There's sweep 2 wake and double tap 2 wake function.

But you'll have to install a custom kernel.

And it drains your battery too as the digitizer is always active.

Double Tap to wake,
Swipe to wake,
Gravity screen

QUOTE(djlah @ Feb 1 2014, 05:30 PM)
yes, volume rocker to wake up the screen.
without physical button, have more choice:
1. double tap to wake (aka knock on).
2. swipe from left to right the screen to wake up.
3. those using cover flip casing, can try smart cover app, which is using the ALS to detect the flip open or close.
4. buy flip cover with magnet feature

I'm basically on stock phone...unrooted, stock ROM. Do you guys use these functions? Or use physical button? I'm just afraid too much use of the buttons will wear them out.

Using Swipe to wake. Dont worry about wear out power button, I seldom use my power button on Nexus4, it still become not so responsive over half year. rclxub.gif

Yes, I'm in hybrid mixed of both usage. reason: digitizer active all the time, of course drain some battery, while frequent use of physical button might causing buttons wear out as your afraid. the best is get the balance between this 2. daytime I used double tap to wake and press the power button to toggle disable it during my sleeping time or long idle time specially damm busy on working. when I wake up in the morning, power button or volume rocker to turn on the screen and swipe to sleep again....

since you just factory reset, try again one more time. last resort, you might consider manual flash the rom if you confirm your gmail account no issue + no issue on your own network.

You don't lose root if you do factory reset. Factory reset basically just wipes off your /data partition. Your root privileges are on /system (or some other partitions, correct me if I am wrong).

Red is beautiful but it's too bright, people would quickly notice you're holding a giant red slab on your hands.

I prefer the stealth all-black looking Nexus 5.
