Using RON97 on XV is a waste. As our engine is not high compression engine and using higher octane fuel like RON97 wont give much performance return compare to highly tune / modify engine like Turbo.

So conclusion, save the money and just pump Ron95. The user manual and fuel lip does mention to pump Ron95 and above. So the engine is tune to run at Ron95 without issue.

Please youtube regarding octane rating to use in car and you will shock that actual higher octane fuel is more waste in normal cars not only money but also emission!

yeah, i m aware of this. just checking if anyone tried & experience any difference. not necessarily more power.

somehow my personal experience on my 12yrs old kembara 1.3 dvvt starts to hv pinging after few years on 95. the pinging gone after few months of 97. then i use back 95, the engine sound rough.

i m not saying 97 for sure is better. after asking around friends, it seems like new cars are less likely to feel any difference.

just got my car on Monday.
since petrol price just increased & bigger tank, i go for Petronas 95 first.
further more, i forgotten about the engine break-in period & me getting use to auto (yeah.. driving manual for more than 2 decades) will waste petrol.

Congrats on your new car. Did you get it with all the free sports accessories worth RM10,000 - Daytime running lights, sports mesh grill, side sill plates, rear spoiler and cargo plates?
*
I bought the STI (2015 stock) version which is giving 22K + 1K discount making 5K different with the Premium version. Ironically it doesn't comes with the sill & cargo plates.

I believe this promo is for 2015 stock. When I booked this promo doesn't exist yet. At that time Premium version is giving 11k discount & Sport version is 16k. When the is promo becomes available, I did ask the sale person, the discount for Premium reduced to 5k + free upgrade to Sport version. Eventually it is 1k more expensive than 16k discount for Sport version.

Looks like it is not as "Free" as it seems.
Anyway, enjoy your car, we are still enjoying ours (family car) since we bought it in Dec 2015.

while house keeping photos in my phone, i found a screenshot of price after GST on Apr 2015 from <link removed>.
price for xv sti w/o insurance was 126k++. for mine is like 139k++ before discount.

wow... price really increase 13k or 10%+ over almost 1 yr or markup for discount?

anyone familiar with road tax here? How our JPJ categorize the "Jenis Badan"?
What I know for private register vehicle has 2 category - saloon & non-saloon. Non-saloon will have higher road tax rate. Road tax rate

Checking respective brand web page information ASX has saloon road tax rate, even their AWD model. HR-V is also on the saloon rate (1.8 at RM2XX).

Simple.. do you pay around 380+ for roadtax or over RM400? Your XV would be in the standard car category and you only pay RM380+.
*
xv's Jenis badan is JIP & road tax is RM438. My old Kembara also categorized as JIP = RM100 roadtax for 1.3cc.

Just checked, CR-V is RM438.xx.

Wonder how they categorize?

i choose xv mainly bcos of the unique boxer engine & symmetrical AWD and the 5 digits discount for 2015 stock.

Many commented of the dated dashboard. somehow i love the simplicity much more than the modern design like Altis, Vios or City which i personally find it too bulky.

one shud take note buying a car firsr consider the ride (engine & handling) & cosmetic/accessories is secondary because when u r driving, what u see is just the windscreen ;-)

I just booked a XV 2015 sport for RM 15k discount + RM 3k discount.
Transfer my NCD over can get some more discount for insurance.
That's before I trade in my car.

I got the offer from PJ outlet.

if you are not looking for STI version, go for 2016 the meter is panel different
just my "dua sen"
*
i might consider 2016 if the the discount for 2015 is like 3k.
when i bought mine the discount is 5 digits. I like to have keyless entry & push start too but that discount comes first.

my focus is first on the discount then engine, handling & drive.
basically i didn't do any research the accessories available. What I found out during test drive & after getting my car is like a bonus tongue.gif because the top 2 brands lower spec don't have many basic feature, i.e reverse cam & motorized side mirror adjust & folding

its all depend ones the budget. if the budget is tight, even 3k is not a small amount. it is sufficient to do a good tinted & send the car for some detailing job.

Is it?

Compare to 2016, will 2015 lost too much of an advantage?

The downside for me is that the colour available is only Orange, which ironically the limited edition color.
*
if 116k is OTR price, u have a better deal than mine.
If the price is without insurance, is a similar deal as mine.

Y don't you check with other dealer if they have other color?
Last 2 week Ipoh had a road show & they still have dark grey.

I was lucky Motor Image manage to get me Desert Khaki from somewhere. If not I might have to accept black. Wife said any color but orange.

what is the price different for Premium? During my purchase time is 5k but the SA keep insisting me to wait.

I think so, too.

Any recomendation for seller?

Also, any opinion between Premium + STi bodykit VS Sport version?
*
when u said Premium + STI body kits, i sounds like they will take a Premium model & add STI body kit. The seat will b still Premium seats. I was told so if I want dark gray. Clarify properly

heard from SA that STi bodykit is controlled by Motor Image, they only sell to actual XV STi owners if theirs broken, i rmb someone wanted to buy from MI and they dont wanna sell.
Sports version grill looks more wild and aggressive, Premium one look a bit smooth
i think it's worth the price for XV STi afterall the front leather seat is different, the flexible strut bar, and body kits, if you were to buy all these aftermarket, they dont come with same quality, and you add up they would cost about the same also
*
i also fancy the more aggressive sport grille. anyone change? Wonder how much it cost.

AE parts and services got sell, forgot how much it cost, i think above RM600

you can take your car to outside bodykit shop let them measure and make, maybe cheaper but then quality maybe not as good
*
i will try Plasti Dip the center chrome piece to darker color. attached a photoshop simulation

i will either go for original or non (save the $$).

nice desert khaki  biggrin.gif

when i'm choosing color been torn between desert khaki and tangerine orange for very very long time

1 month later decided to choose orange, to match the orange ford ranger i got  laugh.gif

i don't really chose Desert Khaki. silver was not available & book on black while waiting. then i was offered DK & just accepted it over black. anyway, by mistake is not a bad choice & is 2013 award winning color.

i think we shud share our doubtful experience here for confirmation. Mine is XV STI

- Morning cold start: some slight vibration
- 110km/h - RPM slightly over 2000. I think the Premium i test drove is around 1600. I took note bcos SA was emphasizing this low RPM advantage.
- Sound proof, sometimes felt like the windows is not fully wound up whem motorbike pass by.
- hit the accelerator down fast (not yet flooring), sometimes feel like very fast response but sometimes like not especially from low speed around 40km/h.
- brake rubbing sound when making small movement/adjustment during parking.
- reverse camera, no guide lines.
