Anyone's experiencing camera hang issue ? when you capture a photo,the whole screen hang & i have to lock & unlock the phone to be able to continue using my phone.Happens occasionally & have tried resetting the phone

feels like wanna underclock my cpu. currently on 4.4.2.
does root really wipe this phone?. anybody have rooted their z1c?
any best method instead of from xda forum?
i'm coming from samsung s3. the root step is quiet long compared to samsung. haha

Yeap.. Unlocked the boatloader will wipe the phone data include the internal SD and ext SD..better remove ur ext SD before proceed to unlock....back ur ta incase ur phone problem then can re lock back the boatloader for warranty claim..
Anyway root on Sony device quite challenging Bcoz of the boatloader locked...once unlocked then very ezy to flash just like Odin on samseng..

Nope.... Not much choice but to do hard reset then then Try camera again before restoring your phone.

yep, count me in. happened to me a few times, starting about a month ago. i thought im the only 1 experiencing this issue so i just kept quiet. but i have a solution (sort of).. if u experience the hang, sometimes when u lock & unlock & try capturing the photo again, screen will hang again. happened to me almost every time.. so if u're in a hurry to snap a photo, instead of repeating to lock & unlock the phone or go back to home screen, kill the app, open it back again..., just use the dedicated camera button. works for me every time. good luck trying it

i think this is firmware bug.. just hope sony will release fix soon.

Camera also hang yesterday when I pushed the focusing limit. I find the macro mode to be rather bad compare to samsung, can't focus if the object is less than 10cm away, and if it is small or lighting is bad, even more than 10cm cannot focus. Or was the stock camera app bad?

eh really? coz i was just comparing z1c stock camera app with my wife's note 3 stock camera app yesterday. i tried capturing a photo of my pet hedgehog's ear using both devices and it seems that note3's focusing is way worse than z1c. i was using superior mode btw. later i'll show u the pics when i get my hands on em

edited: bad lighting does affect z1c camera immensely, whereas on note 3 it doesn't seem to be too obvious.

Sony's advertising line for the Z1 Compact is

"Digital Camera in a Smartphone".

camera should be good already imho, the compression/processing algorithm need improvement here maybe..

Yeah, the camera itself is good. It's the software/firmware which is holding it back. It pushes ISO higher unnecessarily which causes noise and then aggressively post processes to remove the noise which results in loss of detail and water color kinda textures.

In these conditions, it is better to use manual mode to force a better choice of ISO. But I wouldn't how to choose that though.

Anyone here can give some advice on manual settings? A general rule of thumb, maybe?

I have tried Galaxy S4 close up, can focus even at 2cm from the subject, impossible on Z1C, or maybe I should use other camera app

are u sure 2cm can focus up?? don't boom too over la..

mostly sony phone camera minimum focus distance is 8cm.. don't expect to get closer up photo without any accessories.. 2cm is too over liao.. even some DSLR also can't make it..

dis z1 compact battery life really very very gud, very tahan, i din expect it to hav such a tahan battery, at first i oni tot its camera is very gud, but nw the battery life is oso very gud
