from what i know is, if you are buying the new Vios, batch 1,2,3 can go and complain to SC. and they will change new one for you. go back to the SC which you bought your car is better. else they(other SC) simply "Layan" you only cos you're not purchasing with their company.

guys, anyone have door swinging issue? regardless of any batch.

it happens to my passenger door and driver door whenever i open from inside. I thought there is a 3-step mechanism in the door but it doesnt seem to work when open from inside.

hey guys, i drive a 1st gen facelift vios and would like to ask you guys regarding the cabin air filter.
i've removed the glove box and i wanted to service the airfilter only to find out that there isn't any clips whereby u can unlock and remove the filter? the black rectangular part which suppose to house the airfilter can't be popped out.
could anyone be so kind to help me out here please? any photos?

my new vios's fuel consumption damn high .... one tank can only last for 350km max ...
heavy/light foot doesnt change the situation .... and another problem is the tank capacity ... mine is around 33L instead of 42L .... sigh ....
*
mine full tank can go until 460km, average fuel consumption is 12.9km/l.
driving style = 80% highway, 20% city

2014 vios g spec.

you've installed soundproof on your doors?

mine had this 3-step feedback on door during earlier ownership. After installed soundproof material that weighted around 3kilo each door, the 3-step no longer there.. laugh.gif

Yeah , I have sounproof in the door. Actually mine isn't actually working effectively before I have the soundproof.
I thought these 3 steps thing are just some mechanism so Hopefully someone found out how to fix this.

New Vios Batch 1,2,3 few problem and already been confirm by SC, the root top sound proof as well. bring back to your purchase car SC and make a complain, they should be adding sound proof for your root top for free and change the "Leg Arms" as well if not mistaken.
*Friend work inside SC told me about this.

how do we know which batch is the car came from?

a question, is there any reputable replacement absorber/spring for the new vios?

I am asking this because, the car will be for long distance purposes and it will carry quite a load including 5 adults. I do notice that if the car is fully loaded, the rear end will squat and hence will definitely affect the handling of the car. Any suggestions?

the hinge was design for stock door weight.

with additional soundproof weight, i doubt that there is any solution to it. sweat.gif

changing either the absorbers or springs will definitely void your warranty on this 2 item.

at the time being, perhaps a spring buffer would help?

thanks for the reply brah.

how much would spring buffer cost nowadays? Any specific brand to look for?

and also, usually, most new gen vios owners will increase their rim size to either 16s or 17s. What is the most suitable size and rim spec for an upgrade? The standard 15s are too soft and too 'empty'. lulz

i think these spring buffers cost around RM250-450, depends on brand. FYI, i never use it. laugh.gif

for vios, i think max 16's with 205/55 profile; else it will be stiff riding.

the stock 15s are soft, hence provide a "comfortable" ride. When you go for low profile rubber, you know its not that comfortable at all. My other is current on 215/45/17... man its really not comfortable.

ouch.. quite expensive for a spring buffer.

I think 205/55 is a little bigger hence, the speedo would deviates a little. I was wondering if there is any 205/50s or 195/55s.

yeah.. low profile is no comfy. My current rides on adjustables on 165/50/15 on 7" wide rims.

thanks for the input. nod.gif

try this:
http://www.etyres.co.uk/how-to-change-your-tyre-size/

do take note that your speedo meter reading will be off as well due the diameter surface contact changed; as it was optimized for stock size reading.

hope this help. smile.gif

Hi guys, i had ordered my 2015 vios G spec last month, so far i read from here that the most common defects/problems are as below:

1. Rooftop soundproof
2. Engine mounting
3. Driver side lower arm assembly
4. Passenger side lower arm assembly

I want to ask any 2015 model owners here? Do you still facing the same issue?

Hi RcykZai,
Although I do not recommend you go for this thin, light and safety minus B-Segment Japanese car. If wanna choose better B-segment Japanese car, go for city better. Of course, there are a lot of better B-segment Japanese / Conti cars available in the market other than VIOS & City. VIOS and City feel plasticky to me...

Yeap bros, i understand and i agree with your recommendations. I like honda city and mazda 2 but this is my first car, and my parents, specially my dad, insist me to get a vios, reason, better resale value and lower maintenance cost.

I had no choice, he made the booking for me, and personally i borrowed first down payment from my dad, thats why need to follow his order. shakehead.gif

But different people have different perspective, for me its pretty decent alrdy, use it for work and it is a new car compared to my 20+ years old Honda CRV, which breaks down monthly constantly and i had to fix it very time costing 500-1k.

My relatives drive vios for plenty of years, and i know that first gen vios is really durable than recent gens.. not sure what happened to the 3rd gen.

Theres no prefect car, i mean other brand car sure got problem too. Most importantly is how we drive and taking care of the car.

Hope it serves me well.

I'm driving Toyota Vios 1st Generation for the past 11 years and so far good durability and save petrol for long run. The only thing that being change is engine mounting, throttle body and fuel filter. All is running perfectly and quiet ride.
