i remember subarus in the 80s, cause one of my neighbor had 2 of them at home, vaguely remember it's something that looks like a subaru leone sedan, and another one that is wagon shaped leone.. after that the brand basically disappeared in malaysia market..

well i guess now that the ringgit is weaker, it'll be even harder for subaru to penetrate the malaysian market cause only the XV is CKD for now.. subaru in SG (which is also under MI) is a different story altogether, it's always cheaper than a T or H..

That sentence already tells you that it has nothing to do with the weaker ringgit if in SG the subaru is cheaper than T or H. If the continentals managed to start CKD in Malaysia, there is no reason for Subaru not to. They just didn't have anybody locally to push for it. I guess TC could have done something if they really wanted to.
*
i guess MI just didnt want to have any direct competition in malaysia for now, and have no confidence that they'll sell enough volume to justify CKDing a model, hence only CKD the XV(since no direct competition now), the other models in subaru malaysia's line up are priced out of competition, only people with genuine interest would buy.. if they bring in the impreza in CBU form, it'll likely be priced out of competition, if it's CKD, they have to go head to head with T & H, and recently M, and not forgetting the upcoming kimchis..

Most outside windscreen shop prefers to do 'made in china' business because a lot of people don't have coverage and prefer to use cheaper knockoffs.

I've also forgot that the XV is CKD and the windscreen could be a local component but it is still very cheap compared to CBU. My previous WRX windscreen cost over RM3000. Made in china knockoffs were around RM1000.

If it is a CKD component then the specialist might be able to get their hands on it.
*
not suprising for WRX windscreen to be that expensive.. anything that is not common sure kena cut throat, i was quoted RM800+ excluding labour to replace the radiator fan for my impreza couple of months back, while it cost around SGD200 to have it replaced in SG which translates to about RM500-600 inclusive of labour.

Understand that Forester XT is going to be CKD unit in coming months...price would be substantially lower !!
*
thats great news..
i was hoping to get a forester or legacy when i'm done with impreza.
but since new legacy has no more "snail" inside, it has to be either the forester xt, or levorg..

Anybody knows the pcd of the spare? thinking of getting thinner spare tyre to increase the boot space..
*
It'll be the same pcd as your standard rim, no? I know only the sti uses 5x114.3, the rest should be 5x100.

Can we use this on our Subaru? Specifically:
A. Where is our OBD-II port located?
B. Will it void our warranty?
*
Use what?
Obd port is located under steering.
Void warranty or not depends on what you do.

I have a pivot throttle controller and scan gauge 2 connected to my obd port using a splitter.

But you do know that the unique subaru boxer burble is not there in the XV since you have equal length headers. Subarus lose their burble when fitted with equal length headers. The sound does not come from the engine alone. I had the EJ20 with unequal length exhaust headers in my previous subaru and FA20 in my current ride.  I can't wait to get my hands on an unequal length exhaust header to put the burble back on.

This video shows you what the burble sounds like in a Subaru with unequal headers and how it is lost when equal length headers are used.

*
here's a guy that tried 14(!) different setups to get the perfect burble ... bopbopbopbop...

Few thing i realize after having 2 days drive on Subaru XV.
1. There is a gap between the 2 piece of plastic that located at car ciggrate lighter there.
2. Rear passenger seat on the left seems like not fix and can be pulled up.

Is that a normal for all XV car?
*
2. not sure bout XV, but on the impreza, seat cushion memang can remove one.. thats where the fuel tank is located, and when you need to replace the fuel pump or fuel filter, thats where it is.

I think this is a Yes and No answer. Yes, the seats are removable to access the fuel pump but it does not have a simple removal mechanism to remove the seat. That means the seat is not meant to be removed or folded until you need to fix something. This usually applies to sedans.

If I'm not mistaken, the XV design folds the seat back support all the way down and creates a flat surface to the rear compartment without having to fold up the bottom seat itself. Therefore if the bottom seat is loose, then something is wrong as it is not clipped on properly.
*
i had mine removed for fuel filter replacement, and it's just a simple clip to hold it in place, just slide your finger under the seat, pull the tab and it's off.

not sure what you meant for the 2nd part of your reply, but my sedan seat fold flat too, just like the video below @ 12:38..

check out 11:45 for the rear seat removal, and watch till the end for re-installation of the rear seat.
