Either you continue watch whatever remaining channels you can, or keep the NJOI box into the store room, or sell it on Carousell (who knows some people might want it, as it'd be cheaper than you buy a new NJOI box...)

End of story.

Free SD channels on NJOI to cease by end-July 2024: CH125, 126, 261, 321, 346, 375, 531, 831

• Although some NJOI viewers out there might already lose access to the free 8 SD channels mentioned, by getting the "This CH is not included in your subscription" message on their TV, NJOI said it is being carried out in phases, and the deadline is set to complete by end-Jul.
• Viewers who wish to continue watching those channels will have to subscribe to at least HD Pack RM14 for 30 days (RM15.12 for 30 days incl. tax) or Family Pack RM28 for 30 days (RM30.24 for 30 days incl. tax) for more channels.
• Only the affected NJOI customers can redeem a one-time free 30-day NJOI Family Pack through the My NJOI app. Limited time offer.

Wait, what is happening here?
NJOI was launched back around end-Dec 2011, where you can watch selected free TV channels with no monthly fee required, such as Astro Prima, AEC, Vaanavil, CCTV4, and more. Those channels are in Standard Definition (SD) quality.
However, that rule starts to change close to 10 years later. Whoever activated their NJOI box before 28 April 2021, will continue to be eligible to watch those free SD channels, and those who activate after that date, will not be getting those free SD channels mentioned at all.

As of 2024, the remaining free SD channels for NJOI boxes that activated before 28 April 2021 can enjoy are:

1. Astro Prima (CH125)
2. Astro Oasis (CH126)
3. Astro Vaanavil (CH261)
4. Celestial Classic Movies (CH321)
5. Astro AEC (CH346)
6. CCTV4 (CH375)
7. Astro Awani (CH531)
8. Astro Arena (CH831)

Since early 2024, some netizens shared that they are no longer able to view those channels, while others are still able to watch them.
Later, it was revealed that NJOI has been carrying out a cessation exercise of the 8 SD channels to the existing old NJOI customers in phases (although no clear timeline was announced).

Why are they removing the 8 free SD channels?
The reason is pretty obvious: They want to monetise NJOI customers.

If you read Astro's financial performance in the news, you would probably understand better why they'd do this.
They want to encourage NJOI customers to start paying (if haven't been doing so), by subscribing to their prepaid packs, such as HD Pack or Family Pack.

If the older batch of NJOI customers continues to enjoy the 8 free SD channels, customers probably won't even consider subscribing or paying. Hence to make it more “encouraging” for customers to start paying, they decided to remove the entitlement of the SD channels for the older batch of NJOI customers in phases.

Affected customers received this email from NJOI, containing this statement at the very bottom of the email.


What is HD Pack or Family Pack, and how much is it?
It is their prepaid package that gives you access to more channels, and it is in HD quality.

I'm not happy with this. I don't want to pay for that.
Unfortunately, that is their business direction now, and they have the rights to amend whatever business rules they like. After all, you have been enjoying those channels for free for many years enough.
You can choose to either continue watching the remaning free NJOI TV channels as below:

Redeem a free 30-day NJOI Family Pack?
If you are an affected NJOI customer, you will get a voucher code to redeem a one-time free 30-day NJOI Family Pack through the My NJOI app. You can copy the voucher code in My NJOI app (Settings>Vouchers), and then tap “+” on the NJOI Credit section at the top right corner, and then tap “Top up via Prepaid PIN, click here”, then paste the voucher code to redeem it.Do note that the voucher code has a limited time validity and may become expired/invalid even if you don't redeem it.

Still using a non-HD box?
If you are one of the remaining minorities out there who still uses the legacy box that doesn’t support HD, then you will need to buy a new NJOI box, just like a new NJOI customer, to continue watching more channels.

Based on the info from the video posted by Astro Facebook page, and the information posted on Stadium Astro https://stadiumastro.com/sukan-lain/paris-2...an-astro-269059, here's what I can conclude:

• There will be 16 dedicated Olympics channels. Also, Astro Arena and Arena 2 channels will also be providing some Olympics coverage, so total they make it up as 18 channels. But for me, I'll assume it as 16 channels.
• However, out of the 16 dedicated Olympics channels, only 10 of it will be made available on NJOI. The remaining 6 channels, will be made available on Sooka platform.
• Sooka users with any active plans will have full access of the 16 channels mentioned, plus 2 Arena channels.

The 6 channels that aren't made available on NJOI ones, I assume those are either just repeats or some sports matches that majority of Malaysian viewers may not be interested of?

I got the info that, to watch Paris 2024 Olympics channels on NJOI, all you need is just to subscribe to any of the Starter Packs (except RM14/mth HD Pack).
You don't need Sports Mega Pack to watch Paris 2024 Olympics channels. So you could say that, as long you have Family Pack RM28, then you're good to go.

It’s time. Soon, no more ala carte channels on NJOI Prepaid.

Star Vijay is now part of Family Pack.

You're using HDMI from your NJOI box to your TV, is it?

Have you tried unplug the HDMI cable on both NJOI box and your TV, and then connect it back?

Also, have you unplug the power switch of the NJOI box and then plug it back / power on?

Yes hdmi on my njoi box. Already tried your steps same as astro troubleshoot
Seems not working 😞

Your NJOI box is out of warranty, right?

Try connect your NJOI box to another TV or a computer monitor that has HDMI input.

If still same, then try clear NVRAM according to your Astro box model:

First of all, I apologize for asking the following noob questions relating to discontinuation of channel 346 from NJOI free channels lists.

1) If not mistaken, my NJOI box were activated far before 28/04/2021 but Channel 346 was missing wef 01/08/2024. Is it normal? What can I do to continue watching Channel 346?

2) How do I know whether my NJOI box is the HD Box or the legacy non-HD Box? How to check and confirm?

3) HD Pack RM14 only supported by NJOI HD Box? HD Pack doesn't work for legacy non-HD Box ?

1) Unfortunately, good things come to an end. You’re losing selected SD channels including Ch 346 from August 1, 2024, onwards. Purchase the HD Pack at RM14 for 30 days on My NJOI app to continue watching Ch 306 in HD.



2) The pictures you’re compiled are indeed the current HD Zapper Box. So it’s HD-supported.

3) Yes. Hence, the “HD Pack” naming scheme. This pack isn’t supporting older, legacy decoders.
