Hmm, there are driver mods in R9 cards? I only know my 780 would have Sky mods, but I don't use his driver, only vbios. Use his driver, and a dual 780 Ti scores could overrun Quad Titan in Valley benches with about the same hardware.

maybe R9 290X just faster? no i don't know how to mod Driver or where to download.. i am Noob!

Its not driver mod but instead CCC override settings.. I'm just curious because the difference is so obvious that's why..20fps difference with a higher clock R9-290, now that's questionable.. no offense bro just wondering

i did what u say blast Offset to max and also core clock till it hit stable.. and i open my case... put on Air cond lowest temp.. take mobile air-cond seat it next to open casing and i OC oh fans set to 60% ...

Edit this method seem to work with Sapphire Trix not Reference card

if 290x true potential is really that much more powerful than 290..then I guess its time for an upgrade

too late i sold off my Reference R9 290X today

nah my 290 is no longer considered reference since it's already equipped with something as powerful as Tri-x cooler already

We have the same dell monitor, just doesn't cut it [Not good enough]. To much tearing what you think?

Oh, so that's how. Just open the case, turn on your air-cond and seat your mobi air-cond to your exposed case. Cool, I want to try it too.

I would say he's lucky to have those score on his R9. He's on Ivy Bridge i7 and mine's a Sandy Bridge i5, definitely his CPU would help much there.

after saw your score, only realize 290 = 2 times of 7970 score

How's that tearing happen, is it vertical or horizontal tearing? Juz asking.

horizontal, is funny how people playing games on 4k without these issues

hmm..pardon me but I don't really face that problem tbh, been gaming at 1440p max settings possible I'm hardly get 60++fps with single 290 so tearing not a big issue to me. so far I can clearly see tearing in "Dishonour" and "Bioshock Infinite" games which is too obvious to me. Enabling V-sync solved that.

opening the case, full blast air-cond etc will only help cooling the card and stabilize the OC, there's no further improvement on FPS at all by doing that unless the card was throttling before. so I still in doubt haha

btw, he's on haswell not ivy bridge and so far that I concern at this level of processing power, cpu wont give us huge boost in performance anymore, maybe 2-3 FPS at max. Since I'm running 4.8GHz haswell and unseen83 only 4.3GHz which is much lower than me that's why I've been questioning the score even more. this has nothing to do with jealousy whatsoever but more onto the fact behind the score, of course 290x is better than 290. from what I know 290 perf is close enough to 290x even when both cards oc'ed. It might be the driver 14.1 or something to do with win8 maybe?

well bro this isn't a 24/7 score at all. most 290 can only be stabilize around 1075-1125 max 24/7 with air cooling and I believe your 7970 can do more than that. from my own test, this 290 was only about 20-25% faster than 7970 GHz. same goes when comparing OC'ed result for both cards. 7970 was still a beast card in my book..

Have you turned on the Vsync or just limiting the FPS rates? Connection? (DVI to VGA, HDMI to HDMI)
You mean people with same monitors? Could be having a good monitor (Revision A01 or A02) or something helping them (NVidia's Adaptive Vsync or so?)
4K res? Could be G-sync monitors... it's just from my view only.
