QUOTE(squall_kay @ Aug 30 2017, 09:35 PM) my car already passed 115k mileage and close to 5 years. im still enjoy driving it especially since replaced the clutch pack. much better smoothness (once in the while only jerk at low gear; but definitely way much3 better than previous; time will tell how long it can last). you replaced clutch at 100k were still under warranty? or 3 years /60k only? tqvmreplaced TCM at around 80k mileage. replaced clutch during 100k mileage. replaced driver power window at 100k mileage together with clutch. replaced engine mounting at 70k mileage. 3-4x software update which were fine for me. my car AC condenser still running fine. no issue yet. aside above i dont face much issue despite general perception of malaysian towards Ford brand. dont mind to purchase ford again in future as long as they have good car to drive. too bad Mk4 seems like at least 2 years to reach malaysian shore. |

QUOTE(SportyHandling @ Nov 2 2017, 10:15 PM) It's good you tested the Hyundai Veloster Turbo. I just had the opportunity to drive a small Hyundai car (forgotten the model) given to me as a replacement car when my Ford Focus was in the service centre for clutch replacement. I drove it for 2 days and didn't want to drive it anymore after that and switched to my other car, the Proton Preve Turbo. Everything is just wrong with the car. Obviously it is not built for speed and handling but I share the same experience with the seating position, particularly the ergonomics. It is just so uncomfortable to drive the car. The seating position, steering wheel position and gear knob all appear to be in the wrong position as it just doesn't feel right. Just a terrible car. I guess the higher range models would be better but still I don't have much high hopes or interest in Hyundai or any Korean car for that matter. replace clutch again? As for Volkswagen, the only good models worth considering in the range is the Passat, or the lesser Jetta. The Golf GT is more to playboy types in my opinion. The power and handling may be exceptional but according to some of the ladies in my company who have sat in their ex-boyfriend's Golf GT, the car was said to be very uncomfortable as the ride is very bumpy. The Passat looks more elegant and has a good blend of power, handling and comfort but the price tag is a lot steeper. My wife used to own the Honda City and it has one of the worst handling around - worse than the Proton Preve Turbo. Not too sure how the Civic Turbo compare but I noticed some users of the Civic Turbo surely like to test the power of the car by driving fast and furious style on the highways, overtaking from the left and in a zig-zag manner. But as a family car I guess the rear space of the Civic should be the selling point. Coming back to the Ford Focus. Everything has been said about the car so I wouldn't repeat so much about the good points. It is certainly true that it is a very nice car to drive. Not only in terms of high speed cruising or handling around the corners but slow speed driving in heavy traffic as well. I once remember reading about people sharing on the performance of the Ford Focus many years ago on the Motortrader or Autoworld forum(Chips Yap was the moderator), 8 or 10 years ago before I get to know about this LowYat forum. Some people actually commented that the Ford Focus is a much nicer car to drive than the BMW or Mercedes Benz especially in maneouvring in heavy traffic. I think it is partly of the light and accurate steering which has contributed to the high drivability of the car. When negotiating a tight 90 degrees corner etc. it is very easy to control the car by the sharp and responsive steering wheel. I can not only turn the steering wheel by one arm but sometimes I can do it with a finger too. Not that I'm turning the steering wheel with one finger but it just illustrates how easy and light the steering wheel is which contributes to the high drivability of the car. IN comparison to my other car, the Proton Preve Turbo, the Preve's steering feels like a lorry - so much heavier and I need to use two hands most of the time to turn the steering in tight spots. Okay rant over. Enjoy your new car. The Ford Focus is a good car. It's just the after-sales that sucks a bit but that's already expected. I did complain about my car jerking, after tested still within their spec, ~400-500 ??, how did you get through their test, this service center mentioned only one Fiester failed so far. any hint ? |

QUOTE(RisingTide @ Jan 16 2018, 10:39 PM) I managed to catch a short glimpse on the PC screen (of RM300++) before the service person zeros it and claim it under warranty. May I know where you change with RM300+, I think mine having problem too, I check with SC, they mentioned >3 yrs, no more warranty, is it true ?I believe its a normal occurrence for Focus MK3 to vibrate slightly more than a normal car; as the MK3 duratec engine is direct injection and operates as a higher compression ratio. If the vibration is severe to a point where the steering wheel vibrates, high chance its the engine mount that has worn out and needed replacing. tqvm |

QUOTE(SportyHandling @ Aug 10 2018, 08:22 AM) Personally I don't think the clutch will need to be replaced annually. I think it will be able to last at least 2 years (minimum) before the jerks get severe. Even though there are jerks at low speed, the car can still be driven. It's just the level of tolerance which is acceptable to the driver that's the main issue here I think as everyone has different acceptance levels. For example, with the same car, one person may feel the jerks to be not serious while another person will feel the jerks to be serious. For the person who is still able to accept the behaviour of the clutch in exhibiting jerks during low speed acceleration, the car may last more than 5 years without any clutch replacement. Just saying, though I'm not sure what are the effects or consequences if the car is continued to be driven with strong jerks during low speed accceleration. my ford focus already in workshop ~3 months, what can I do? keep complain ? |

QUOTE(Dwango @ Aug 12 2018, 08:30 AM) Your case is abnormal because it is surely not a "still unable to identify the root cause" excuse to have your car in the workshop for 3 months which sounds like bullshit to me. Which service centre is this? actually they already replaced some of the parts, at first car can't start at all, after many checking (few weeks), then changed BCM, car can start, but shown transmission errors, check wiring again, another few weeks and then changed TCM, still got problems..., checking wiring again....so TBD nowThe main reason would be they either don't have they parts to complete the repair or they are trying not to replace a major item such as the whole gearbox to save cost. Other reasons would be incompetent mechanics. To troubleshoot a problem doesn't take 3 months, especially just messing around with some wiring which may just take few hours or 1 day only. The most i give them is 3 days to troubleshoot and identify the problem. Likely your car is sitting at the workshop doing nothing. I visit them every week to ensure they follow up, almost every visit I can see 1-2 tech attend my car. |
