although the waking up part is kinda kills the plan but also depends how you plan the itinerary. i always make sure to get the day before and after to be a bit relaxing to recover back the sleep time

it is very up to individual. this is my first time to see the auction in tsukiji fish market and probably the last one
*
I travel a lot to Japan a lot previously and I am now working permanently here. I am proud to say that I never have got the strenght to wake up early in the morning to go for the auction! And never even have any sushi in Tsukiji as well! smile.gif

It's the tourist vs resident thing. I live in SG for like 3 years liao and a hell lot of the tourist attractions I also never bother going. When ppl ask me 'MBS skypark worth it to go or not' I'm like errrrrrrrrrrrrrr I dunno, you google and see lor lol.

I am also wondering whether it is worth to wake up so early to go and see or not?
Anyone who went for the tuna auction before?

QUOTE(hihihehe @ Mar 6 2014, 03:44 PM)
i don't see why not. kinda interesting to see the way they doing the auction and best of all, it's free

Here's the thing about the auction, it really does kill almost an entire day. If it's worth it or not ... up to you lor. Basically you get cramped with like 50 other people in a corridor, can't really walk around or do anything other than see this

Is it worth it to wake up at 3.30am, travel and queue/wait for 2-3 hours just to see 10minutes of this? Only you can decide biggrin.gif

Side note, after the auction finishes it will be relatively late in the morning and sushi dai / daiwa sushi queues will be epicly long liao.

like i said, it is up to individual, not forcing or whatsoever. i've been there once and it was not cramped like what you have said. they divide it into 2 groups and im in the first group and i still can go for the sushi early morning.

well, i was there to experience their culture and at least i have ticked the fish market out from my list.

btw, will the auction thing going to be the same once they have moved to the new fish market?

Hi guys, New here in this thread, I have a question about matta fair deal, I'm going to Japan with a friend this may and wanting to purchase the flight tickets now but I heard the matta fair will offer cheaper flights than buying online? The cheapest airlines I found was Cathay airlines, wonder they offer any good deals there?

Early May, why? My travel dates are flexible travel from early May to mid may should be okay for us as long as I can get the cheapest flights other than airasia, the one I found online the cheapest was around 1450 for return flights each person, wonder if I can get a better deal at matta fair or not only.

i don't know about last minute flight purchase, most of them are quite expensive. i always plan my trips at least 3 months ahead, meaning early flight bookings are quite cheap. managed to grab my MAS flight for next month for just RM800 (return). sometimes last last minute deals are available, because airline need to sell out those unbooked seats and they are super cheap but depends on your luck.

I wish I can too, I wanted to board a Boeing 787 so long. But I can't afford to pay the price.

I had brought my AA Ticket to Kansai Area (return)for about RM650.
Travel date=Mid of May '14, purchase on Jan 2014.

U need check the AA website when they having ticket promotion.
U can get better offer if they is a new route being created by AA.

For matta's fare ticket, u get 33% off from normal fare ticket.
Frankly speaking, i have stop going to matta fair hunting for discount
ticket since AA start the operation in Malaysia.
