Will I lose root if I do factory reset? I have a nandroid backup of stock rom and titanium backup. What steps should I be taking?

Thanks
*
You don't lose root if you do factory reset. Factory reset basically just wipes off your /data partition. Your root privileges are on /system (or some other partitions, correct me if I am wrong).

Anyone interested in authentic wood skin made from wood (instead of veneer)?
I may want to start a bulk for this if there's enough interest.

If I'm not mistaken, dbrands also got wood.

What sets this apart from dbrands and the others is that this skin uses real wood, as such has a different finishing texture.

Check out this link that tells more about the skin. Alternatively, you can just youtube "toast made wood skin" and there are a few videos about other phones as well.

39. Keep calm and try to climb over the bottom pipe instead of fly under the top pipe. Off sound may help, too.

Anyone tried the Battery Guru by Qualcomm?
*
Yup, I notice some little improvement. It manages to make my WiFi on and off according to my usage (previously, Google will force WiFi on all the time for location pooling for Google Now and who knows what secret they have). If you let Battery Guru to disable most push services (which I didn't) you should be able to get more battery life, too.

It comes with a nifty companion app called Glance which offers a very interesting concept. Try it out (I decide not to use them because it breaks the Holo look IMHO).

All this flashy talk makes my hand itchy. Should I go into custom ROM?

Any ROM recommendation? Want something that has RC/Milestone release that's stable enough for every day usage and don't require often flashing. Best if can update like stock OTA, no need to mess too much with recovery. Pie control, multi-window features are all good to try, but not really compulsory. Not looking for too much of battery optimisation (I believe in downclocking to provide the most battery saving), but don't want weird drainage at all.

Oh ya, any possible way in backing up phone without root (I have TB Pro but that definitely needs root), or making nandroid without root. Bootloader unfortunately locked.

Yeah you should flash.

And for ROM, stability and releases varies depends on the development and developers. For best updater like stock ROM, Omni has implemented the open delta which almost same like stock updater. PA and Slim also have their respective updater.

Helium is possible to back up your apps without root so give 'em a try.
*
Yup, quite interested with Omni, PA and Slim but CM just releases a Milestone. What's the status for CM nowadays? I was really into custom ROM back when I had a HTC Desire (that's somewhere 2012) and Omni and PA didn't even exist back then. CM and MIUI are the most popular one, and AOKP is still a newbie.

If CM is still as good as it was, I think it's a good starting point for me.

i think alot ppl say it nt as useful..
some even claim it drain more battery than saving...
i dun thk battery saving app is necessary as long as you can control your rogue apps and wakelocks..

It takes a while to learn your behaviour. In that time, it does drain more battery. I think it's a very good app in controlling those Google apps that always sync data in the background - which does improve my battery life I would say.

I can vouch for CM; It's become easier to get it onto your phone nowadays... just download the installer app on phone/PC and it'll download and handle the flashing for you.
If you're a power user/feeling a little adventurous, you can manually download the file and flash yourself using recovery.

Not much to say lah about CM.. almost stock looking but with added tweaks and little things that make usability very nice.
Features wise, they have Pie Controls as well, built in App Ops, Privacy Guard, WhisperPush, etc etc...

You want more? get Xposed, Gravitybox, etc etc... haha.

EDIT: Oops, most importantly, CM11 is based on KitKat AOSP which right now is on their 3rd month (M3) snapshot build.
*
Ya, I saw PA and Slim seem to be on weekly and Omni is on nightly. Probably will get the CM Monthly. Now I just need to find the time to sit down and do it.

Cerberus, one of the most crucial app that should be installed.
Omni if you don't mind updating by nightlies via Open Delta technology, just like stock OTA.
*
Compare Cerberus and Android Device Manager? Android Device Manager looks neat to me, but never really try them.

I dont use any apps to check my wakelock (because some dont work on ART) and I dont take any screenshot either but usually I get only a couple of hours of SOT, at most 3 when browsing before battery when to 20-30%. And it heats up more than I play games.

Yesterday I totally disable data and WiFi to check battery life, even gaming under this condition is longer than total browsing time! Its not a simple game either, played GTAIII and finished about 6 mission before battery reach 50% mark
*
Seems about right TBH. I am getting similar SOT but I was on dalvik. Just switched to ART and let's see if it improves.

Not too steep for the pricing. I know this is what my dad has been looking for like forever.
But for me it won't be that useful, move on to cloud storage already.

issit good?.. =P

I use it as a lockscreen widget, and also a homescreen widget. It takes up the whole default homescreen panel of mine and I have incoming notifications to appear on it. So I can access them easily. I also have all my battery, network, weather and all sort of info on it. It's somehow similar to the Glance app by Snapdragon.

Hi guys, finally on custom ROM. Started off with CM11. Everything seems okay but I really want to take advantage of Cyanogen profiles as it enables the toggle between secure/insecure/disabled for lockscreen. Currently, to automate the profiles, I need paid apps but I don't feel like paying yet (even though it's just a 1USD app). Is there any other custom ROM that allow automating profiles?

Hey, I am on Paranoid Android now but option seems to be a bit limited? It's really stock like and I can't seem to have access to the famous PA options like HALO, Pie control and hybrid UI. Am I missing something here?

Sadly after 2 months on, their ROM still pretty much stock AOSP, they claimed to completely rebuild their functions from ground, so should took some time. If hand itchy, could try GravityBox or other custom ROM for now.

LOL, now on OmniRom, didn't even bother with a Nandroid for the barebone PA. Let's see what Omni has.
